Over the course of the last 5 months I have experienced many challenges that have presented to me in a wide variety of ways, some of which presented themselves based on my acts of poor judgment, and others I enacted on my own behalf. Throughout this period of time I have set many goals both academic and personal based on my challenges which have allowed me to stay focused and driven to be successful. Having an opportunity for personal reflection I have learned many things about myself and how I function, learn, and perform which as allowed me to grow mentally, personally, and spiritually. I now know and have gained a better understanding for how I think and feel, and how the decisions that I make on a daily basis shape my future. It is important for me to pay attention to how my actions have affected myself and those around me in that past and consider it as I move through life in the future.

I am a kinetic learner. I have to have something to do even if it's just tapping my foot. I can not sit still unless I'm reading or doing something else. I will always be moving in some way or another. I don't really like most sports like football or baseball. But I do like basketball and street hockey. I always want to do something. And my patience is very low.

Thinking back to the beginning of the semester to now, I can definitely see how things have changed. I had a list of many of strengths and weaknesses at the beginning of this class. I feel as if I have gotten out of my comfort zone and I have grown throughout this semester as a person, and more importantly a leader. I have learned many lessons that I can take and apply to my everyday life and my future ahead.

This article explained many reasons as to why and ways in which co-workers can be difficult to get along with. The article gives the idea that often times difficult individuals are unconscious about being difficult. This being that these same individuals can be triggered by past experiences/traumas, and use self-protective defense in order to protect themselves from emotional hurt reoccurring within their lives. During the past ten weeks, I have strengthened my concept of what constitutes effective leadership. Importantly, it is a leadership style that maximises the contributions of followers to achieve the desired outcomes for the organisation they represent. As Nanjundeswaraswamy & Swamy (2014, p.57) explains, effective leaders need to balance the drive to achieve a task with managing relationships. Therefore, it is essential for good leadership to not only focus on the task but develop, motivate and empower team members to strive for the achievement of task goals.

I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on any test I take.

Concurrently, the perception, attitudes and values of colleagues in the workplace play a role in determining the individual’s effectiveness.
