Choosing four of the seven theoretical perspectives wasn’t too hard, once I started to think of how I would like to be treated. For me I find comfort knowing how things in my body are affecting me and how things around me are being an influence.
The first one I noticed was the Behavioral Perspective and how it focuses how a person's environment and experiences are affecting them. If someone is dealing with anger or depression I would ask about their current situation and what has happened in their past that may have brought them here. Maybe the person dealing with anger is being hurt or feels helpless in situations and doesn’t have a way to release that. One could use the behavioral perspective and find a way to change their current situation for better results. The same could be said about the person with depression. As stated in the video by Sam Sommers from Tuffs University "It is the study of daily life". The video's goal was to show how everyone could benefit from studying psychology. I realized that psychology is more than just meeting someone from counseling, but it is more complex. There are many different roles that a psychologist could play in our economy. One of the things that they do, which I didn’t realize, is meeting with business and helping employees know how to handle certain social issues. The second video Diverse Perspectives talked about how not all psychologists have the same view on psychological issues. There are actually seven different perspectives that one psychologist might fall into; however not all of them agree with just one idea. I found this video interesting because I didn’t realize that they didn’t have to agree on one idea. Knowing this makes me appreciate this science all the
