Many coaches in start of careers have begun as a head coach or as an assistant coach. The assistant coach has a unique position within the program and coaching staff. Assistant coach is hired by a head coach to make sure players, equipment and facilities are well-prepared and organized. However, some assistant coach has direct coaching responsibilities, while others only respond to the head coach 's directive. The assistant job given the opportunities to work up the ladder by allowing the gain of knowledge and experience which are necessary to lead a team. While compare and contrast the chapter of 'The Assistant Coach ' from the book ‘Coaching, A Realistic Perspective’ by Michael and Ralph Sabock to the article ‘Head Coaches’ Perceptions on the Roles, Selection, and Development of the Assistant Coach’ by Scott Roswell, Gordan Bloom, and Todd Loughead, the research shows differently, but more similar in technique and needs of coaching position. M1 - Explain 4 roles and 4 responsibilities of sports coaches, using examples of coaches from different sports
At their finest, coaches perfect their player’s flaws to push them to their potential ability, improve their skills, and create determination within the team. They can expand the importance of such a sport to intensify motivation and the value of good sportsmanship for the sake of not only their reputation, but the outcome that comes from it. Coaches must not lag when it comes to hardships that comes about; they must stay connected. The closer the connection between a player and a coach the better they are moving forward and continuing on the love of the sport and job.
When I think of coaching I think of practice planning, game planning, scouting strategizing of offense and defense, choosing my starters, little things like that. All of those ideas are valid, but that’s not the whole picture. There is a lot more to coaching than planning for a practice or a game. Many times a person who would like to coach an interschool athletic team has little or no preparation to teach sports skills and techniques. The only qualifications is often the person’s participation on his or her high school, college, or university’s team, coach of a community youth team or even perhaps as a professional player. While all that experience is valuable in one way or another, it does not constitute an adequate preparation for
During my coaching session I was able to interview Alec Del Viscio. We talked about areas of his wellness wheel he would like to change. Alec is really concern about his bad habit of spending money consistently in fast food restaurants. Alec Is not concerned in the unhealthy food because he exercises regularly and eats healthy food as well. Nonetheless, what makes Alec want to change the behavior is the tendency of spending a lot of money in fast food when we could be saving for something better. For example, Alec knows that if he save the money he spends in fast food, he and his friends can go out and even take a vacation. However, Alec also has clear that even if he tries to stop the habit, he still has to deal with time management. One of
So many Coaches have talent and dedication for what they do. I 'm proud to play for one that has a spectacular history of coaching. That coach is Dennis Lorio, who Graduated from LSU (Louisiana State University) with an economic degree and played baseball. “I love the intensity and the relationship in football” Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. “It’s not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I’ve been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time.”
To be a men’s head coach then having experience in the sport you are coaching is very helpful. You can understand the student so much more when you have been in their position. You need to help each student, and be there by their side every step of the way. Every team is going to be successful at times. To be a successful team you have to put in the
What is a coach? Webster dictionary says a person who teaches and trains athletes, a person who teaches and trains the members of a sports team and makes decisions about how the team plays games. What makes a good coach? Is it wins? Bobby Knight has 902 wins and many question his coaching tactics. Becker*The all-time leader in NCAA basketball wins is Harry Statam of McKendree, he has 1,088 wins but no national championships. Mike Kryyzewski has 1,018 win and 5 national championships. So what makes one coach better than another? How and what criteria can we use to measure? Can a coach with a losing record still be a good coach? Are all coaching with winning records good coaches?
If a group of students were asked who the biggest influence in their life was, many would say some kind of coach. The general thought that comes to mind when discussing coaching is athletic coaches, but coaching has a much broader spectrum. The major difference between a coach and other leaders is commitment. Coaches help build plans for success for their followers and then follow their progress until the goal is completed.
Coaches are not true to themselves for many reasons. These include the goal of winning at all costs, bowing to pressures from parents and other outsiders, or even attempting to mimic the supposed successful methods of other coaches. While many of these influences can result in positive coaching delivery, they have to be taken into the context of the coach 's true experiences, values, opinions and beliefs. It is imperative to appreciate that the coach has a strong influence over the athletes he or she coaches .
Tell me about yourself and your background. (college you graduated from, where you coached, etc)
A Coach is somebody who develops, improves or promotes changes in a persons ability and understanding. Coaches work with another person or a group of people and develops them as people using sport to progress them in their development. All coaches have certain responsibilities towards performers, their sport, their profession and themselves. Below I have identified what a coach may be required to fulfil.
The assistant coach has to have the ability to be loyal, engaging and a good communicator, stern needed, independent, knowledgeable, discreet, positive and a motivator. Loyalty is a key characteristic because the head coach has to be able to trust the fact that the assistant coach is taking care of items that move the team in a positive direction. The assistant coach has to be engaging because they have to deal with recruitment in many instances. They have to be able to communicate the vision of the team and negotiate bringing in the new players. The characteristic of being stern for force is a characteristic that is found in assistant coaches because they have to deal with many personalities. The assistant coach learns the balance between being able to
The coach tirelessly pursues personal education, formally and informally, both in the performance related sciences and in liberal arts. He sees the journey to coaching excellence as a never ending story; seen not only in terms of a chosen sport and coaching theory and practice, but in understanding how to successfully live a balanced and full life, while facing tougher and tougher challenges in the chosen field of endeavour.
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching. Some questions would include: Why did he choose this as a profession? How did he get into coaching? What does one have to do to get a job as a coach? How
The assistant coach expects the head coach to be knowledgeable of the sport, create plays for the players to run, and establish a rapport with parents, players, and other coaches. The organization’s perception of each of the coaches’ roles is for the coaches to coach soccer effectively, win games, and bring in money (ie. Ticket sales and/or
