Since Batman first appeared in the DC comic universe in May 1939 he has become one of the most beloved fictional characters. This popularity has led to movies, tv shows, video games and countless forms of memorabilia being produced so fans could get their fair share of the caped crusader. Batman is one of the world’s most popular anti-hero franchises because many of the stories are relatable, the villains are memorable and Bruce Wayne has an intriguing back story.
One reason Batman has gained a large following is because many aspects of the stories are relatable and realistic. Unlike many other superheroes, Batman doesn’t actually have superpowers, he is only successful because of his mixture of smarts, strength, wealth and his perseverance

Batman debatably has the most intriguing group of villains of any superhero franchise. The most well-known and popular villain of any superhero franchise is the Joker, the most commonly believed origin story of the Joker is that he was driven insane after falling into a tank of chemical waste which bleached his skin, made his hair green and turned his lips bright red. The Joker is considered the ultimate adversary for Batman because he is the opposite of Batman in both appearance and personality. His sadistic humor coupled with his psychopathic tendencies have made him a very entertaining supervillain in movies, comic books and even in video games. Catwoman is also one of the more recognizable characters in the Batman franchise. She is an interesting character, shown as a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who was unable to avoid a life of crime because she grew up on the streets. Also it often isn’t clear if she is a villain or a hero due to her shifting allegiances, perhaps her character was designed like this to discourage the pre-existing notion that heroes only did good things and villains always did evil things. Characters like Catwoman are very rare in superhero stories, not only does she have a personal relationship with Batman and had a split personality she is also one of the only female characters to have a major role in superhero stories which adds to the popularity of
The Byronic hero is immortalized as the bridge between epic hero and an anti-hero, in-between with the romantic and tragic hero as well. The main key elements that are present in many Byronic heroes is their sense of darkness and social exile, the struggle for acceptance not only from themselves but also from society, and finally internal traumas that were caused from past events. One of the modern characters that immortalizes the Byronic hero is DC Comics, Batman. From the original comic books, to television adaptations, and finally to the big screen, there is a lot of material that helps fixate him as a truly Byronic hero—all the way from his childhood to his adult and even afterlife years. Without describing all of the aspects, there
Is this modern concept much different than other stories we have grown up watching from an early age? I believe there are many similarities in stories of superheroes and comic many of us grew up reading and watching on Saturday mornings. Batman, a well-known super hero, fought crime in Gotham and was the “Dark Knight” that restored peace in his community. While Batman did not kill the criminals he was chasing after he did bring them to justice!
The air smelled sharply of chemicals, and smoke. You can hear sirens from the GCPD cars. The sound blaring from being so close to them was reading to the point when I heard my being called I missed it.
Laberge explains that Batman has described as the image of the adventure as well as the cartoon that has taken the American world and admired by the kids and adults of all ages. The Batman also established the character of the superhero as well as the person who is a symbol of strength and enthusiasm regarding believing in himself. Separate from most superheroes, Batman has no unique powers, identifying him as a more convenient symbol of American values. The writer clearly states that Batman and Robin represents the 'real' American Dream. Many parodies were made afterward the series become the popular and Batman is
The main factor that tells me that Superman is a better Superhero is that fact that he actually has powers whereas Batman has to rely on money. Superman has many powers such as: Extreme strength, invulnerability, heat and x-ray vision, super breath, and flight. Batman on the other hand, has no powers and without his billionaire status, would
Batman is a depiction of hope. Batman was the answer to a lot of people’s problems in a place where nobody felt safe like they should in their home. He was like the rain after a long, dry spell for
Batman is an anti representative character with some good and bad traits, I will be discussing these points and specifically Batman’s eagerness to “fight crime” no matter what gets in the way, Batman and Bruce Wayne’s impulsive ways, Bruce Wayne and his money, the history of the Batman comic strip and then lastly Batman’s good side. Along with these points I will be explaining how Bruce became Batman.
Bruce Wayne’s journey into becoming Batman follows the path of an archetype hero because has a call to adventure, a mentor, and a final attempt at a big change. Living the years after his parents’ death in anger and guilt, Wayne embarked on a world-wide journey to
Many of us have grown up watching cartoons throughout our childhood. Of the many cartoons on television is Batman. This cartoon has been on television for many years. It is a story of a man who is a successful businessman during the day and a mysterious superhero by night. Bruce Wayne is the man who is this mysterious man with the two identities. He is both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Only a selected few know both of his identities. Many of us have grown up thinking that he is a great man and a great superhero. Yet, why is it that we do not question how unusual the whole situation is? If we take a closer look, we can find that he is a disturbed man who may
Batman originally began as a DC Comics' detective a superhero quite different from the one envisioned by Nolan and company today. Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 for Detective Comics, and for more than two decades it depicted a hero defined by his mystery-solving techniques and cast of quirky characters against whom his braininess and eccentric costume could be balanced (along with his knack for solving crimes). Needless to
Batman is aided by several of his compatriots, like Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman. The supporting character's inclusion is handled well, and a nice bonus is that they are briefly playable. I highly enjoyed the dual-team take-downs which are appropriately intense. However, I wish the supporting characters would affect the main story in a more significant way, and sadly, many of them are relegated to side-quest appearances.
Batman is one of the many fictional superheroes which appears in the “American comic books” that is published by the DC comics. The character is a secret identity for Bruce Wayne, the only heir to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne swore an oath of vengeance when he witnessed the death of his parents;Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne (Diamond, 2015). Bat man combats criminals in Gotham: a fictional city, with assistance from various characters, for example, his butler Alfred and Gordon; Gotham city police commissioner. Unlike many of the superheroes characters, Batman possesses no powers .Bruce Wayne trained himself intellectually and physically .it is from dedication to training he possessed the useful traits of physical prowess, martial arts skills, detective skills and indomitable will to fight for justice. Though his motive is to combat crime and protect people of Gotham city from criminals, the justice system in most of the times views Batman as a villain and vigilante. He can inflict fear to Gotham city criminals thereby bringing calmness to the city. I identify myself with the Batman character through his selfless will for justice, his strong determination to do good
Another work by Crutcher emphasizes that ‘Many Lives of the Batman’ and ‘Batman Unmasked’ are bought in three areas: popular culture studies, popular culture as it relates to marketing and consumerism, and the nature of the comic publishing industry. Most writers have examined the impact of Dark Knight Returns on cultural consciousness, politics, and so on. This antihero construction sparks centuries old dialogues on ethics, the kind of business that comprises the bulk of Batman. “The complexities and graphics in the novel and comic of Batman have been defined as his duality with his villains” (Crutcher 66). Due to popularity and the existence of Batman, people began using the Batman symbol as paraphernalia on personal belongings such as clothing, equipment, and supplies.
If there is one superhero that has had a significant presence in the cinema industry, it would definitely be Batman. With tens of live-action and animated movies, the character is known by everyone who loves the superhero genre, and even those who aren’t as passionate. With so many movies released, it is only natural that some become more obscure than others. This is the case of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, a movie that most perfectly depicts Batman/Bruce Wayne as an eerie superhero with a tragic past and a dark personality. It has recently gotten more attention, with the character’s growing popularity, but was surprisingly overlooked during its release.
Batman is special because as a young boy, Bruce Wayne witnesses his parents’ tragic death. He uses his pain and fear and teaches us to confront our own deepest fears. He chooses to be a hero and not a villain, despite his anger and wish for vengeance.
