APS Supervisor Matthew Mitchell made face to face contact with Mr. Charles Hamilton at the Intermediate Care Unit of Walker Baptist Medical Center on 7/17/15 at roughly 10:30 AM. Before visiting with Mr. Hamilton in his room, Mitchell spoke with Ginger Kilgore, RN Case Manager, in her office. She stated that Mr. Hamilton was ready for discharge. She admitted that the hospital was aware Mr. Hamilton’s home in Carbon Hill was currently without electricity and water, but that no alternative placement could be found, nor would Mr. Hamilton agree to discharge anywhere but his residence. Ms. Kilgore also mentioned that Dr. Claude Osula admitted Mr. Hamilton into their care a few days ago due to low potassium levels. He noted in his discharge summary

Jones Regional Medical Center is a huge academic health center with 900 beds and are known for its research and teaching hospitals. Additionally, the IT staff at Jones supports 300 applications and 12,000 workstations. The center uses Technology Med (TechMed) for their admitting system. The system includes registration, inpatient charge, payment entry, master patient index, admission, hospital billing, and more. The TechMed system has been accessible since 1998; Jones is beginning to plan a replacement of this systems because of the fragility of the software (Wager, 2013).

On Saturday, August 22, 2015, at approximately 1220 hours Blue Ridge Parkway Communication Center notified me of a motor vehicle collision with injuries located in Virginia at milepost 180 along the Blue Ridge Parkway. A single motor cycle operator had applied brakes, skidded and laid the motorcycle down in an effort to avoid colliding into a truck. The operator was transported by ambulance to Northern Hospital of Surry County, NC. The operator suffered a broken left humerus, broken left rib, punctured left lung and possible spleen damage. The operator was then transported to the Baptist Trauma Center in Winston Salem, NC.

The Midhudson Regional Hospital has  diversed employees. They are made up of individuals with different culture, gender, socio-economic and race. During the infection control awareness week,I was very  conscious of the diversity. Everyone was welcomed. Some of the participants received very easy question to avoid embarrasment . I was able to met and interact with many employees, patients and visitors with different cultures, genders, race and socioeconomic backgrounds. Jefferson County has been without local access to healthcare for decades. Therefore, the outputs of this transformational box are to increase productivity and hospital revenue by the Respiratory Therapy Department, through improving the process of increasing the number of pulmonary function studies performed at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital. By increasing the number of tests performed, more patients with respiratory illnesses could be diagnosed and treated sooner and more accurately. The increase in testing could also improve patient satisfaction.
