Kendra Cherry’s article “Theories of emotion” says that emotion is a complex state of feeling that results in physical and mental changes in behavior. I have chosen the topic of Emotional Expression and relationships. I chose this because I thought that when we experience an emotion that is said to be complex and causes changes in behavior that it is something that should be monitored or managed. On top of that when we express emotions like happiness or anger we should express them correctly. The behaviors we create as a result of our emotions only mean to create reactions that inhibit the behaviors of the people receiving your emotions, and if those emotions aren’t sent correctly things can spiral down pretty quick. I also chose this topic because I feel that I myself am terrible at this. I feel as though I can’t express myself and that I could blow up one day on the wrong person for the wrong reason. I want to avoid that and try to express my feelings. Where I can feel comfortable being vulnerable with the people I care about. I feel as though I shut people out and sometimes it’s not intentional, I just don’t have the words to say what I want to without completely being mean or offensive. I feel like I owe it to the people I care about to talk to them before I lose it one day and just cut them from my life because of myself. The simple fact is that we need our significant others as well as loved ones, such as parents, siblings and friends. It affects us as individuals

For example, the emotion of fear can increase one 's blood pressure levels and in turn, lead to the secretion of adrenaline. Indeed, our behaviors are vastly determined by our emotions, and the way we respond to any stimuli corresponds with the emotional state of our mind. For instance, if one is fearful, he or she is most likely to stay away or hide from other people and avoid contact. On the other hand, if one is happy, he will tend to have greater conversations with others and seek contact with them. Pragmatically, our moral development is highly influenced by emotions. At age 3, I started melting down at preschool or Sunday school whenever my mom left or if I wasn’t the first kid picked up. Though emotional labour is a rather modern phenomenon it still occurs in the profession of nursing which has been around for centuries. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate how nurses are obligated to perform emotional labour and the impacts involved. This paper focuses on the different methods of emotional labour, including surface acting and deep acting, amongst the effects and outcomes that occur consequently. It will first analyze and explain Arlie Hochschild’s theory of emotional labour. Next it will demonstrate that nurses are constantly performing emotional labour throughout their job, whether through surface acting or deep acting and methods involved. Then, it will demonstrate the effects of nurses performing emotional labour and the outcomes emotional labour produces. Emotional labour amongst its methods are heavily evident in the nursing profession and the performance of such results in various negative consequences. This is due to the difficulties involved in the behaviors of managing emotions in a specific manner.

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical longer term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. While these feelings are normal, some people have difficulty moving on with their lives. Psychologists can help these individuals find constructive ways of managing their emotions. Foster youth go through emotions trauma when they are taking away from their families. The cause of trauma can come before and after entering the foster care system. After the youth, has enter the foster care system, the social worker that is giving to the youth take them to a therapist, so they can be examine to find out what kind of trauma the youth experience. The therapist then set the youth on a plan to help them progress through the trauma. Once the youth placed on the plan, the social worker and therapist than review how the youth is doing with the progress. The goal of the foster system is to connect the youth with their parents or family. Although research gives an abundance of evidence declaring trauma a legitimate ailment which evokes intense symptoms, countless individuals overlook the thousands of foster youth that have been through.

I am learning how to verbally communicate effectively in a healthier manner. Gradually I am understanding how to truly talk to others without feeling it will change the world as I know. Settling for a life of less and bottling everything up inside will eventually escalate to an emotional breakdown. As I continue to go through different life experiences, I need to find healthier alternatives that will help my perpetual emotional suppression.
