This book is based on the contents of ‘Emotional Intelligence’ in 1995 showing how to be leaders and organisations with Emotional Intelligence. Traditionally reason had been the key of business world, but this book has raised Emotional Intelligence for the key.

In Primal Leadership, Daniel Goleman divided leadership style into six and discovered they are related to Emotional Intelligence. The six leadership styles are below :

1. Coercive leadership.
Their Emotional Intelligences are leverage, ability to achieve and progressiveness. They usually acquire immediate obedience. They are not likely to accept other members’ opinions, but give directions clearly. Furthermore, they control the organisation severely and want detailed report from their employees. They just want others to follow him/her, but do not like to explain. This kind of leadership focuses on bad results rather than good ones. As this style is the worst effective one, other types of leadership need to be used with this one. It should be used very carefully.

2. Visionary leadership
Their EI are conviction, awareness and inspiration, so they express their goals clearly and share with other members. They lead firmly but fair for long term vision. This style leads positive environment, passion, hope and dedication.This type of leadership is especially effective when the business is into turning point or needs changes for new vision.
