Why are zoos taking animals out of the wild? They Are meant to be wild. They take animals out of their natural habitat. I believe that zoos are not good for animals My first reason why zoos are not good for animals is, they don't treat the animals well. For example, a panda bear died from rat poisoning at a zoo. Some zoos don't even follow the laws. Some animals don't get enough exercise and can get injured. Zebras have died from starvation. According to Are Wild Animals Meant To Be Wild? My second reason is zoos are still not meeting the standards and there are still many problems with zoos. Even zoo's conservation efforts are not always successful. Animals have a lack of privacy, are kept in small spaces and unable to engage in natural
Zoos have been around for 4,000 years, for many years people have gone to zoos to see wild animals up close. What people do not know is animals don't have the best interest in being in a zoo. The article, "Zoos: The Historical Debate" from Globalanimal.org discusses some pros (positive sides) and cons (negative sides) of zoos. As well as how millions of people visit zoos around the world and how some argue that zoos are either places of education and conversation or unnecessary prisons. After reading the article a logical conclusion is zoos are detrimental to animals.
In the article, “Should we have zoos?” by Shayna Orens, it talks about the arguments between keeping or getting rid of zoos. Zoos can seem like a fun place to go learn about species you have never seen before but it seems to be very inhumane for the animals. It almost violates the basic way of living for the animals and takes away their natural habitat. It's a waste of money building these enclosures when it is still not going to be exactly what animals are looking for to live the way they are supposed to be living. The article gives plenty of evidence to help support why zoos should not be a thing.
It’s human nature to have compassion towards animals and an instinct to react if they are abused or mistreated. This human nature is the foundation to the controversial topic of whether zoos are ethical to have. With this issue, there are various reasons that promote the importance of zoos along with reasons to why they can be considered immoral. Both sides are essentially equal and fighting for the same result, the well-being of the animal both physically and mentally. It’s difficult to determine which side is right, but I believe that zoos are beneficial to not only humans but the animals as well.
Zoos may seem fun to visit and exciting to see the animals; but what you don’t see is the suffering and depression that lies in these helpless creatures. There are many arguments whether or not zoos are good or bad, and if they should be removed or kept. Several think that zoos should be abolished or at least very much improved, due to animal cruelty. While, others want zoos to stay because it is beneficial for the animals and people. I strongly believe that zoos aren’t good for both the public and animals for numerous reasons.
One of the reasons is that animals get hurt in zoos. In the article “13 Zoos Were Bad For Animals” A bear starved to death in the Toledo zoo, this makes me think that maybe they didn't want the bear because they need to be fed a lot, but it is still cruel. Why do they do that? Another example is a zoo killed a 2 year old giraffe and fed it to lions. I have thought about this why would you kill it it was healthy, if it was sick let it heal ,if it was weak
Another reason I think zoos are bad is because the animals are deprived from air, sunlight, and companionship. One example from the text is, say people send 100 animals out of a zoo and put them into the wild and over half of the
Zoos are terrible places for animals that do not belong in cages. Zoos include roadside zoos, petting zoos, and smaller animal exhibits. The animals they have are meant to be out in the wild not locked up in cages. The areas are not big enough for them to be animals. They are held in captivity with nowhere to go because if they try to break out, they are going to get shot down. Animals are not meant for entertainment. If you want to see an animal there are many websites with live cameras in order to see it. Also, if you want to see animals the animals should have a free range area and the people ride around in cars to look. The people should take the chances of getting beaten, eaten, trampled, etc. Zoos make money off poor animals who have no choice
Zoos have always been criticized because some claim that animals are being abused and mistreated due to the lack and care of certain zoos. However, zoos actually help many animals with research and are critically important for conservation purposes. People need to understand that zoos have programs that breed endangered animals as well as rescue programs for exotic animals that people are no longer able to support. Also, they have many hands on activities that allow people to get more connected to animals. In addition, zoos do not only focus on animals. They focus on environmental problems/concerns as well. Zoos help us stay educated about environmental impacts and animal care.
We go to zoos for entertainment and our own amusement, however we should consider if it’s beneficial or harmful for animals. There are more than 1,000 zoos worldwide. Many of them that have about 1,800 animals from 300 species. Animals don’t deserve to be caged up and shown off at zoos because they get forced to breed, are in bad habitats, and are treated poorly.
Some critics may argue that Zoos are a harmful and inhumane method of commercializing animals. While this may be true, zoos also are very beneficial not just to animals but to humans because they bring communities together and foster an appreciation of animals. This exposure motivates and educates people into protecting the animals. Rebecca Madden, a time staff
Many zoos claim that the reason why they exist and continue to breed animals is to help and protect endangered species, but that’s not true. I believe you shouldn’t keep animals in zoos because captivity often makes them crazy, zoo’s care more about the money, zoo’s are dangerous for animals.
Putting animals in zoos is almost like putting people in jail, because they can't get out if they want to, get forced to be put in, and have only so much space to live in.
My first point is that if we let them all go in the wild, they will not be able to protect themselves from all the environmental hazards or the poachers, so they will perish more easily and quickly. The zoo’s job is to keep animals safe in an enclosed area from the outside where there are many dangers and well away from poachers, so the animals can produce more babies effectively in a well constructed habitat where the can grow up and increase numbers.
Some people agree that animals should be kept in the zoo. They said it would be safer for the animals and they won’t be extinct. The amount of possibilities of them dying, shot by hunters or any other reason, still higher than the chances of their survival. Food and shelter are provided, medicine, and their breeding is being controlled. And many of the wild animals in zoos are ones that are on the endangered list as their amounts are rapidly diminishing. Letting them loose and returning them to the wild is not necessarily a safe option. (Mylot, 2007) In fact, zoo can be one of the educational studies for children and people who are interested with animals. Zoo is the only place that we can have an opportunity to see animal’s life really close and sometimes we can touch them. Zoos also provide lots of information about certain animals, children can have chance to get out of the classroom and learn so they can see natural beauty from different species of animals. Even children can see them from discovery channel but that’s really different if you see animal in real world, for an example, if you see crocodile, snake or shark in the movie, maybe you won’t afraid than you see the real one. According to Tudge, (1992, p.56) Zoos are the place where people can study animals and their habitat, even scientist don’t need to go
First I am against zoos because of animal cruelty, abuse, and stress on the animals. At zoos many people hit and yell at the animals through the glass and that is a type of abuse and it makes the animals stressed and/or depressed. This shows abuse and stress towards the animals, instead of doing that you could just LOOK. Animals may not be as depressed and boring to see. Also zoos trade or sell off animals because they don't make as much money as baby animals. The adult animals get put in a circus or get slaughtered. Imagine if you got sold or slaughtered because you weren't a baby anymore. How would you feel? This also shows abuse and animal cruelty because they might have to live their life in a circus or have their ended because you are an adult. Finally, people throw trash in the cages so the animals can die or get sick. They also can't escape if there is a flood, fire, or other disasters. So they die of get hurt which is abuse. FInally this shows
