Ineffective communication is communication that is meant to be interpreted one way but is really interpreted in another. In the book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close a lot of ineffective communication was seen. Some of this was from grandma and grandpa. these were Oskar’s grandparents. Oskar and his mother had a lot of ineffective communication. Oskar is the protagonist of the story, and he doesn’t communicate well with his mother, after the death of his father in a 9/11 attack. With all of the communication issues it has lead to having the meaning of the story and the emotions behind it different than what they would have been had they communicated efficiently. In the book there were a number of times with ineffective communication; this affected the events and the characters in the story because, grandma and grandpa would have never broken up if they would have talked, Oskar and his mothers relationship wouldn’t have had such a strain, and when Thomas and grandma had something and nothing spaces, these impacted the story.

Without effective communication in business, there is no business, so one must know how to communicate. CEO’s, employees, salespeople, pretty much everybody cannot just assume that they know how to communicate because it takes time and practice to be effective. First things first, when talking business, having the right attitude is important. Attitude plays a big part in communication; it can be a deciding factor on whether or not the prospect will feel comfortable consulting with the salesperson. After the prospect feels comfortable, the next step is informing them about the product or idea that is trying to be sold. Techniques such as negotiation and marketing plans give the prospect an idea of how the product will benefit them. Knowing how to talk business is the main objective along with building a trust level with the customer. If the customer likes what he or she sees, then the last step is to secure them as a client and seal the deal. Technology seems to advance more and more every day. So much that communication has evolved to email or text message. The evolution of communication in the business
