Texas Senator
If I were to become a senator of Texas I would have to be at least thirty years of age, have been a citizen for nine years, and live within the state of Texas. Since the Senate consists of a hundred members, two per state, I would be one of two people to be elected for Texas State Senator.I would be active six terms and would make $174,00 a year. A Congressional Session usually last most of the year. The Senate met 136 days through the course of ten months according to Congress.gov.
As a Senator of Texas I would like more strict gun laws. I know that this issue has been brought up over the past few years and that it didn’t do so well with texans, but I do believe that a better gun control plan would benefit the state. Statistics state that the United States has over three hundred million civilian firearms in circulation and twenty times the homicide rate than all other western nations combined. And recent practices conducted in other countries have proven that the restriction of guns has had a dramatic impact on the death rate. For example, Japan passed a law in 1958 prohibiting the possession of firearms. Since then Japan has become the country with the second-lowest death rate in the world. Similarly, after passing strict gun laws in the 1990’s, Australia and the United Kingdom have noticed a drastic decrease in gun-related deaths. Don’t get me wrong I like the sense of security from knowing that everyone in

Many articles state that gun control can be discussed in either the House of Representatives or the Senate. Since I’m a Senator I’ll be providing information over the Judiciary Committee within the Senate. The Senate Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over federal criminal laws, human rights, immigration laws, intellectual property laws, antitrust laws, and internet privacy laws. The gun control policy that was proposed by President Barack Obama was considered under this
Gun Control should not be enacted, Gun Control Laws have been proven ineffective in other countries, The Second Amendment allows American Citizens the right to keep and bear arms, and Gun Control laws take power from American Citizens, granted to them in the Constitution. Guns are a major problem in our society and the numbers of these gun-related murders are continuing to rise. On top of the murders you also have people losing their lives through misfire and gun-related suicides. The total death toll of all gun-related deaths averages over 30,000 per year in the U.S. (http://blogs.kqed.org/lowdown/2013/03/07/u-s-gun-deaths-visualizing-the-numbers/). I believe that enforcing stricter gun laws will contribute to getting these numbers lower. The numbers do not lie, we as a society have a problem with gun-violence and we need to do something to fix it.
Did you know you are 4 times more likely to be killed with a knife or other cutting instrument than you are by a rifle or a shotgun? Gun rights and gun control are always hot items during any political discussion, whether it is between peers or politicians. One of the many great advantages to being an American is the ability to choose for one's own self what to believe in. Another advantage, in my opinion, is the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Laws should not restrict gun rights because first, it would infringe the second amendment, second, guns are a part of our culture, and finally, if guns were outlawed, citizens of the U.S. would become vulnerable.
1 They have different platform of political parties as Democratic party and Republic party. 2 Texas Senate is the upper house of Texas state legislature whereas Texas house is the lower house of Texas state legislature. Texas State consists of 31 members and 150 members in Texas house of representatives. I am currently living in Irving, in which the district is 16 as senate districts where Don Huffines is the current senator of the district which is a part of Dallas county. 3 He is from Republican party. 1 So, I would prefer to run as Texas state senate. 4 In
Throughout the history of the United States of America there has been debate on gun control. The debate has become even more relevant as more semi-automatic assault rifles are being sold and the amount of shootings we have been having, especially in this last month. There are a variety of views one can take on this argument. Many conservatives have been saying that more gun control is not necessary as it’s not the guns killing the people, it’s the people pulling the trigger that are killing innocent lives. On the other hand, people who are more liberal would like to see legislation passed that would put control on the sale of firearms as keeping weapons out of the hands of dangerous people who will willingly pull the
They also need to be registered to vote in the district they are running in. It’s mandatory to be thirty-five years of age and been practicing law or been a judge for ten years. The period for the term is six years. The United States only has one court, the supreme court. Congress is able to form and decide on the structure of the courts. Congress can also set the amount of justices there are. The Supreme Court judges have no restrictions on terms and do not need to meet any requirements. The justices leave their duty of the court to either retire, are impeached, or pass away (“Judicial Branch Facts”). The judges are selected by the President to serve and then authorized by the Senate. The Supreme Court of the United States has jurisdiction over the Texas court.
In today's society there is the question ‘Should there be more gun laws?’. The advancements in military weaponry is nothing short of astounding. With these advancements though, come the ramifications of their inventions. More and more, the nation is seeing these weapons in actions. People are fearful and demand more laws, but that is not the answer to this dilemma. More gun laws would not resolve this problem for numerous reasons; more gun laws would lead to more violence, the United States alwardy have an excessive amount on gun laws, and the nation looks at the object not the person. The United States have to address these issues before a change will happen.
In contrast, the Texas State Senate has its focus on the Upper House of the Texas State Legislature. The Senate consists of 31 members, who represent single-member districts settled in Texas. The latest studies confirm that each individual district has an average of 806.000 civilians. Each term a member serves last for four years. Similarly, to the House, the senate has no term limits. The person who leads the Senate is the Lieutenant Governor of Texas. The Lieutenant Governor is considered to many to be more influential. In 2013, the 83rd Legislative Session occurred and six new senators were added to the

To first start, I must say that in the last fifteen weeks of class I did learn a lot about Texas government and how does the state manage the power between the politician and the people that elect them and also how must of the laws and major decisions are taken and how everyone in the state take a big part at the time of making a change, make proposed change a law or apply for a new law.
Everyone dreams to run their own office and be their own boss. But it’s never that easy than we think. Texas is one of the biggest state of united states. So, it’s not in everyone hands to take care all those duties and responsibility that they are made for, especially in Texas which has very larger in area and densely populated. One should be physically and mentally prepared and able to give up their personal wills and desires to handle the office. All you need to do is you should be able to make a right decision, you should be creative, you should plan everything ahead of time and use your best knowledge to run the office very smoothly. So, I think we
In order to become a member of the Texas state legislature, there are certain demands that must be met. A senator, for example, must be twenty-six or older, a U.S. citizen,
When I grew up and throughout my life I didn’t need to worry about this issue. Only in the last 15 years or so has the issue of gun control come about in this country. The 2nd Amendment protects our right to bear arms, “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms”.(Volkomer, 2012. Pg. 54). Another reason why I do not want to see gun control implemented is crime will rise, as the only ones that will have guns are the criminals and the government. The honest, upstanding citizens will have no way to protect themselves, and the criminals will take advantage of that fact.
Gun control is probably one of the most debatable concerns in the constitution. There are many scenarios in which you can see the good in pro-gun control and also other scenarios where con-gun control is good. Gun control should not be a plan the U.S government should take because there are many cases in which a firearm will determine you from death or life. And the right to carry a firearm is like the right to protect our freedom, and to self defend ourselves. Firearms are used defensively roughly 2.5 million times per year, more than four times as many as criminal uses. This amounts to 2,575 lives protected for every life lost to a gun. (SAF) The people that are most concerned by this issue are those that have lost someone close to them
