Animal Cruelty There have been many laws that have been placed on animal cruelty, but oddly the government still thinks it’s alright to be able to use animal cruelty. They have laws that limit the usage of animal cruelty and if ever they find someone who is being cruel to any sort of animal, then they are arrested immediately and held in the court of law, though we still have science facilities that are using poor animals as test subjects it is not alright to be able to use any sort of living creature as test subjects. To harm them though they cannot defend themselves, to use a test subject should be against the law for everyone and not just citizens. Just the thought of animal cruelty is not one to bare, knowing that animals just like
“Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to,” said Alfred A. Montapert, the author of The Supreme Philosophy Of Man. Many animals who have given people their love have been cast off or mistreated. The Humane Society Of The United States(HSUS) has made it their mission since 1954 to prevent this cruelty before it happens. The four founders of HSUS Helen Jones, Larry Andrews, Marcia Glaser, and Fred Meyers, all believed in this mission. I believe that the Humane Society Of The United States has a worthwhile and honorable mission. It is one of the best. Not only does it save thousands of animal lives each year it also works with law enforcement to investigate illegal animal cruelty. HSUS has more than 10 million members and uses its money wisely. If you donate just $19 a month to HSUS you will be doing a grand service and you will join the revolution to stop animal cruelty before it happens. You will be a part of preventing some of the
The mistreatment of animals is a serious problem within our society for a variety of reasons. While current laws and conditions are improving, there is still a
An estimated 25 million or more animals are used yearly in the U.S. These animals are commonly used in biomedical research as “models” for human disease, they are also used in basic biomedical research which is research for general understanding. Not only are animals used in biomedical research but, behavioral research as well, such as psychology and addiction studies, military, space, and agricultural research, product development and drug testing, as well as science education. Animals shouldn’t be used for such testing, these tests are unethical, inhumane and completely unnecessary. Thousands of animals suffer and die every day in laboratories around the world. In most states, abuse or cruelty towards animals is illegal. A person can face up to 7 years in prison and a fine of maximum $235,600. If it is illegal for cruelty to be conducted on animals why does it make it okay in the name of science?
Many people may not know that animal cruelty has been around for hundreds of years. . In the article "Animal Cruelty Prosecution" published by American Prosecution Research Institute found that, The Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony established “The Body of Liberties” found by the Animal Cruelty Prosecution, in 1641. The Body of Liberties was a document written for the protection of animals from unnecessary pain and suffering. Animal cruelty happens every day whether it is from starving, beating, lack of medical care or proper housing for animals. We are in need of stricter laws to help fight the rights of animals. Animal laws should be more strict on people
At this very moment, there are approximately 250 million cows being used in the dairy industry. 9 million of those cows are in America, and 16.5 percent of those will die from disease. That’s just one of the outcomes on a dairy farm. Animal cruelty is intentionally inflicting suffering or harm upon any non-human animal, whether it is legal or not. Dairy farms fall under the “animal cruelty” label for many reasons. Not only do cows get injected with hormones that cause disease, but they also have to live in unsanitary living conditions, and the cows suffer with a lot of health and emotional problems due to forced impregnation.
Many jurisdictions around the world have enacted laws that forbid cruelty to animals but most of the time they vary by country and the use or
People shouldn’t have any rights to abuse or neglect animals and get away with it easily. Animal abuse is a big conflict because some people get away with these acts in which they don’t get punished or little punishment while the animals don’t get to live happy lives and suffer. Hiding in pain that these occurrences that happened to them with procide over and over again. However, in the article “Frequently Asked Questions About Animal Cruelty” by The Humane Society of the United States, it states that “ Animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under the control of others. The motive may be to shock, threaten, intimidate, or offend others or to demonstrate rejection of society's rules. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts they have seen or that have been done to them. Others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against—or threaten—someone who cares about that animal.” (The Humane Society of the United States, 2017) This states that there are reasons why people do what they do to the animals but it still doesn’t give them the right to harm or mistreat them. The article also states that
“Hormone-free”, “organic”, “grass-fed”, and “natural” are labels that animal and plant producers use to inform consumers of what they are eating. These claims are misleading and usually increase the prices of those products. By increasing the price and sticking a label that reads “natural” makes consumers think that this product is better for them. Animal Welfare Approved gives an example of an egg carton boasting the statement that its eggs are “natural.” This statement can legally come from an industrial farm where the hens do not forage the way a chicken does “naturally.” According to the USDA, farms have to get organic certifications and accreditations in order to sell, label, and represent their products as organic. It is difficult to
Animal Cruelty is described as “the deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal” (Miller, 2016). The maltreatment of animals in society today is an issue that is continuously addressed without much actual change. Laws are established but not fully implemented to those who break the law. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty include dog fighting, puppy mills, horse slaughtering, neglect, and animal experimentation. Dog fighting is a common form of gambling in the United States where dogs are forced to fight each other for the entertainment and profit of the spectators. It is considered a felony in all 50 states; however, it continues to be an ongoing issue in the U.S. and internationally. Behind the actual dog
In America, we come across serious environmental issues about poverty, domestic abuse, ending world hunger ect. Animal cruelty isn’t one of those topics that isn’t being put out there more. We see it all around like the commercials on tv that tell you to donate money to help the poor stray dogs. People don’t see how much damage we can cause to them, but if we got together we can help stop this madness. In the article, Counting cruelty: Challenges and opportunities in assessing animal abuse and neglect in America it briefly says “Cruelty to animals is a crime.” (Lockwood 87). Laws were made for this problem way back. Our laws help keep society in a proper place with no hysteria.Which means people like us should pay attention more to our surroundings.
A population in America that often goes unnoticed is the animal population. Each year, approximately 7.6 million animals enter animal shelters nationwide (ASPCA). Of those 7.6 million, 2.7 million will be euthanized. I believe that no matter what species, no living being should ever be euthanized simply because there is not enough room for them. The ASPCA, or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world (ASPCA). This organization was found on the beliefs that animals should be treated respectfully under the supervision of humans, and that no animal should be killed.
Government data on domestic violence cases reveal a staggering number of animals are victimized by abusive partners each year. The HSUS estimates that nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in connection with domestic violence. Do you believe animals have feelings like us human? Do you think they know when they are getting abused? All around the world there are hundreds, maybe thousands of ways animals get abused, mentally, physically and emotionally. Innocent creatures put on this earth for our happiness, for our food for our amusement are getting abused from the humans cruel ways of life. There are many animals around the world crying out for help, hoping for deliverance from the cruel animal abuse
However, the people who do these things only get a misdemeanor and a fine, maybe even some jail time. This issue is not very concerning to some people, but it should be a very big issue. For example, an event in Georgia involved a dog sitting in a hot vehicle with all the windows rolled up. A veteran man saw the dog in there and broke out one of the windows to save the dog, however, it is illegal to break a car window to save a dog in the state of Georgia. Therefore, the man was arrested and the lady who left the dog in the car was only given a fine. This is insane! Animal cruelty needs to be heard about worldwide and people need to realize that they are hurting a creature who can have or feel emotions just as we can! So if we would not hurt another human, why would you hurt a defenseless
In the last decade, the views and forms of animal cruelty have changed. Many people have different views of an animal’s rights or purpose. Some people believe that animals have no rights and are a piece of property to be utilized by humans. To others, animals can still be used by humans, but they have emotions as well. A few people consider that only certain animals with high intelligence like chimpanzees or monkeys, should not be used by man, and they should have all the rights that man has currently (“Animal Rights” , 2009). Domestic violence has a correlation with animal abuse. In a survey, 71% of domestic violence victims also reported that their abuser also targeted pets/animals. The most common animals who are abused are cats, dogs, horses,
We are fond of progress, mines, speedy trains, luxurious homes, and of smooth roads and at the same time we want a peace of mind where we can take a rest for few days in the jungles or in remote area from the chaotic and tensed urban life. That clearly shows human being has fond of development as well as environment. Over to the time this fact is accepted that sustainable development and protection of environment are two side of one coin. Recent incidents shows that supporters of both the side are conflicting with each other like these are enemies of each other’s. Recent statistics from Maharashtra shows that compensation amount which is given to the victims of the animal attack is too high and that can be wisely and effectively invested into the precautionary measures and for the rehabilitation of the animals. Many animals like elephants, tigers, peacock etc. are getting unnatural death because of trains in many areas of country. We are using the jungles to build dams, railway tracks and many things which are for the development of the human fraternity, but at the same time we are not thoughtful about water places, ways of the animals and which are resulted into the attack of the animals on people. Even then no one is serious about preserving jungles. Indian railway has planned to cut down 2800 Km forest for the widening the railway line in country and the same proposal is pending in the front
