Being thankful is not hard to do but I neglect to acknowledge what I am blessed with. There are numerous benefits by being thankful. In a 2012 study by the University of Kentucky, it states that being grateful will improve empathy and will cut down aggression. Also, a 2014 study published in Emotion, it proves that you can win friends by simply saying “thank you.” During summer of 2013, my family and I took a trip/vacation to Vietnam. On this trip, I mourned my grandpa’s death, reunited with my family after several years, and took a tour in multiple cities. During my visit, I went on a motorcycle ride with my mom to a relative’s house. We arrived there and discovered that they had a steep dirt driveway. It sustained a positive perspective in my everyday life. So now I don’t take anything for granted and to always be thankful for everything. I believe that recognizing what you have and appreciating it will cause you to have a more structured and positive mindset. Being thankful will not only give you a great attitude but it also benefits your health, personality, and emotions. Since the day that I have learned to appreciate things and look at everything in a positive manner, I have been happier, developed more friendships, and have been more productive. Although this is how I feel, most people today focus on the things they don’t have and the things they want. Psychologist say that "being conscious of who and what you are grateful for has real benefits". There are numerous things that I can possibly think of that I am grateful for, starting from the less minimum to the greatest of them all. Many people have the definition of grateful messed up, they are only grateful when things are good or when receiving material compensations. It is very important to be thankful for what you have because many people have no one by their side to love or care for them. As humans, we have a tendency to pinpoint and pick out the things that aren't "right." We complain and moan and find ourselves miserable. We may even consider ourselves victims of life. The thing is, though, is that each difficulty we find ourselves dealing with does in fact hold a gem of wisdom, and can, if we so choose, become an opportunity to practice gratitude.

We 've all heard that saying, “count your blessings!" It was kinda annoying, especially when you were in the middle of some good ole complaining.
