On the poster, it says "There is still a place in the line for YOU!" The poster have a line of men with a board in the middle that says "this space is reserved for a fit man". One poster encourages support of the war by joining the Air Force with the slogan “Air Defense is Home Defense”. The poster shows the honor of the role with a picture of a family that is enjoying life with airplanes overhead going out to protect the country. Showing just the good part about the honor to serve in the military is effective
A political cartoon can be a simple way of representing complex issue. Many use comedy, symbolism, and topical affairs to form an illustration that speaks a thousand words. This ad by Jim Borgman is especially powerful, it focuses on the subject of young citizens choosing to go to war instead of pursuing a career. Nearly 100,000 18 years olds alone enlist in the military every year, which is almost three times the student population at Auburn University. Young adults often have no means to afford college or university, and therefore turn to the military in order to avoid student debt. When young veterans finally return home, they will be faced with an unemployment rate of 29 percent; meaning many of them will not find jobs regardless. Students
The poster is replaced by one saying “Fight Cancer”. This poster, perhaps, will survive longer than the previous one. The idea of fighting a cancerous growth fits better with this society, who, as though possessed by a disease, cannot let perfection rest.
Even though I believe the poster “The Navy Needs You” is the better poster out of the six, there might think that the “If I Fail He Dies” is better. The “If I Fail He Dies” poster has many colors and a good message. It is very persuasive in trying to get people to be nurses in the war. The poster has images of what it's is like in the war, as well as what it is like to help “Work For The Red Cross”.
Posters are splashy, large-format images, which are accompanied by a short text. Usually, the purposes of the posters are to agitate, advertise, inform, or teach people. Posters from World War I and World War II often used metaphors, different figures, events, and places. During the First World War propaganda posters were enormously widespread. Artists used them to agitate people to conscription, subscriptions to war loans, and aid to the wounded soldiers. One of the most important posters from World War I and World War II is “I Want You for U.S. Army” by James Mantgomery Flagg. This poster is very influential because of its figure, the message, and the effect on the people.
Ad number two is a modern day United States Army recruiting poster. The text on the Ad is “There is strong. Then theres Army strong.” that appeals to everyone because when they see text like that it challenges you, and it makes you want to see if you have what it takes in order to make the cut. Also the text at the bottom left of the image shows that they are asking “are you Army strong?” directly challenging you, asking the person who is looking at the Ad if they are strong. This Ad challenges you multiple times making it appeal to those who are naturally competitive. The image also shows an African American female solider saluting looking in the distance. When you see an individual that looks different then you do it shows that the Army is very diverse and doesn't care about skin color. The fact that the Army is so diverse makes it appealing because it doesn't care where you came from, or what your background is the Army is here to make you better and add you to the brotherhood/sisterhood. The image shows a female in uniform looking strong appealing to the female crowd, showing that women have what it takes to join the army to serve and fight for their country. The camera angle of this photo is looking up at the solider suggesting that the solider has her head up high as if she is carrying herself with pride. The face the solider is making in this image is very serious
The movie poster depicts a dystopian society through both imagery and diction. As you can see at the very top of the poster reads “Welcome to a world without rules”, immediately you are able to deduce that the story in which is to be told might not be a happy one. Furthermore, going back to imagery you see a building which seems to have been blown up, a dark sky, and a cloaked menacing male
An all too familiar Army Recruiting advertisement is Linked: iSpot.tv which was last aired on December 2, 2013 during an NFL Game Day Final. Advertisement is also available online at YouTube.com. The intended audience for this Army Recruiting advertisement is young brave men who are looking for an opportunity for a great future and who are determined to be a part of a team as well as an important addition to a family. You can clearly see the left side as beige and the right as blue, with "Women's" being in red on the top and "march" and "-on Washington-", half in blue and half in beige on opposing sides which complements each other very well. All of the text is san-serif and capitalized. The words "All are welcome" is repeated twice on both sides of the poster, and at the bottom of the poster is the important information, such as where you can register and donate surrounded by a red box to make it more apparent to viewers. This poster effectively captures the viewer's attention saying, "All are welcome." This event itself was a huge success and it’s a good poster considering that it’s an event where many people opposed due to their political
The poster is a secondary source that is aimed at convincing general population. Slavery is a problem that general population should be concerned about because many Africans were killed in slaving wars or remained enslaved in Africa and bout two-thirds of the people sold to European traders Were men; result in male to female ratio severity unbalance. That will form more female than male. Poster is an excellent way to communicate the message of abolishing slavery to this group because a poster includes a visual design, images, colours and copy. Posters don’t need write too much word should be highlight theme. When used correctly, posters can catch the eyes of people. Then more and more people will see this poster.
The most important concept that this advertisement addresses is power. Susan Bordo, a philosophy professor at the University of Kentucky, writes in her essay “Beauty (Re)discovers the Male Body,” “A man’s presence…is dependent upon the promise of power which he embodies…what he is capable of doing to you or for you.” Power is the ability to influence the behavior of another person or the procession of events. In other words, power allows men to have influence over what they want; in the case of this
In the poster with the family looking on as the men marched off to war it could have been portrayed to guilt the men into going. If the men didn’t want to march off to war it made the women feel that they didn’t care about them. Therefore, they would feel less pride and security. Furthermore, in the other poster they guilted the men by saying at the bottom of the poster, “Be a Man and Do It”. I am sure this made the men feel they had to because if they didn’t they would be considered less of a man. This wasn’t just in the public eyes but in the family’s eyes as well. How could you live with yourself if you knew other men and women were fighting for your freedom while you were
Within this advertisement logos is actually very simple to see and is stated right on the poster. On the poster it is states, “ There’s strong. And then there’s Army Strong. The strength that comes from the character, discipline and job training that the United States Army provided as well as money for college. You’ll earn the type of respect that goes beyond salute.” This is then followed by a website to learn more about the United
