Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of human pregnancy, most often performed during the first twenty-eight weeks. In South Carolina, abortion is legal which causes an ongoing controversy between those who agree and disagree. This is a sensitive subject that can get very heated. Pregnant women will argue that abortion is okay because a fetus does not feel pain, I totally disagree. There are certain circumstances that I understand why an abortion may be needed. Situations like emergency medical problems with the mother or baby could be a legit reason for an abortion
One reason abortion is wrong is because you are not giving your baby the right to life. Your baby was not asked to be born, you made the selfish choice to conceive

In this case, mothers should consider giving a women who cannot conceive, the opportunity to be a mother. The adoptive parents would be appreciative of getting the chance to be parents and giving your child the life that you could not give them. I believe that this would be the better option because your giving the joy of life to others who will appreciate it.
Women argue that abortion is not bad because a fetus does not feel pain, but this is wrong because studies have been shown to prove that fetus’s indeed do experience pain. Bernard N. Nathanson, MD, stated that, when an abortion is performed on a twelve week old fetus, “We see (in an ultrasound image) the child’s mouth open in a silent scream…This is the silent scream of a child threatened imminently with extinction.” With this evidence we can indeed prove that a fetus does experience pain. Many people misconceive the fact that you do have a real human in your stomach, it can feel pain, a fetus is not invincible.
Some women try to argue the fact that rape is a good excuse for an abortion, but I still do not agree. A baby did not ask to come in this world just like you did not ask to be raped. Rape is a horrible thing, but I think if you were to get pregnant from rape you should try to make the best of it. That sounds weird, but I believe that in all bad situations there is a blessing. The baby might turn out to be the best thing that ever came into your life. Every baby has a
As stated on USNews.com, “In countries like Brazil, Chile, Ireland, Nigeria, Iran, etc.… Women and girls 12 or older could be raped and they could become pregnant. According to theatlantic.com, “Over 4,000 women have been assaulted, which have to lead to pregnancy.” In all, over 321,500 women and children have been sexually assaulted each year in the United States. Yes, these children and women have been sexually assaulted it’s really difficult. Being sexual assaulted can cause mental problems, but having an abortion can add on to this problem, which causes mental breakdowns and psychological problems. Which could also cause damage to the way someone lives and the way they act? These women and children that were raped can feel used and abused. This causes the young and old mom to consider the child, as not there’s, which can cause
When it comes to abortion, everyone has a slightly different view. Whether one believes that no one, or everyone, should be allowed to get an abortion, the same question comes into play: Is abortion ethical? In addition, when does a human life actually start? Without concrete facts, we can only do so much with those questions, which is why this is such a controversial topic. We need to consider all the facts and information available. For example, whether or not a fetus feels pain, how old the fetus is, and what condition the pregnant woman is in. The main argument comes down to pro-life versus pro-choice. After doing extensive research, I have come to agree with the side of pro-choice, meaning that
The Oxford Dictionary defines abortion as the expulsion of a fetus, naturally or especially by medical induction, from the womb before it is able to survive independently, especially in the first 28 weeks of a human pregnancy. Today many argue whether abortion should be legal in the United States. Some show religious views while others show civic views. The basis of such a debate should be on medical information. It is evident that abortion is harmful to the mother. Although women feel relief after the operation, they do not perceive at least the physical consequences. The outcome of most abortions is graphic and painful.
Furthermore, abortion is seen as murder by many individuals (reason #7). I strongly agree with this statement even if fetuses supposedly can’t feel pain but that is still killing an individual’s own child. Although, if the doctor tells you the baby wont be born healthy (brain dead or deformed) then you can get an abortion (reason #6). This is a situation that is possible, but people should not abort there own baby based on the assumption that it could be deformed.
Many people base their opinion on if abortion is wrong is based off the opinion of when a person feels that life has begun. Many women who discover that they will be having a baby soon become really happy about the idea. Also, some who get abortions feel that pregnancy is nothing more than an inconvenience. Sometimes this inconvenience is sought to be an issue that can easily be resolved such as adoption or abortion methods. There are also times where conflicting issues create consideration about if the baby should be kept.
What is an abortion though? It seems as everyone has their own definition to what an abortion is. According to the Law Dictionary, the definition of an abortion is the artificial of spontaneous termination of a pregnancy before the embryo or fetus can survive on its own outside of the mother 's womb. ("What is") One author, in the article "Can We Talk About Abortion," describes abortion as "morally problematic, pastorally delicate, legislatively thorny and widely performed." (Inspire)
Many people think of abortion as murder and that killing an innocent, unborn human being is wrong. Abortion is a fundamental right and a right of privacy for a woman. She should be able to make a decision of whether or not she has the child. If a woman doesn’t want to have a child and has no choice but to have it, then that child is more likely to be given up for adoption or even neglected or abused. Unexpected pregnancies can lead to birth defects, depression for the mother (which can affect the baby) and reduced amounts of breastfeeding.
If a woman becomes pregnant and does not want the baby some say that they should go through the pregnancy then give the baby up for adoption instead of receiving an abortion. This gives the baby a chance of having a life and there other multiple ways and types of adoptions. If it is not a stable time in one’s life you can have an adoption staying in contact with the adoption parents who will be able to give the baby a better
My big sister April has always told my other sister Kali that if she is grown enough to spread her legs she is grown enough to have a baby, because it can happen. If a woman does not want a baby then they should not be having sex. I do understand that sometimes a child is conceived because of rape, and that is a big reason why some pro-choice activists believe in abortion. However, I still believe it is wrong because just like the woman did not consent to sex the baby isn’t consenting to a death sentence. It is not the baby’s fault, so it should not be taken out on the baby.
But what if the fetus inside the mother isn't one of her own, what if the mother is the victim of the crime? I can totally understand how most victims would agree that it would be better to suffer through the pain of abortion than to have to live with a deformed child, or even worse a child that is not really their own as a result of rape or incest. "Victims of these crimes also report feeling dirty, guilty, and sexually violated." But nothing is as bad as having to be constantly reminded of the traumatic experience you went through everyday you see your child's eyes as the man who raped you. Furthermore, your child too is a victim with no father, and having to live with the fact that he/she was unwillingly brought into the world out of force.
Woman have many reasons for seeking an abortion.Their are a few abortions cases that introduce special factors. For instance when the fetus has been found dead there is no reason to carry it full term. Another example would be when the embryo is diagnosed as having a severe disorder or genetic defect. In the case of multiple pregnancy, some if not all the the fetuses will end up with various long term health problems; some may not survive at all. The woman may elect to go through a selective reduction procedure, which involves the killing of one or more fetuses in order to give the remaining fetuses a better chance to be born healthy. In view of situations where the prenagancy resulted from rape or incest I dont fell a woman should have to bare a child conceived in violence unless it’s by her choice.
A long on-going subject that has been greatly debated in our society is abortion. Many people argue that because the baby in the mother’s womb is not alive, aborting him or her is not considered a murder. However, others say that as the baby’s heart and brain are the first things to develop, the baby is technically alive and killing it would be a murder. As soon as the baby has a heartbeat, it has life. Abortion has many characteristics of a murder, including the killing of one human being by another, it’s unethical, and it is done without the consent of the person.
It is totally wrong to not give or to deny a child its right to live on the earth with every other human. People are taking the side of the United Sates should not allow abortion to be a practice. It is immoral and it is murder to the baby in the womb. If you do not want the child you birthed you can give it up for adoption, and not kill it when it has no say. People, as well as myself, feel that abortion is against their
There are many ways of coping with the effects of rape, and “with some studies suggesting rape may result in higher rates of pregnancy than consensual intercourse” (Wikipedia).
Some would say no, as the child doesn't necessarily have to keep the baby after it is born. Adoption is a process that would help both parties involved (the mother and adoptee), it would bring happiness to a family that may
