This morning I attended the Allstate vending machine site visit at the Dunwoody MARTA Station. Here are some takeaways from that meeting: 1. The Allstate entrance will not be completed for a few more weeks. 2. Three vending machines will be located at the entrance (inside) of the station near the fare gates and stairs. 3. Per the drawing, the vending machine will be in camera view (see attachment). 4. Vine City vending machine vandalisms incidents was brought up in conversation. After talking with Dennis Thornton Owner of Vendedge (vending machines) and Denise Whitfield (MARTA Retail Concessions) they agreed to move Vine City vending machines that are not in camera view and bring them back in November. These platforms are currently at a 50% installation rate as of March 2016, and Sonic expects to see the rest of its locations operating with these new systems by the end of 2017. Their point of sale system is different than others in the QSR industry in that it offers a more customized experience for customers, while also streamlining service and reducing waste (Murphy). This point of sale system also has the future potential to connect to customer’s mobile phones for further descriptions, while also featuring a touch screen for ease of access. This new technology will replace a system that is currently over 20 years old - Sonic may sometimes brand using their “retro” vibe, but antiquated systems set no one up for success (Kelso). This new technology is also said to drive their average check upwards by several points; Chairman, Chief Executive, and President, J. Clifford Hudson, reported not only a 2.2 percent increase in stores who had begun using this new technology, but also stated a whopping 33.8 percent rise in profits, for the same time period. This increase in profits can be related to the fact that the new POS system is not only beneficial for the customer, but also for the restaurant and employees - while minimizing waste, it also makes some things such as theft, miscommunication, and
Similarly, the growth in vending machines has found more people sidestepping the checkout line in favour of the kiosk.
As a shopping product, we can expect considerable planning time involved – as it could be considered a “big ticket item” when compared to the everyday coffee brewer, however with price being part of the marketing mix, we plan to price it competitively with its sister-like products, taking in its additional conveniences and manufacturing costs into pricing and revenue management. Introductory cost projections are in the $220-$250 range. With our image already defined in the small electronics industry, we plan to market heavily on the already in-place reputation.
This is the second time graffiti/vandalism was found on the dispenser in about a month, I will be telling all officers to be checking these areas more often so
Handpresso is a product designed for coffee lovers. Inspired by the quote “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”, Handpresso’s is developed as a simple small portable espresso machine. It is invented by Nielsen Innovation which specializes in creating new-to-the-world products. Nielsen Innovations, founded in 2000, designed and developed several innovative products such as Wi-Flow technology for a vacuum cleaner and Reelight – battery-free bicycle lights. Handpresso started as a self-financing product design project. Upon completion of the basic design, Nielson Innovation approached a couple of leaders from the espresso market to obtain a licensing agreement. The companies were happy with the portability offered by the Handpresso but they were not interested to purchase the product. Since there were no direct substitutes in the market, Nielsen Innovation decided to develop the product in-house and take it directly to market. Today, after the product development is almost complete, there are many questions that need to be answered for developing a business around this innovation. The biggest question posed is what next?
Many cafes are putting sensors on the bottom of cups to help alert the wait staff that a customer needs a refill. Would you introduce this technology to the cafe? If so, are there any concerns with using this type of technology?
In a commitment to the health and wellness of employees and citizens of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mayor Rick Kriseman signed 2016’s Administrative Policy #090130 to improve the nutrition of foods and beverages sold in vending machines on City-owned and operated facilities.
Also in late October, about two-thirds of U.S. Wal-Mart stores started selling a machine made by Esio Beverage Co that makes both hot and cold drinks called the Esio beverage system. This machine does not use K-Cups but uses its own version called e-packs. The Esio is will be the biggest threat to date for Keurig because the Esio will make good coffee but will be “more than just a coffee machine,”(Geller) said Lyle Myers, the company's president . “We have a system for every member of the family,"( Geller) Myers said. He also discusses that the machine can be used all day and, “not just in the morning” (Geller). The Esio has licensing deals with Kraft Foods Group Inc, Campbell Soup Co and Unilever Plc. Esio's will offer some unique drinks like Maxwell House hazelnut coffee, V8 Splash juices, Diet Brisk iced teas, Country Time Lemonade and Crystal Light drinks.

Starbucks made operational changes to facilitate its rapid expansion. First, it changed La Marzocco machines for Verismo models, which were automatic and produced espresso quicker. This reduced the costs of training baristas and reduced the time of the process, so customers were served more quickly. However, some customers argued that the new machines produced lower quality coffee and the customer-barista relationship was lost. Other operational change was coffee grinding. At the beginning, coffee was grounded throughout the day for best tasting. In order to reduce time, Starbucks started shipping pre-ground coffee to its stores. However coffee quality could
My gumball machine is consisted of a glass cylinder, which sits a, the wooden base, to hold and display the gumballs inside. The pinewood base holds a slider which dispenses a gumball on the surface below with ease. Some unique features on the device is the mason jar which gives it a vintage but modern look. Not only that the base of the machine has been routered to give it a interesting yet formal design.

The system allows consumers to buy a variety of coffee and make a cup of coffee that has the quality like the one you would buy in a gourmet coffee house for upwards of $3 to $5. Based on the surveys and focus groups that had been conducted people were looking for convenience, minimal clean-up, and great taste. Keurig made its decision to promote the system based on those factors and with units succeeding in local businesses now was the time to strike, while the “iron is hot”, a large percentage of survey takers said they would gladly buy the units that were proposed based on the information they were given.
The vending machines are going to be purchased for an external company meeting the requirements for products that are going to be offered depending on the geographic areas. The machines are going to be divided in two sections: both with regulated temperature, but one colder than the other to ensure some products durability. There is going to be also a special door with an electronic tool providing eggs, which will secure the fragility of the product.
The company has an objective to promote the knowledge of the healthly vending machines to people around different industries and to increase the interest of the devices to people who are already aware of them.
