I’m sitting in my first class of the day. I skipped breakfast because traffic was going to be horrible. Now, I’m here, stuck with an empty stomach. When we are starving, we usually crave the first food item we can find. I figure someone who hates, I mean, completely loathes broccoli would eat it if it meant the broccoli would stop their starvation. I’m not stuck on a deserted island with limited resources. I’m a college student who is very hungry. Isn’t that the same thing? After I leave my class, my stomach starts to growl louder than I’ve ever heard. I didn’t have time to make a lunch the night before because I was busy working on my heaps of homework. As soon as I hit another building, sweet aromas of grease fill my nose. My mouth’s …show more content…
The Fritos Chicken Enchilada Melt is 1,160 calories for a footlong. That sub was only your lunch. If you feel the need, add a drink. For the rest of your day, you only have 840 calories left. Is that sub going to hold you off for long? Have you realized the problem? College students are always in a rush. We’re constantly moving from place to place. Think about a drive-through. People in their cars order food and they quickly get it. They do this because they’re in a rush. Now that I’ve told you this, think about all the places for food at Anne Arundel Community College. They conveniently pop up near your classes. The healthier food options are in the cafeteria, but your class starts in 10 minutes, and Subway is right there.
The problem is unhealthy food at Anne Arundel Community College and its links to stress. Fast food is packed with sugar, especially added sugar. When we consume sugar, our blood sugar rises. Rising blood sugar links to mood swings, stress, and an unhealthy body. Foods in the cafeteria are packed with artificial sweeteners, which are the cause of headaches. Artificial sweeteners also can become addictive over time and with mass consumption, making you crave more sweets than you really need. Check the label before you buy yogurt or gum. The biggest issue with unhealthy foods is that they are high in processed or refined carbohydrates. Processed carbohydrates provide no nutrition for the consumer. Those calories in that cookie
The history of Texas A&M University, the first public institution of higher education in Texas. The Texas A&M University was first approved by the United States Congress on July 2, 1862. This act provided for donation of public land to the states for the purpose of funding higher education whose “leading object shall be, without excluding other scientific and classical studies, and including military tactics, to teach such branches of learning as are related to agriculture and mechanic arts." The State of Texas agreed to create a college under the terms of the morrill act in November 1866, but actual formation didn’t come until the establishment of the Agricultural and mechanical College of Texas by the state legislature on April 17, 1871. A commission created to locate the institution accepted the offer of 2,416 acres of land from the citizens of Brazos County
In the McWhorter School of Building Science in the College of Architecture, students have had a 100% employment rate in the two previous semesters (Nobles). This statistic alone shows one perk Auburn University has over many other colleges. Auburn University is the best college because it has the best job opportunities, the best major, and the best traditions.
Oakland fell into the Alternative Education Law program. Students worked at their own pace and speed to complete school. Oakland High School generally graduated between 15-20 students a year. Several smaller programs existed within the school, such as Region 5, or ALC (Alternative Learning Center) program or Lincoln Tree Farm. Region 5 were for student who were in transition from just being released from either Echo Glenn or Green hill youth jail facilities. They worked with a JRA representatives and would complete school work and prepare to reenter the comprehensive high school setting. They would have no contact with the remainder of the building and programs. This program ended during the 2007-2008 school year.
At my graduate assistantship at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), the graduate students from Monmouth were introduced to a few of the key offices that work with Residential Education and Housing. Through this introduction, I was able to meet Kelly Hennessy, who is the current Associate Dean of Students in the Department of Health and Wellness at The College of New Jersey. As a future Student Affairs professional, one of my end goals would ultimately become a Dean of Students, so it was exciting to interview Hennessy and see how she got to where she is today. Originally when Hennessy first started her college years, she thought that she wanted to be a teacher. After working with the professionals in her Residence Life Office and Leadership Office at the University of Buffalo, where she received both her bachelors and master’s degrees, she realized that her passion was no longer teaching, but rather to become the professionals she was surrounded and inspired by every day. Hennessy has worked in Residence Life for majority of her career up to about two years ago when the Department of Health and Wellness first started on TCNJ’s campus.
Firstly, it is a well-known fact that eating too much fast food is extremely unhealthy. Foods such
For Hillsborough Community College to attract the most students and achieve higher retention rates, Differentiated Marketing would be the best practice. Because Hillsborough Community College is predominantly diverse, target marketing groups should include dual-enrolled students, recent high-school graduates, young adults, and career-oriented adults seeking higher education. A smaller marketing group to consider is the mature adult over the age of 60 who are seeking recreational classes. Promotional messages should be developed to target each group in order to increase attraction and retention in each group category. The main marketing focus of HCC has been on the high school market, and not in actively recruiting the adult market (Clarus 16). Though the high school market may always display a greater percentage of students attending HCC, other marketing groups may show an improved interest if promotional messages are targeted to each group, thus increasing overall attendance.
The walking tour of Elizabeth City State University is a study of the university’s history from the perspective of student education landmarks, dorm landmarks, and attraction landmarks.
Being nominated for Michigan Junior Honor Society is a big deal and accomplishment for me. I really value education and I feel that this will really help me with my education and in being a better person. As my teachers did, I believe I would be a good student for MJHS. I do all sorts of activities in and out of school and in the past I’ve done many things to give back to the community.
I became interested in Wake Forest University because I see myself there. I see myself discovering solutions for contemporary issues through research, writing, and critical thinking in Professor Leuschen's Waves of Change: Global Social Movements Writing Seminar. I see myself studying immorality as a rhetorical device within literature in Professor Ekstrand's Writing Through Evil Writing Seminar. I see myself expanding my knowledge of English literature in Professor Sigal's Gateway to the Study of English Literature course. I see myself sitting in Professor Wilson's Creative Nonfiction Workshop, mastering the genre. I see myself pondering on
In the industry of chicken nuggets, I think that they’re unhealthy for us. The food is processed and we don’t really know what’s in our food that we’re eating. The nuggets are made differently they’re not made the same as others so some may be healthier than others or some may not be healthier than others. That’s very effective to us because our body change throughout time as we’re eating the fast food. On the menus, it will tell the calories sometimes but it won’t tell you what’s in the food that you’re eating and they don’t tell you what you’re eating because they want you to buy their food and to taste how good it is that’s why it’s so popular worldwide. According to A history of Chicken Nuggets, John-Bryan Hopkins the author Explains chicken
Dana-Hall, is a well known and respected all-girl boarding and day school (6-12 grade) competing in a time period in which social attitudes towards single sex education is shrinking. Measures of demographics and social trends indicate a clear shift towards a co-educational school environment. This new reality, where demand is decreasing faster than supply, results in declining numbers of potential female applicants over which the last four all-girl boarding and day schools are aggressively competing to maintain continues enrolment figures. Other former all-girl schools have either moved to admit boys or merged with better-funded boys schools to avoid bankruptcy. On top of these constraints, and in direct relation, Dana-Hall is also
5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are most likely to be made—for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be made) Using the same decision-tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per-movie value of the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios?
Typical college students tend to procrastinate on their work. This leads to an “all-nighters” when students stay up the whole night to cram for an exam or finish writing an essay that is due the next morning. Most of the time, students get hungry during these all-nighters and stock up on unhealthy snacks like sodas and foods loaded with sugar to keep them awake through the night. With the dining halls so close to student housing, this makes stocking up on greasy, fried, and sugary food very convenient. The dining halls that provide these sugar-filled and greasy food gives students the wrong kind of energy. For real energy that keeps a student alert and focused, students should snack on fruits, whole grains, proteins, and carbohydrates. Eating foods like these will keep students awake and focus.

Food -- it is a necessity. There is not one person who does not think about it on a daily basis. For a college student, the quality of food available is not always to the highest of standards. Many students can not afford to buy expensive food or eat out on a regular basis. Many times their only option left is to eat from their school’s dining halls.
