For “Activity Plan 1,” we as a group chose stretching from the non-manipulative category. Stretching is the physiological component in which one extends, to the point of tightness or relaxation, in order to loosen and warm up the body. To use one of our child as an example of someone who has performed the activities most proficiently, I will utilize the name of Bob for a male and Cindy for female to keep their identities anonymous. During the stretching, the one who was performing overall the best was Bob. We warmed up by showing some simple, basic stretches that the children can possibly do. We did the touching toes stretch and he seemed to have a little bit of trouble. Then we performed the activities and he had improving from task to the
I will discuss with the parents that assessing the biological age and training age will reduce the risk of injury because the maturity assessment helps to determine the fitness level of their children. Also, a complete health assessment will determine their weakness and strengths, as well as contraindications to exercise. The resistance training program will be based on the children’s maturity level, training age, physical abilities and specific goals. I will gradually increase the volume, intensity and rate of progression to reduce the risk of injury and overtraining. I will incorporate low- impact exercises, as their bones, ligaments, and tendons are not fully developed. Before each training session, they will start with a warm-up and end
Evaluating the Center For Young Children Day care (CFYC) in UMD, I have to say I am happy that there are a lot of programs to help kids grow up to be healthy. This is the time where children need to explore and and mae discovery in their little adventure.Though the synaptogenesis of the brain have diminished, the production of the Prefrontal cortex is still being developed (L. Levine, J. Munsch Children's Development from infancy to Adolescence, page 261). There are unique activities that help each child develop skill. The CFYC has a card game where they gather children together and do what the card says. One of these card is an “exercise card” in which the adult and children do that exercise. It can consist of squats or jumping jacks. It is
The first new goal that I would like to set is to further improve my flexibility. In high school, I was able to do splits and other feats of flexibility, but, as time has moved on, I’ve lost this ability through lack of practice. In light of this realization, I like to continue to push myself, within reasonable means, of course, to increase
We are all given 24 hours in a day and in an organized system each hour is given a category or name. An Athletic Director has many responsibilities in managing a department that has many activities occurring each day. These activities are physical education classes, practice schedules and locations, meeting special needs students, coordinating game schedules for each sport, and finding time to mentor those within the department. Each area presents its own challenge to synergistically work with the available facilities that are available. Therefore, to be effective in creating a physical education program and athletic department, it is imperative that the athletic
1.1 Explain why physical activity is important to the short and long term health and well being of children.
They also suggest scheduling exercise into your child's day, so it fits right in, and doesn't interfere with homework and other scheduled activities. (See References 5)
My Bachelor’s in Exercise Science has equipped knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology, and exercise testing and prescription for people of different ages and health conditions. During my attendance at the University of Texas at Arlington, I joined the Little Mavs Movement Academy directed by Dr. Priscilla Cacola. I volunteered for a year in this program; while in the program I had the opportunity to learn about developmental coordination disorder (DCD) and how it interferes with activities of daily living and learning of
For example, if the child uses their forearms in a pronated position to carry items, stretching the muscles may reduce the ability to functionally performing tasks. The biomechanical theory is the typical frame of reference used in the treatment sessions. Biomechanical treatment of stretching, positioning, and proper joint alignment can be beneficial for increased joint ROM. The areas of occupational performance that are affected due to limited ROM and hand grasp would include ADL’s of dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, playing, education, and social roles. The performance components that might be affected are restricted ROM, bones and joints that are bent or curved in atypical position. The child’s fingers and thumb may not have active movement, joint stiffness, muscle weakness, and trouble ambulating if the child has club feet. Psychosocially the child may have self-confidence issues and dependency behaviors” (Reed, 2011).
Attempting to understand the motivations behind another individual's actions is often the most difficult task for crime prevention. While there are patterns for behaviour that can help researchers to formulate a binary for the a-typical criminal, it is difficult to pinpoint exact behavior as motivated reasoning differs case to case. This weeks readings attempt to incorporate the use of a Routine Activities perspective towards understanding the typology of mass murderers. While routine activities theory generally focuses on the victim of a crime, the implementation of this theory proves useful due to the consistently missing link in studying mass murderers which is , offender motivation. According to the article, contrary to mass media perceptions the majority of mass murders take place in rural settings. I hypothesize that due to rural populations generally having limited resources for mental health advocacy in comparison to high populated areas, the lack of mental health awareness may
Exercising is vitally important to the health and wellbeing of your children. Incorporating exercises into your child’s life doesn’t always have to be something that you should beat them over the head to do so to speak. With children it is easier to do activities which are fun, entertaining, and that keep them wanting to continue to do daily. Incorporating activities such as dancing, playing kick ball, basket ball, baseball or even soccer are just some activities that children like to play. Incorporating these activities into your child’s daily exercise routine will add a superior structure and foundation for children to continue to do on a regular basis. Doing so will be fun and they will be more likely to do them because they are not boring and it doesn’t seem like it is a task.
Mini University camps began in 1979 as an outreach sports program. Their operations take place in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba. In their first year of operations 990 children aged 4-18 participated in their 17 different sports camps. Since then, Mini U has grown. They are currently in their 37th year of operations, offering a large variety of programs for children aged 4 to 16 years old. In 2015, 6000 children partook in their summer camps. Furthermore, they employ over 150 employees a year. Mini U strives to provide its customers with programs led by innovative leaders that provide high quality programs to the children who partake in them. Mini U’s programs can be divided into 4 different sections. They are as follows, Mini camps, Junior Special Interest camps, Junior sports camps and Senior camps. This report will focus primarily on the process of recruiting and selecting of future employees for the Junior sport camp program. Analysis of the job, and specific requirements that are necessary to do this job effectively will be examined.
Stretching is fairly easy. As mentioned in the introduction, it is involved in the normal activities. It can
I believe that children should participate in organized activities that they show interest in. Imagitive and creative play is important as well but if you pick the right activities your child can learn to be creative and more imagitive by just participating. If a kid wants to be good at something hes going to use whatever skills hes aquired to try his best.Children that dont have the freedom to choose activities based on their interest may not try to do their best because it doesnt really matter to them personally.
Children’s physical exercise is generally done by following the FITT principle. FITT stands for frequency, intensity, time/duration, and type of activity. The exercise should also be adjusted with the children’s motoric and mental development.1
Programs/activities was given its own budget separate from the budget for families. The rationale behind this decision was to make sure the grant money was spent on the older adults and not programming for the families. If the two budgets were merged there is a higher risk of misuse of the funds. By having two separate budgets, documentation would need to be provided to show how purchases or programs were used to serve the elderly population. With the 20% increase, developing specific program and services for the older adults only seemed fair. To determine how much the agency would spend on the older adults we calculated how much was spent on each individual family. We believed the older adults should have the same amount spent on them as each individual family. Since they are older adults, they might have to seek services more often than families. So having the total spent on an older adult the same as a family allows for money to be provided for each individual elder. Also specific program/activities such as, field trips, arts and crafts, and other events would be specifically for seniors. These specific programs would help the seniors feel more comfortable, since they would be able to meet other people around their age. Also older adults can require more individualized attention than a family might.
