Bruce Wayne’s mentor is his butler Alfred Pennyworth. The butler has served the Wayne family for two generations, and after the murder of Batman’s parents, Pennyworth cared for Wayne. Pennyworth frequently asks Wayne, “Why do we fall sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up” (Nolan). Pennyworth’s words of wisdom always remind Wayne that there is always a place for him at home, and that his parents would be proud of him. The trust between the two men is best exemplified when it is revealed that Wayne left his entire fortune and Wayne Enterprises to Pennyworth when he went on his world journey. Upon Wayne returning to Gotham, Pennyworth simply gave it all back. Alfred Pennyworth follows Joseph Campbell’s plan of a hero’s journey because he is committed to helping both Wayne and Batman in any aspect possible. This is important to Wayne because he always has the support of the person he knows
Alluding to Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey helps guide readers along Batman's growth, as well as other characters conveying the overall themes of the comic of Rediscovery, Morality, and the struggle of Living with Dual Identities. Batman’s call to adventure was as soon as he
At the age of seven, Bruce said that his greatest desire was to see his father, who was a soldier in Rhodesia. Since his father was in the army, he was never there for his son; as a consequence Bruce had trouble building relationships with those around him for the majority of his young adulthood. However, he experienced a drastic change in his forties, where he finally got married and had two children. This was the first time in his life that Bruce appeared to be genuinely happy and content. Bruce loved his children dearly and he “Just [wanted] to protect [his] kids from everything that could harm them”. He even sacrificed his dream to be an international cricket player to take care of them. Although he never actually got to build a relationship with his own father, he built a loving and supportive relationship with his own kids. Looking at how much he valued having a close relationship with his father at age seven was very reflective of how much he valued his family at age forty
The air smelled sharply of chemicals, and smoke. You can hear sirens from the GCPD cars. The sound blaring from being so close to them was reading to the point when I heard my being called I missed it.
In a very highly tense and stressful situation, people tend to go as far as they can to avoid the situation at all costs. There are only a handful of people who run towards the problem to solve it in hopes to save someone’s life. These people are risking their own lives to save someone in need of aid, all without any money, fame, or endorsements in the future. In today’s society the concept of heroism can make a huge impact on a person’s or society’s view. Heroes help teach us what is right from wrong and constantly role-modeling the concept of persistency such as the very popular superhero Batman. He is persistently fighting crime in Gotham City, and will not stop until the criminals are put to justice. Even though his actions are more violent
In addition to this, another downfall is the loss of childhood sweetheart, Rachel Dawes by Two-Face. She was the only one outside Bruce Wayne’s inner circle that knew who he truly was, and how he felt about his way and life. As a result of her death, not only does he want revenge on Two-Face, but he tries to compensate for the void that was created by her loss. He does this by starting many failed relationships that turned sour such as those with Poison Ivy and Catwoman, to name a few. These are illustrative of the pessimistic demeanor that Batman has towards the outside because of what he has seen firsthand, and how he reacted to it.
On returning to Gotham, he finds the city ruled by crime and corruption. When he discovers a cave under the mansion, Wayne finds the symbol he is looking for. The thing which will strike fear into his enemies. The Bat. In order to create this image, Wayne visits his father's friend, Lucius Fox , who works at Wayne Originalities developing all the gadgets Batman will use.
This may be due to the fact that he is trying to avenge his parents' death. During one of the episodes, there was a device that could show the deepest secret of a person and Bruce Wayne used this device. From this it was revealed that a major reason for him becoming Batman was because of the incident. Throughout many of the episodes, this theme appears many times.
Undoubtedly, the most essential aspect of both a hero and villain’s life is his or her origin story. Batman’s was tragic, so he chose to serve the greater good- even if it means demolishing Gotham’s infrastructure with every good deed. The Joker’s origin story is also perversely tragic, yet he chose to be a villain and aids Batman in said destruction of Gotham, yet in a maniacal and destructive manner. The better choice is obviously to serve the greater good using your life experience to drive one towards a goal; the choice to be the hero would best suit my personal legend. My origin story has uniquely shaped my decision to pursue medicine as both a career and deep passion. As a young and tirelessly curious girl, I chose my fathers old microbiology
While Batman was still Bruce Wayne, his parents were killed by a soon to be supervillain, this caused him to have an alternative motive to become a “hero.” For example Captain America fight crime and serves the city for the people not for his own benefit. Batman might seem like he is doing what hero is supposed to do, but he is merely trying to avenge his parents death. “ Police are perplexed, worried the group will turn into vigilantes and doubt that the superhero policy is ever stopped any crime,” (source A). This is the same with Batman; the police do not know what to make of him but are worried that he will get himself in trouble. Batman might seem like he is doing things for others, yet he does them for himself.
Has become docile, a zombie, and accepts to aid in the fall of Gotham. The murder of Martha and Thomas Wayne in the catalyst of creating Batman. However, there is a list of traumas behind him as well. Alfred kills off the Shaman responsible for brainwashing Bruce, an action which will impact both Alfred and Bruce.
Another way in which Batman displays himself as a Byronic hero is his function as a subversive character which refuses to submit to demonic forces. He tries to appear to be a man who is morally upright. However, Batman is unable to separate himself from the pain of his parents ' untimely death, which gives him a new identity as a mysterious masked crime fighter. In most books and films, he tries to put this tragic incident behind him without much success. As Peter J. Tomasi indicates, “instead we see a presentation of Batman’s powers by exacting strange acts in the name of justice like teleporting hotheaded” (1).
Batman Batman, a tragic hero with noble birth and qualities that is fated to suffer and struggle with his failures character flaws. Born into a household of high expectation by the parents Martha and Dr.Thomas Wayne. Bruce's father is a surgeon and philanthropist who inherited the family's fortune from real estate and industry. The Waynes have high class in Gotham while having privileges not a lot of people have in Gotham. With the Waynes having a lot of wealth, many opportunities came to Bruce when dealing with education.
His wealthy parents become the victim of a mugging by a street thug that results in the murder which Bruce witnesses, and as a result, he is tormented by an enormous sense of guilt and responsibility for their deaths. Byronic heroic nature can be seen in this incident. This guilt is obviously implausible because of Bruce 's young age and inability to intercede as well as the random violence of the act itself. It is this horror that occurs in his life while he is young that hampers him from developing the relationship with his people in the society. Gothic Literature has influenced Batman as a Byronic hero during contemporary times. He is revered as an iconic role model for the male gender, an extraordinary symbol of the American dream, and a beacon of hope for the horrific events in a terrorist society.
Throughout the movie, Bruce Wayne continues to distance himself from society as Batman. While attending the hotel party Rachel confronts Bruce about doing more for the city. He tells her he is now a better person but doesn’t allow her to know he is Batman. Even the closest to him he chooses not to let know what he is doing for the city. Next when in the warehouse with Jim Gordon they team up together to stop Gotham from being cut off completely.
Batman is one of the many fictional superheroes which appears in the “American comic books” that is published by the DC comics. The character is a secret identity for Bruce Wayne, the only heir to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne swore an oath of vengeance when he witnessed the death of his parents;Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne (Diamond, 2015). Bat man combats criminals in Gotham: a fictional city, with assistance from various characters, for example, his butler Alfred and Gordon; Gotham city police commissioner. Unlike many of the superheroes characters, Batman possesses no powers .Bruce Wayne trained himself intellectually and physically .it is from dedication to training he possessed the useful traits of physical prowess, martial arts skills, detective skills and indomitable will to fight for justice. Though his motive is to combat crime and protect people of Gotham city from criminals, the justice system in most of the times views Batman as a villain and vigilante. He can inflict fear to Gotham city criminals thereby bringing calmness to the city. I identify myself with the Batman character through his selfless will for justice, his strong determination to do good
