When providing a healthy and safe environment both inside and outside the nursery, there are factors myself and other practitioners need to consider; individual children and any specific needs they may have, for example at my work place we a baby with Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes restricted growth, poor core muscle strength, learning difficulties, behavioural problems such as temper tantrums or stubbornness and a permanent feeling of hunger which will start between the age of 2 and 8 years old. The practitioners who work with the baby must always consider
We recognise and support parents as their child’s first and most important educators, and we welcome them into the life of the nursery. This generate confidence and we encourage parents
* Babies and young children are vulnerable and very dependent on their parents and carers. Therefore as well as provide and children’s learning and development it is also essential that we support the physical care, keep them safe and meet their nutritional needs.
It’s comfortable, interesting, attractive and appropriate for the child or children who use it. For some children it becomes like a second home where they eat and sometimes sleep. A suitable environment for a young baby will be very different from a suitable environment for a four or five year old although some features will be the same. Environments should be attractive and make children feel safe and secure and happy to be there and they should also be places where children can confidently play and learn.
There will be numerous policies and procedures within a setting and Staff need to be aware of them. There will be a number of other policies written to safeguard the children, young people, staff, and visitors from danger and to ensure safe practice throughout the setting. The purpose of this policy is to maintain an environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to. Also children know that there are adults in the day care centre who they can approach if they have any issues for example if a child is suffering from neglect at home the staff at the day care centre and other multi agencies will work together to improve the child’s situation, so that he will stop suffering from neglect at home.
This is put into place to protect the children/young people and vulnerable adults from harm or significant harm.
A lot of people have at least once gotten little sleep during the week, and then tried to catch up on their sleep throughout the weekend. Studies show that when one tries to catch up on sleep throughout the weekend, it affects their attentiveness on Monday morning, and their ability to attain a regular sleep pattern, which is overall bad for their health (Telljohann 7). Sleep deprivation may also lead to more dangerous behavior, such as using sleeping pills at night. In a recent poll, 6% of teenagers admitted to using sleeping pills before going to bed after a long day. 5.7% of students said that if they are having trouble falling asleep, they will have a cigarette to calm themselves before bed. Also, 2.9% of adolescents will drink alcohol before going to bed to ensure that they sleep well (Telljohann 1). What if parents found out their teen was engaging in this dangerous behavior? Sleep is a necessity to everyone, and some teens are finding that they can’t always get the amount they need.
It is important to have carefully written policies in place in our settings as this not only conforms to current legislation (Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage), but also makes sure that staff know what to do in any given situation and helps us to provide a safe and healthy environment for all the children in our care.
Safety and Suitability of premises: It is a requirement that there are suitably qualified people on site and that the ratio of staff is appropriate for safety of all children. It is also important to have safeguarding policies updated at all times, staff are encouraged to read all policies and procedures and adhere to them. Lastly, making sure that the locations, environment and equipment are suitable for the children including outdoor and indoor spaces, furniture, equipment and toys, according to age/ stage.
The Oeuf Sparrow Crib has a painted finish and is in a modern style. It comes in a low height to offer parents and caregiver’s ease of accessing baby. This particular crib is made in Europe and follows strict environmental standards. In the tradition of European cribs, the Oeuf Sparrow is constructed of slim side rails to give the crib a light, airy European feel. The mattress has 3 heights to allow the crib to grow with the child. It has a conversion kit that can be purchased to allow the crib to last up to age 5. The crib meets or exceeds all Australian, Canadian, and European as well as U.S. safety standards. It is also eco-friendly with finishes being made using non-toxic and water-based, free of VOC health hazards materials.
For our second child, however, we knew that it was time to get a crib. My wife was earning great money, and we had just bought a house, so it felt right to have our next son sleep on his own. While we did miss the bond that was created by co-sleeping, we knew that it would probably be better to get him to sleep in a crib. That’s when we found the Babyletto Pure Core Crib Mattress. We knew that, for his benefit, we’d not only have to get the best crib but the best mattress so he could sleep comfortably. Here’s why we chose this model over the competition.
As new parents, you want the absolute best for your child. Whether it’s the most comfortable diapers or the most nutritious food, you want to make sure that your baby is taken care of as well as possible so that he or she can grow up to be happy, healthy, and successful in life. One of the most important discussions to have regarding your child, however, is how he or she sleeps. Will you sleep next to your baby in your own bed, or will he or she sleep alone in a crib? This is a question that many new parents struggle with, but if you opt to have your baby sleep on his or her own, then you will need to get a baby mattress.
It is important to make sure that the room the children are playing in is safe and set up to the appropriate age range. As the children start to get more energetic its important to make sure that we keep the room safe but challenging by placing floor activities which should slow them down. By giving the children challenges in the room should help them outside nursery because not everything everywhere
Furniture and equipment should be flexible and open-ended. It should be easy to rearrange the room to respond to children’s needs and interests. Movable platforms, risers, large hollow blocks, movable tables, boxes, large pieces of fabric, clothespins, and other open-ended materials give children opportunities to arrange spaces to suit their needs. They enhance children’s imaginative play; provide opportunities for
