What is a anxiety disorder? Anxiety disorder is any of several disorders that are characterized by a feeling of fear, dread, or apprehension that arises without a clear or appropriate cause. Some examples of anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Post traumatic disorder (PTSD) and many more. What causes an anxiety disorder? Anxiety disorders may develop from a complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events. Many people think having an anxiety disorder isn't a big deal but in actuality anxiety is much more than the basic nerves.
Anyone could have an anxiety disorder, Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older. Having anxiety can be treated but majority of the people who has anxiety tend to not get treatment because they might have the fear of getting judged on the way they feel or the way others may think about them. People who have an anxiety disorder could have developed the anxiety disorder from a complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events.
Some signs and symptoms of someone who might have an anxiety disorder can be Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge, Being easily fatigued, Difficulty concentrating or having their minds go blank and many more signs and symptoms a person could show. Examples of different anxiety disorders could be obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and many more. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), and behaviors that drive them to do something over and over (compulsions). Some symptoms or signs if a person who might have OCD can be repeated unwanted ideas, fear of contamination, thoughts of they might harm someone and etc. Another example of an anxiety disorder is panic disorder. Panic disorder is diagnosed in people who experience spontaneous seemingly out-of-the-blue panic attacks and are very preoccupied with the fear of a recurring attack.
