Audience is a term that used to describe a large group of consumers who are usually united by their participation in the use of media. Mass media audience can be a person or a group of people who use or are attracted by a certain type of mass media such as newspapers, radio, TV, internet resources, etc. it can conclude both publics of a certain newspaper, radio channel, journal, website or even a single text of media (radio programme, TV programme, etc).
As being part of the mass media system, the audience are sufficiently independent. Most of the times person becomes a reader, a viewer or a listener voluntary if the information is interesting to the consumer, and then he remains as a part of the audience.

Medias influence in early works were focused on media’s effects on human behaviours. In 1930’s the media has powerful effects on people was established, the idea that dictators and fascist treatments towards society were used the media as propaganda toll in Germany and Russia. There was emphasised research to find out what media can do to people, and this brought the first theory of media effects. Frankfurt school suggested that hypodemic needle model were used and they envisioned that media content are injected into audience thoughts and this way it would influence their behaviours. Their studies assumed that there was a causal link between mass media and mass audience, and they suggested that media were using “magic bullet” effect which could result media inspired mass behaviour. Harold Lasswell, wrote about propaganda that was used in World War One in his book “Propaganda Technique in World War”. The mass media has become a big part of our society and its counterparts. In a time span of 50 years this medium has influenced society to an extent where it has created wonders. This immaculate tool can control almost every action we perform, from speaking to the actions that every human being performs in society. As we analysis media in depth we will find many aspects of media which overlap and some of the smallest factors and aspects of media, which create the biggest impact on society.
One of the many leaders that used mass media to expand their campaign was Adolf Hitler, one of the most known leaders during World War II. Moving forward, one of the techniques that Hitler used in Germany was to build cheap stereos/radios so that all citizens could hear his speeches.[7] With regards to this technique, it was found as an effective and easy way to gain people’s attention as well as to persuade them. It was thought that if it is through media, then it must be true; until later that is. Another technique which was used during the war times was propaganda. Propaganda can be represented in various ways through “art, music, theater, films, books, radio, educational materials, and the press.” It is not to say that propaganda was only used for evil-doings.
