The Olympics started April 6, 1896, the first games played in the olympics were boxing, chariot racing, pankration, javelin, jumping, running, wrestling. The Olympics have been held all over the world. People from all over the world come to compete in the different olympic games. The Olympic games go all the way to 776 BC and was first taken place in Ancient Greece. The Olympics have an interesting Beginning along with a few but competitive events that have changed drastically over time.

It is on a track or field, a spear is thrown. They start running create momentum and then throw it. The javelin that is thrown weighs about 1.8 pounds. The Women's Javelin weighs about 1.3 pounds.
There is many types of running in the Olympics. There is the 800 meter for women, high jump, long jump and many others. The men can run up to a 10000 meter race, which is very long. The least they can run is 400 meters. The women can run no less than 100 meters.
Pankration was introduced to the olympics in 648 BC. There weren’t any rules for the game at the time. The athletes used techniques from wrestling and boxing. The word “Pankration” means “all of power”.They were not allowed to bite or gauge out each others eyes.
Chariot Racing was a dangerous Game for the rider and the horse. Sometimes violence had broke out because each other. Byzantine Emperors would take control of the teams when they were fighting too much. The sport started to fade in the west area.
