Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once wrote that “the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being.” And that couldn’t be more prevalent in the book, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Every single character struggles with the internal conflicts of right versus wrong, forcing them to do things that will change their life indefinitely. Whether it’s through Werner’s choice to murder a one of his one Nazi officers to save Marie-Laure, Or through Etienne’s actions to stop being a bystander of the war and instead risk his life to help defeat the Germans. In All the Light We Cannot See, Werner starts off his new life with an acceptance to a Nazi School where he’ll learn to calculate the precise location of radios broadcasting
In Robert Cormier’s novel, We All Fall Down, is a young-adult thriller that explores the evil side of humanity through a number of corrupt characters. Cormier, to a large extent, accurately depicts manipulative and dishonest behaviour whilst also showing the evil lurking within the prominent characters of Harry Flowers, Buddy Walker and Mickey Stallings who showcase the dark side of humanity. Cormier explores this through Harry Flower’s manipulative actions that result in the suffering of others. Additionally, the constant dishonest behaviour is shown predominantly through the main protagonist of Buddy Walker, who deceives the one he loves. Cormier continues to depict the evil lurking in society through the theme of appearance
Ferdinand Hodler, one of the leading figures in modern European paintings, developed outside the mainstream of so-called avant-garde, and his life and work bridged the gap between XIX and XX century. At the end of the XIX century, he was the one of the leading Symbolist painter.
The main theme in the book, The Dark is Rising, is obviously the conflict between the dark and light. It is one of the many suspenseful fantasy books about the battle between good and evil, Susan Cooper wrote about the dark, light, and the mystical powers.
The book, The Shattering Sky, by Erin Hunter, is a very good book. It is about how foreign cats from outside of the forest that are brutal and destroyed Skyclan, and old cat clan, came over to the Forest clans. Their Leader, DarkTail, was a very smart individual. He knew how to fight cats and how to teach them. Some new information I learned today was that DarkTail, a treacherous cat, is actually OneStar's son. Onestar was a very good and respected leader of WindClan. Onestar was even known to all the clans that he was brave and strong. In the text, Alder Paw says, “Onestar was the most respected and bravest leader of all time” ( Erin 158). Even a cat from another clan was saying that Onestar was a good cat. Onestar basically disowned Darktail
Women have often played an important role in advocating social justice. However, they have rarely been credited for their efforts and actions. Indeed, the research or narratives on social movements too often focus on male experiences. Yet, a gendered approach to social movements is crucial, because women’s experiences differ from men’s, as do their reasons for becoming involved with any type of activism, be it political or social. The movie Salt of the Earth by Michael Wilson (1954) illustrates those differences and emphasizes the importance of understanding the role played by individual and collective identity in political action. How does one’s social identity shape one’s involvement in political action? In this movie, women get involved in a strike; they become visible activists and no longer just the shadows of their husbands. Yet, their depiction in the movie presents them as essentially mothers and wives, inscribing their actions in the realm of domesticity. Thus, their actual agency remains in question.
“In a Dark time” by Theodore Roethke gives a retrospect into the inner turmoil’s of finding oneself through a haze of doubts in till reaching a moment of clarity. Each section of the poem describes a different emotion, or inner thought that spirals from fear of death, to emotions of desire. The use of imagery between nature and uncertainties of the narrator give a glimpse into Roethke’s own mind during the time he wrote this poem. Without hundreds of pages Roethke created a poem that connects readers to their own self-doubts and struggles of finding ones way again.
Silent Light by Carlos Reygadas is a powerful, emotional, breathtaking, and heartbreaking movie. The movie is different from a lot of Hollywood’s movies because the movie capture the life style and culture of farmers that shun most modern-day technology and live off the land. Faith, family, and time, and emotions played a big role in the movie. In Silent Light we can see how the main character was torn between his wife and mistress. They were a lot of parts that stood out to me the most which I believe can be related to society. The main character Johan was having an affair and his wife Esther knew about it even though she knew about it, she couldn’t do anything about it only accept it and try to be there
In the short story A Man Who Had No Eyes by MacKinlay Kantor Mr Parson is a character that really shows the outcome of a positive perspective on life. Mr Parson “had been nothing more than a skilled laborer; now he he was successful, respected, admired...Insurance... And he had done it alone, unaided, struggling beneath handicaps.” Even though Mr parson was also one of the men in C shop the day of the explosion Mr parson never gave up after the accident, he took this as a new opportunity to succeed and begin a new future. He did not continue on from the tragedy to feel self pity or to tell his emotional story for the sympathy in hopes people would help him. Instead he went out and helped and the pay off is way better than how he had it before

Thinking about our mental lives extended beyond our biological death is a common topic in society and culture. Research has shown that the mind and normal consciousness are common with the functioning of the brain. Yet, many people believe in some form of life after death, which many religions have faith in.
This is an emotional poem written by William E Stafford called traveling through the dark. I am going to describe 1st stanza in Baroque style, the 2nd in Classical, the 3rd in Romantic and the 4thand 5th in Modern. If the first stanza of the poem was set in the Baroque period and music was composed in this period then I would have use complex and thick polyphonic texture. Also, It will look like or changed into a vocal form such as mass, opera.
In “Traveling through the Dark,” William Stafford uses the speaker and framing of the poem to contribute to the theme that when confronted with troubles, it is better to deal with them than let them ruin someone else. “Traveling through the Dark” is a narrative about one individual. This poem is a monologue because there is one speaker. The speaker uses an internal voice that is calm and informal to create an unfiltered admission of that night. Being written in past tense, the speaker seems to be reflecting on his actions.
“Loyalty and devotion lead to bravery. Bravery leads to the spirit of self-sacrifice. The spirit of self-sacrifice creates trust in the power of love” (Morihei Ueshiba). This chain concept is a difficult process in order to encounter trust. However, one must easily begin with simply displaying loyalty from one’s heart and soul towards other individuals. From the novel, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a particular character remained extraordinary in his demonstrations of loyalty that spewed into exhibiting bravery, love, and care towards the people in his world. His name is Ugwu, and the following exposes his experience of the war and interactions with other characters.

More information about the book is it was copyright in 2012 by Adam Abernethy, the book is also available as an eBook and was printed in the United States of America. Some of the reasons I chose to read this book because of what is says on the cover “Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.” It really caught my attention. Another reason is because of the cover has people falling from the sky.
