All throughout Bon Jovi’s song “Livin’ on a Prayer” it shows a tone of being depressed and having hope. They shows this throughout the song to say having someone to lean on, in rough times, can help you get through them. This is most prevalent when he sings “Take my hand, we'll make it I swear” and “Baby it’s okay, someday”. Bon Jovi uses terms like metaphor, personification, irony and even connotation to show a tone of depression and hopefulness. Bon Jovi used literary terms like personification when he said “Now he’s holding in what he used to make it talk” with it being a guitar. Where selling the guitar led to depression. Irony when he said “Baby it’s okay, someday”. Connotation when he sings “You live for the fight when it’s
In this paper I will evaluate two songs that deal with depression and discuss their similarities and differences. The songs under evaluation are the early nineties hit Jeremy by Pearl Jam and the recent hit Adams Song by Blink 182.
The bad news in our lives at the time, of course, was our dad being sick. With that being said, this song gave us hope that, that bad news would someday bring about good news and that we should not worry. When Megan heard this song a different lyric stood out to her. “And we'll all float on OK”. She picked this lyric out, specifically, because it made her think of the time she had gotten in a wreck, pulling out of her high school parking lot. She said that she had to stay positive and remain optimistic because she knew that one day, everything would just ‘float on’.
For my rhetorical analysis paper I chose to use one of the most influential British singers of all time, John Lennon. In his song Imagine, the very first line, "Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try," (John Lennon, Imagine), causes the listener to automatically begin thinking. The song is emotionally filled and full of instances where a listener is forced to think of what Lennon is saying in the song. Lennon was considered a very influential leader in efforts of world peace during his time, and still to this day his messages reach across the world in his music. Songs such as “Imagine” which still have a strong and powerful message decades after its first release. Lennon had a simple style and approach which left nothing for deliberation, leading the listener straight to the point of his messages. "Imagine" is one of the best examples of this, Lennon establishes his point multiple times throughout this song and it creates a bond with his listeners which in turn creates a trust within himself and his words.
It appears the Holy Spirit has graciously lead me into your midst for my required internship this academic year. As a student at United Theological Seminary for a second masters in Religious Leadership, I am writing to you today to tell you a little bit about myself.
Artist, Kesha, co-wrote and sang the song titled “Praying.” In the video that she created for the song she shows us, the audience, what she went through during her healing process from the sexual and mental violence she received. Through many methods, such as religious references, Kesha took us through her journey through ethos, logos, and pathos.

Songs, used to create messages, give singers the ability to speak about concerns that are relevant in the current everyday life. A powerful ways songwriters achieve this is by applying the use of imagery. Lyricists use this help readers of literary works to understand specific ideas that the writer is trying to convey. By using symbolism in songs, singers can discuss issues in ways that connect with the listener on a deeper level. Using this method in songwriting is crucial when discussing important subjects; influencing the public in a way that is not direct and more effective. In “ Don’t You Cry For Me,” songwriter Cobi uses repeated images of trees and individuals hanging as metaphors for his feelings towards facing injustice. It is through
Per your request, below are my findings from monitoring LaGwenda’s prayer calls today. I started at the prayer script location and from the information Joe had given regarding her tone being somewhat monotone, I can see how this could be perceived. I think she does an okay job, but what is really lacking is the heart. LaGwenda is only using the general prayer script and she does not always put heart into it, so it can be perceived as monotone. She needs to utilize all prayer scripts when callers only have one specific prayer need.
5. What is your basis of ethics? My basics of ethics was taught by my grandma she instilled a lot of her values and morals in my life giving me the teachings that made her a bright woman. She made sure to start on me early by getting me involved in church and helping me understand my religion and god and what he expects from his people. "The first precept was never to accept a thing as true until I knew it as such without a single doubt."
The power of prayer is heavily emphasized in this film. The movie shows life without prayer and when you fight by yourself. “Fighting” by yourself is tough because we aren’t strong enough to win
Many consider themselves fortunate that their prayers are answered, and unfortunate when they are not. Even so, unanswered prayer is not unfortunate; it is unreasonable. It would be nonsensical to say to say that with a bit of luck, 2 + 2 = 4; yet many consider themselves lucky when things add up. However, to not get the same answer that everyone else gets is not a misfortune; it is a mistake. When working with a principle, the results, or lack thereof, cannot be attributed to good luck or bad luck. Luck has nothing to do with the application or operation of universal principles; and, whether they are principles of physics or metaphysics makes no difference, for the laws of nature and reality, of the physical and spiritual, are still principles
Prayer is an essential discipline of the Christian faith. History and cultural differences show us that many people engage in many different ways and techniques to pray and communicate with God. How do you find the right way for you?

regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You: that your eyes may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.” (2 Chronicles 6:14-15, 18-21)
