When new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, is elected to office, he has a plan to bring down the crime in Gotham. He believes getting tough on the criminals will make Gotham a safer place to live. However, a psychopathic, criminal mastermind arrives into the city and sets out against Harvey. This mastermind also known as The Joker plots many anarchist crimes for his own entertainment against the city. Batman and Harvey decide to team up to try and take down The Joker. Towards the end of the movie, Batman finally catches The Joker, but not after The Joker scars Harvey horrifically with acid to the face. Harvey then turns into a villain and calls himself Two-Face. Sociopaths are callous, with no sense of empathy, often seeing people as targets and opportunities. The Joker kills multiple people throughout the movie, never showing any regret or pain at what he does. Sociopaths also have a lack of remorse, shame, or guilt. The end, to them, always justifies the means, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their outcome. Sociopaths tend to be unreliable, and are compulsive liars. The Joker thrives on being chaotic and trying to turn the world upside down. At several points during the movie, he explains his origin, but each time tells a different story. Sociopaths also tend to see themselves as a product of society and social factors. They are that way because everything and everyone around them shaped them to be that way. The Joker’s origin stories all revolve around an unfortunate situation giving him his “scars” and slowly transforming him into the monster that he is.
