If I were unable to go to college I would look for a temporary job to make money. Hopefully, I would have my CNA certification and I would be able to apply to hospitals, nursing homes, or doctors offices where I could apply for a CNA job. I would continue to work as a CNA until I was able to attend college to further my education and job title. While working I would live at home so that they cost is cheaper and I am able to save my money to later go back to school and get a degree in nursing.
Plan 2-
If I were to change my mind about becoming a nurse, I have also considered going to midlands technical college and doing the physical therapy assistant program or going majoring in physical therapy at a four year college and graduating with that
Nursing is a practice in which nurses promote health and the well-being of patients. I believe that nursing is not only a job that prevents and cures illness, but has a deeper meaning and understanding. Becoming a nurse gives the opportunity to maximize and promote patients’ well-being. It is a way to learn and understand new perspectives and expand prior knowledge, to build relationships with patients, community, and other nurses, in addition to learning how to empathize and realize the patient’s needs, and to value and see people as human beings. I think even with the list given is not enough to define or explain a nurse. I believe being a nurse is a diverse and immeasurable experience, and what happens in this field is unknowing and uncertain. My goal in nursing practices is to take in life experiences and use the skills and ideas learned to shape me to become a better nurse and a better person.
After researching the career in nursing more in depth it has enforced the idea that I want to be one. It is a path that would pave the way for my independence and allow me to support myself and my daughter. I would also being doing something that enjoy which is caring for others and making a difference. It will not take me long to finish school as
In life, one will always have to make important choices. One of the most vital decisions one must make in one’s entire life is choosing a career. For some people, choosing a career can be very difficult but for me it was the total opposite. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always felt the need to help everyone around me. My family members would always call on me to take care of them and I always took great pride in it. I always seized the opportunity to take special care of my pets when they were ill. I knew what my calling was even as a little girl and it was to become a doctor. Right now, however I am on the way to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN).
We live in a world where the human race seems to be disconnected. Nowadays it feels that there are not enough people helping each other. I don’t treat life like a competition I look at it and I ask myself how may I help? What may I do to make this world a more suitable place for all to live a comfortable and peaceful life? I yearn to come forward and fulfill my role and contribute to our society in any way possible. Nursing is my calling for helping others. It sounds cliché, this I know, but it’s what I desire and what I decided to do with my body, mind, and soul.
As of 2008, there were about 753,600 Licensed Practical Nurses and 2,618,700 Registered Nurses in the United States (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). In the year 2018, the LPN employment percentage is expected to rise 21% while the RN rate should be approximately 22% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). This may not seem that high, but it is, when one considers that the expected employment rate for a Dentist is only expected to be 16% (U.S Department of Labor, 2010-11). Nursing is a highly respected and sought after career because every person that enters this profession is able to make a difference and is needed by the general population for his/her skills and contributions to the medical field. When a person is contemplating entering
I cannot attribute my desire of becoming a nurse to following the footsteps of a family member, nor caring for a sick family member as I was growing up. I am a first generation high school student, furthermore, a college graduate. I became a mother at the very young age of sixteen. Being so young and growing up without the care of my parents, it was always said I, too, would end up in a rough situation and not be able to care for my child being so young myself. I continued out my days and nights being a high school teen mom. I graduated from high school in three years by attending night school while I was pregnant; allowing me to finish school sooner and obtain a better job that would allow me to take care of my son.
I have an Associate Degree in nursing from Queensborough Community College. I had a Bachelor in Environmental Engineering already and I was looking for the fastest and most inexpensive way to become a nurse when I started the nursing program at Queensborough Community College. When I graduated from the nursing school, I thought that ADN would be enough to be a nurse and I could start working as soon as I got the license. Soon after passing the board, I started realized that it was very hard to find any job as a newly graduated nurse with ADN. I got pieces of advice from professors and decided to go to Molloy College to study Family Nurse Practitioner. After three courses there, even though it would be the fastest way to be an FNP with other Bachelor degree, I realized that I had no experience to share in as a nurse. I sat down and seriously thought about what I like to do.
I am enrolled to be in nursing education next semester. Upon completion of this course, I will become a certified nursing assistant. I have taken or taking the following classes: health science, medical terminology, medical therapeutics, rehab therapy, diagnostic medicine, and nursing education. As you probably can tell I am very interested in the medical field. In college, I hope to major in Pre-medicine or nursing to get me on the path of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
As nurses we all bring our own values and beliefs to the job whether or not we intend to, it happens. I place large amounts of value on family and friends. These are the people you can call on for support. I know that without the support of my mom helping me with my kids and my house work there is no way I could be in the nursing program. Family is often a place when as children we learn and develop our values and beliefs. Giving this deeper thought I can see how this is true for myself. When working with B I would often think about what it would be like to be raised in an unstable environment by a mother who struggles with mental health and addictions. B was often placed in respite foster homes. I found myself thinking about what it would be like to sit down to meal with a strange family how awkward would he have felt. Building on this making connections with people is very important to me. Once I was able to build a connection with B I was able to work with him in a more cohesive way. Making that convection helps to build trust, positive relationships are built on trust. Being a good listener is a skill that I value as a nurse. Not only do I value being a good listener but I also value being heard. I value you a person 's ability to do what they say they are going to do. If you tell a patient that you will return to check in with them in 30 minutes than you need to be sure that you keep your word. When working with clients it is import to me to build on
Ever since I was young, I have wanted to work in the medical field. Being blessed with the heart for healing was a gift, and my family helped nurture that gift. My grandmother would let me “doctor” her cuts and scrapes‒ that came from her life on a farm‒ with a cotton ball of alcohol and a couple dozen band aids. By the time I got to high school, I knew that nursing was the job for me. Going to Evangel gives me the opportunity to become a Registered Nurse. Then, to continue my education even after earning my Bachelors in Nursing, I want to go on to get my masters in nursing. Becoming a Nurse Practitioner is my goal, due to the fact, it s perfect for my true calling, being a mom. I want to be able to spend time with my family, meanwhile being able to maintain a good job.
Having to do things that day to day people think is disgusting. Dealing with blood, giving people shots, sickness, infections. Thinking about it such as to who would ever want to deal with that? Making people feel better can make a difference. The decision to be an RN was taking a trip to urgent care a late afternoon evening. Those RN's and Doctor helped what was hurting and it was similar to walking out a different person. Growing up throughout the years and maturing , being an RN is a dream job. A registered nurse requires an education and many skills to succeed (“Registered Nurses: Occupational Outlook Handbook:: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”).
The career that I am interested in going into is nursing. I am already taking the steps in my educational plan to meet my goal by taking all the science classes that are offered at my high school to prepare myself for my career. Another step that I have taken is that I am currently enrolled in a duel credit health occupations class that will lead to achieving my CNA licenses by the time I graduate high school this spring. After maintaining my licenses, I plan to find work as a certified nursing assistant in a hospital or nursing home to further the practice of my career. I would enjoy to attend Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois to obtain my Associates Degree in Nursing and receive my Registered Nursing license. I then would like to be
After, obtaining my high school diploma from B.B. Comer Memorial High School I will continue my higher education at Childersburg CACC. There I would like to complete my college basics. Next after my basics I would like to attend Auburn University, and enter their BSN program where I would like to secure an Associate's and Bachelor's degree in nursing. Next I would have to acquire my licenses to become a Registered Nurse by passing my NCLEX-RN. While during my nurse training at Auburn I would have to gain work experience by meeting required hours. I hope to acquire a job at least two months after graduating from
There are a few events in my life that have influenced me to become a nurse, but just one that has given me the calling to further my degree. As first an LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse then as an RN or Registered Nurse, I have overcome a seemingly insurmountable obstacle in the path of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Nursing. Less than six weeks after taking the State Board Exam to complete my LPN Certificate, I gave birth to my second daughter Layla. She and I both developed infections as a result of an extended labor process. I went home after three days in the hospital; Layla spent a week in the NICU. During that time my husband and I took turns staying with our baby girl from very early in the morning to very late at night.
On that note, I took a three month nurse assistant program and graduated successfully. After three years of working in the hospital, I enrolled at Concorde Career College for a Licensed vocational nurse program. I graduated successfully, with Student loan and paid it off within two years of practice.
