Fortunately and unfortunately, I am a product of charter schools. I attended Achieve Charter Academy from fifth grade to eighth grade. I joined the first year that it opened, leaving all my elementary friends right before graduation. Over the course of the four years I was in multiple advanced courses and performing well. By eighth grade I was in geometry that counted towards high school credit, and feeling good about my academic path. I am grateful of this, but it did not prepare me well for the future years to come. The way we learned was very basic. There was not as much rigor as there would be in a class of that extent. I was never really challenged during the course of the year. I entered high school with high hopes. Unfortunately the

Gulf Coast Charter School would be the best middle school option because there are weekly field activities, technology education programs, and clubs and extracurricular activities. Gulf Coast will allow students to learn more about things that already interest them and help them to realize what they might want to be involved in during high school.
Trinity Christian College, a private institution established in 1959, is located on a 52-acre suburban campus in Palos Heights, Illinois. Sauk Valley Community College should have a track and field team for several reasons. SVCC use to have a track and field team. Sadly, they dropped it in the nineteen seventies probably because of the expenses. Track and field is a very popular sport that many students might want to take part in middle and high school, or even at college level. Track isn’t a very expensive sport. It is one of the cheapest sports to participate in. Track and field is also very popular sport in colleges in the two hour radius from Sauk Valley Community College. Bringing track and field to Sauk will bring about 40-50 new students each year. Also, this will make Sauk become a better choice of colleges in the area, because of the distance.
Ambassadors Preparatory Academy (084804) is in Galveston County and the charter district has an enrollment of 320 students as of 2013-2014 school year. Out of 320 students 290 or 90.6% is under economically disadvantaged. This is a high number of economically disadvantaged students. As a teacher, you have to adjust your lesson plan accordingly especially when planning a field trip or giving a project. Field trip is an important learning experience for students and having majority of the student falling under economically disadvantaged it will be hard to plan a field trip. Some students who is economically disadvantaged is not performing well in school which will reflect to teachers performance. The demand will be huge in the teacher with high
The staff at West Buffalo Charter were all very warm and welcoming each and every time I came to tutor my student. Although, one suggestion I would like to make is to schedule a time where the student has academic work they need help on and is not being sent on computer to play games while the tutor is there to work with the individual.
In this project, you will imagine that you are a lawyer giving legal advice to a young entrepreneur who has sought your guidance as she builds her company. Her company will sell an app called BackOffice that automates certain business functions, such as sending out bills to customers and receiving payments for sales and services rendered. In order to turn the sales and servicing of her app into a viable business enterprise, the entrepreneur must learn those parts of the law that could play a significant role in the economic success of the enterprise. It is your job to advise her.
The expression “separate but equal, ” is the philosophy in which was the foundation of racial segregation in the late 19th and 20th centuries and is commonly referred to the Brown v. Board of Education case. “Separate but equal” is the process of granting all citizens of the state the same rights and freedoms but finding ways around the law that would allow racial discrimination to be applied in all situations. However, “separate but equal” is not always a problematic circumstance, as the Africentric Alternative School located in Toronto Ontario is an institution that was developed in order to cease the trend of African descent students dropping out of school. This institution is not an issue of segregation of African children as all races and religions are allowed to
I performed my field experience at Chiefland Elementary. Chiefland is a very small town with the population of six thousand. There are over eight hundred students enrolled at Chiefland Elementary. There are fifty-two instructional staff members and two administers. In those fifty-two staff members, there is one African American teacher and one male teacher; the rest are women. This is a white dominate school. In the school there is 73% Caucasian students, 17% African American students, and 4% Hispanic students. There is only 3% of students that are ESOL and 5% are Gifted and Talented. This semester we learned that in small areas and with low income schools, there are more Hispanics and African American people. In this case, Chiefland Elementary
One thing you may be surprised to learn about starting a charter school is that it’s a lot like starting a business. You’ve got to put out a quality product (your teaching style), you need to attract customers (your students), and you want to attract the best talent (your teachers). One of the most challenging aspects of the process is the hiring and management of suppliers.
This paper analyzes the case study of Valley Community College (VCC), which is one of the oldest community colleges in the nation. Since its inception in 1910, it has grown and expanded to over 25,000 students, and a faculty of 1,500. The largest student population consists of 38% Latino, followed by Whites, Asian Americans, African Americans, and Native Americans. The College is now operating at maximum capacity and has a waiting list for each location. In order to meet the growing demands of the community, temporary classrooms have been setup in a large portable trailer. Due to the financial pressures of the institution, a new building is currently not an option. In addition, many of the faculty members and administrators are expected to retire, which is affecting faculty and staff workloads as well as tension of program accreditations. These concerns are impacting the entire campus morale.
Presently, the District is comprised of six brick and mortar schools and one virtual charter school. The brick and mortar schools include three elementary schools, one middle school, one traditional high school and one alternative high school for high risk students. Our virtual charter school serves student’s grades K- 12 and is primarily attended by families who homeschool their children and want flexibility and access to District resources such as teachers and curriculum. EASD strives to be in the top 10% of everything we do, and strive to be progressive in the education field. As stated by District Superintendent, Jason Tadlock, the mission of EASD is, to “maximize growth for every student, improving academic achievement for all
Teach for America is an organization that hires recent elite college graduates for a two year contract teaching at low-income schools. Their main goal is to eliminate education inequality, viewing the achievement gap between low-income minority students and their wealthier peers as the problem. Their values and principles include closing the achievement gap, having an absolute certainty that effective teaching can conquer all poverty and limited resources and faith in the power of "high expectations". (page 34 35) They use an incentive design approach involving a classroom economy. In the classroom economy they use fake money that students earn as a reward for showing good behavior in class like academic improvement and being kind to their peers. They then use the money to pay for obligatory rent payments on their desk. Students using this class room economy become devoted to this system as they will sometimes sell items with their peers so they can afford rent.
