What is marketing?
Marketing is the function that connects businesses to their target audiences’ needs. It is how a business presents and distributes their product to their audience. For example, a business can market their product by advertising it to the public. This can be seen in many forms of media; such as: on television, via web, posters or on billboards.
Marketing is the management procedure in which the product or service is moves from concept to the customer. It includes the co-ordination of the 4 P’s of marketing: product, price, placement and promotion. [tutor2u.net]

Market leadership in Apple
Market leadership is when a business has the most customers/users due to their sales or service.
Steve Jobs suggested these techniques to assist in becoming a market leader
Be in possession of and have control over the relevant technology
Take in and implement better technologies immediately as soon as they have availability, regardless of whether or not there are organisations using them beforehand
Create new technologies/products before anyone else and make it an industry standard
Brand awareness in Apple
Apple raises brand awareness by creating adverts and allowing their stocks to be released online. This can be effective because potential customers will know whether not to purchase a product based on the stocks.
Perceptions of customers in Apple
Customers of Apple are aware of the product by seeing advertisement and by live streaming press conferences that are held by Apple. The effectiveness of live press conferences is that the potential customers will know what features the product has.
Public sector business: National Health Service (NHS)
Their aims are to aid people who are applicable to use their service. They are non-profit and are Governmental, which means that the Government funds the NHS by using a portion tax-payers’ money.

In the beginning we would see celebrities staring in their commercials, using the latest products but now Apple is taking their products and fitting them into average everyday lives. Though the top celebrities are still seen with Apple products such as the iPhone and MacBook Pro; which is always going to be a big marketing perk for the company. Apple is now focusing on creating their products for the average person, they focus on art, photography, video camera, music, etc. The online Apple store gives consumers a chance to compare old products to newer devices. It allows people to learn about their products using videos and magnification to see the new retina displays on their computers “whatever you can imagine, you can bring to life with Apple products. Because when you start with amazing products, you can create amazing things.” (Apple.com). You’re absolutely correct, Apple has truly mastered the art of generating buzz and obtaining free advertising (Kinicki & Williams, 2013). Over the years they’ve masterfully leveraged secrecy and the art of strategically leaking information to drive customer and media anticipation for their products into the stratosphere (Kinicki & Williams, 2013). Even more impressive is Apple’s ability to consistently capitalize on that buzz by producing products that meet the amazingly high expectations of its customers. Apple promotes its products in many different ways, their advertisements on TV or YouTube usually includes epic dramatic music to accompany the slow shots and the different angles of new and upcoming products, hyping the products and the fans. Their website justifies their price with many features and benefits that are exclusive to Apple products. Apple also communicates to its customers with the right language, for example Apple lists all their technical jargon behind the benefits that would make the buyers more inclined, such as advertising a larger screen instead of inclusion of the “A7 Chip with 64-bit architecture” because not many consumers knows what that means.

Apple products are in demand and it makes them attract a wide customer base. The company has over 400 retail store and is still growing in almost 15 different countries. Apple even has an online store which is very affective for some of its customer base. Apple used superior design techniques, correctly priced items, and the hype to sell it products. Apple Inc. has many strengths attributed to its success, one of them being product development, “Apple’s process is complex, expensive and demanding. If you compare it to most business theories – it shouldn’t work. However, to date it has out-performed even the wildest of expectations” (Lashinsky). Apple didn’t create the electronic device market, however they implemented the touchscreen in a new way, by creating a simple device with limited buttons, and bringing a meaning to smartphone. They arguably put blackberry out of business, and influence companies like HTC, Motorola, Microsoft, and Samsung change their previous phone designs. Apple Inc. has also always been very good at advertising, marketing and distribution. They have 470 Apple stores in 17 countries, as well as many trading partners and online stores.
