It is that time of year again! Super Bowl LI is just around the corner. The only exciting events are the commercials and half time performances. This year we have the Falcons versus the Patriots. The Falcons might be a little intimidated because they were not predicted to be in the Super Bowl this year. The Patriots are confident because they plan on hiding all the official’s flags this year to prevent any penalties. They had to step it up the scandal this year. The Commissioner dislikes Tom Brady; therefore, he will be cheering for the Falcons this year. The Commissioner is trying to suspend Tome Brady for his scandal last year and giving his the trophy would be the last thing he wants to do. The commercials keep viewers intrigued
Draft picks and free agent signings by the other teams in the AFC East always get people excited. “This is the year the Pats fall off,” they say. But 13 out of the last 15 seasons, the Patriots have been in the postseason, with little reason to believe that circumstance should change this year. With four weeks off to start the season, and should the Patriots reach the playoffs for the 14th time in 16 seasons, Brady could be the healthiest he has been in a while heading into the postseason. That is a scary thought for the rest of the

There are more than a few reasons people watch the super bowl. Some watch for the game (surprisingly not the majority), some watch for commercials or good deals, etc. Whatever makes people watch, makes the super bowl one of the most watched games every year. I saw a few really good commercials during the game and a few commercials that make me believe that a new generation is upon us with a T-Mobile commercial that used word play to joke about marijuana and other commercials that were very…. Sexy? With all of this being said I am one of the viewers who tune in for the actual game. I was scheduled to work Sunday night during the super bowl so naturally as a football fan I called off so I could catch the game, for homework of course. The game

The Black Sox Scandal is a fix game against the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds. This game was fixed by eight players from the Chicago White Sox. Players felt like they were not getting paid enough and their coach was treating them badly. The 1919 World Series was a game that changed baseball forever. Since the moment you had your first play date every single boy that has ever been born has always wanted to win or be the best out of what you are doing. This is the competitive instinct that is within everybody but especially in boys and men. Even when you’re a baby when another baby is around and that baby starts to get more attention than you your first reaction is to cry and demand attention. As we get older into our teens our competitive instinct blossoms more than any other emotion we have. In sports you always want to be the best, that’s why you play the game. You lift weights and do speed drills so that you get faster and jump higher just to help you become better than your opponent, the thing that drives you through your training
Tom Brady wants to take the NFL to federal court, to appeal his charges of four-regular season game suspension and fined the Patriots with a $1 million fine. I believe that the NFL should negotiate Tom Brady’s charges, before he takes it to the federal courts. There is no direct evidence that could prove Brady’s involvement with the football deflation at the AFC Championship game, even though Brady’s appeal hearing sounded inadequate. He could beat the federal case because there is no proof of his involvement. Brady doesn’t have much more to lose if the suspension is upheld, then the NFL does. Ted Wells stated that his team (NFL) has already been billed $5.5 million, with an additional $600,000 for hiring other experts. By negotiating a deal

The film showed how with the black Sox scandal that there is no way to regulate the player on the teams that they needed to create a governing body that will decide if a player is eligible to play professional baseball, based on the actin that the committed. The very first commissioner of baseball was Kenesaw Mountain Landis who came into power because of the Black Sox scandal. The commissioner was given absolute power so his decision was final without any dispute. He decided that with the players that participated and new of the fixed games was not going to be eligible to play professional baseball anymore and to this day that ruling still stands. Even though the player were removed of all charges in relation to accepting money to throw games,
The players and teams receive too much leeway when they are involved with crimes or misconducts. They have a “distorted view of themselves” (White) which induces them to “overvalue their abilities and are proud and condescending when relating to others” (White). The league is responsible for investigating and taking action against the players and teams that do not follow the NFL Personal Conduct Policy which the league describes as avoiding “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League” (ESPN). This is required to be accepted by all workers in the NFL: players, general managers, coaches, owners, sideline/team employees, and even game officials. Roger Goodell, because of his title and job description, is delegated to be the “the judge and the jury in individual cases” (Pease). This responsibility he has is not a wise way of handling cases because there needs to be some sort of committee involved in order to give a thorough, well balanced, opinion and
Just as Lombardi affected the early Super Bowls with his coaching style and character, the Super Bowl, itself, has attained a greater-than-life presence influencing the world today. With NBC and CBS being the only two television stations broadcasting the first game, there are now an uncountable number of stations showing the Super Bowl today. The advertisements are talked about just as much, if not more, than the game itself. Of all viewers that tune in during the game, eight percent are only watching to see the commercials; the average cost for a thirty second commercial has gone from $42,000 for Super Bowl I to most recently three million dollars for Super Bowl XLV (“NFL Super Bowl”). Even though the big game is only played once a year and lasts for
