Mark Brom Ms. Karubas English III Accel 22 December 2017 Phones Nowadays, everyone and their mother has a phone, even those who cannot afford them get them solely because they have become a social norm. However, in terms of school, phones have become both the biggest help, and the biggest nuisance, to teachers everywhere. The real question is, are they more of a help or a hindrance to teachers and schools. Phones help in terms of using things like kahoot and the internet to help with questions that the teacher cannot answer, or while she is busy, but can also hurt the progression and the learning that the children should be receiving. In terms of the beneficial side of having phones, the potential is unlimited. Many people throughout schools have been enjoying the use of phones and their numerous benefits, which include, but are not limited to: music, kahoot, and research. In my personal opinion, music has helped me most through school, I have never gone through a day of high school without listening to music, it keeps me going through the very mundane repetitive school days. Also, kahoot has proved very useful in terms on learning in classes such as French, AP European History, and so many more. I have also used it for research many times, using Google Translate again for French, research for previous English classes and much more. Permitting cell phone use would ultimately encourage personal responsibility, something students of today’s generation severely lack.
Kids would be better off if phones were allowed in schools. Phones provide students with a learning tool and allows them to earn teachers trust. Also, when kids have their phones they are happy, and happy kids are smarter kids. Cell phones can be used for a lot more than talking. Cell phones can be used in the classroom to help students with their assignments. Teens can use the calendars to record due dates for homework and tests. As teens we have grown to rely on our cell phones for all of our communication. Plus, students need cell phones in case of an emergency.
With the statements given by my evidence, it is true that phones are useful and well used tools when students and teachers have the proper websites and apps to go to for specific things. This is good because the technology is so easy to use and is good at keeping track of things you need to do or have already done such as tests and/or quizzes.
Some can argue that cell phone use during school is highly uncivilized but it's extremely useful in many different ways and in different scenarios.Instead of viewing cellphones and other gadgets as negative additive distractions , we should view the positive side of celluar devices. Cell phones can help resolve issues and help make the school environment much easier, however do believe there should be restrictions , for instance not to use a phone while the teacher is having a discussion or teaching lesson. If a student can obey these rules and not use it in a disrespectful manner , then there should not be any issues. Cellular phones should be allowed in schools for threatening emergencies, to avoid double standards between teachers and students and most of all to help students with research purposes.
Imagine a school in which cell phones were not allowed on campus. How would the children contact their parents in the case of an emergency? Perhaps more importantly, how would this affect a child's ability to learn, and their access to knowledge? In an ever changing world most schools have adapted to use technology to their advantage. Whether this be strict times when cell phones are allowed, or more generalized rules, the schools today are able to shape these new devices in their favor. This movement, however, is looked at by some to be a terrible decision, and a hazard to children's growth in the school environment. This essay will go over the three main reasons why cell phones should be allowed and encouraged inside of the school building. The first reason why schools should allow cell phones is because parents need easy contact with their children in all situations. The second reason to allow cell phones is because they improve the learning environment and provide a digital knowledge database. The final reason to allow phones in a school setting is because they can give schools financial and educational freedom opportunities that were never possible before. Cell phones are amazing tools, and schools have all the power in the world to utilize them to their full potential.
The distraction caused by cell phones are different in every classroom, it is the teacher 's job to regulate the cell phone usage to maximize the amount of learning that takes place. This article relates to the opposing side of the argument. The article provides a real-life example and informs the reader in a different method about how cell phones do not belong in schools.
Phones shouldn’t be used in the classroom. They are bad because they are a distraction to the students. They are a distraction because the kids won't pay attention . The kids won't pay listen because they are too busy on their phone. This means teachers have to try way too hard to get their
Although phones help with the learning process they are used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don’t, the ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a chance to be more independent(Doc #3). On the other hand they are used as a status symbol. Jesse Scaccia says, “when their phones ring while the teacher is talking everyone laughs”(Doc
Regina Jones's “Cell phones in the classroom” is an informational article that explains both sides of the issue of cell phones in the classroom. The idea of cell phones in the classroom has been debated for a long time. Jones discusses that the idea of cell phones in the classroom seems like a beneficial idea, but it has many consequences. Jones does not side with a specific opinion, but rather shows how to properly incorporate the idea given its cons. With the correct procedure, cell phones could be a valuable teaching aid to help kids learn in a contemporary way.
The school should allow the use of cell phones. The use of cell phones can help the student with their assignments and research. When students are allowed to use their phones they will have better grades. Allowing the use of cell phones to help the students’ with their work and assignments.
First of all, teachers can use it as a tool for teaching. Teacher allowing students to use their phones as a learning device could greatly improve the rate at which they learn. And teachers are starting to realize them as a resource. In an article written by John Giambalvo it states “One way I would immediately use phones as part of instruction would be to automate exit tickets” , this teacher is using the cell phones as a resource in teaching and surely many across the nation are also. Students can also use them as a tool for organization. As students are becoming more comfortable with technology they might
Having phones as technology in school could help or hinder students education. Some of the reasons phones should be used during class is because it helps with them study, while people say why phones shouldn’t be used is because they may or may not educate them and students spend their being on phones instead of working. Think about the amount of time you send and receive those 200 texts a day and think about the time you can be studying rather than
Cell phones are a powerful tool in today's world, they should be implemented in the education system to help learning, because that's the matter of fact! Cell phones help learning, not hinder it. At least not when the
Cell phones in class, if used the right way will help teach the class. Cell phones are more modern and it's a good way for the students to interact with the class. There are a lot of different apps that will help you in school, there is even an app for you to check your grades on. The apps can help you in your class if your teacher involves them. Everyone has a cell phone so let's use it to help us in school.
Picture yourself at a new school. You don’t know your way around well and you have a very hard time finding your way around the school. Time after time you show up late to class. If students were allowed to have their phones in school you could have your phone to remind you, and maybe even access to a map, helping you get to class on time. Students should be allowed to have phones in school. Students could use them in case of an emergency, having phones teaches them responsibility, and they can even use them as learning tools.
Technology is changing every day, and we are seeing this innovation in more places than ever, especially in classrooms. More specifically, since the release of the first Apple iPad in March 2010 we have seen an overwhelming amount of possibilities that were merely just ideas become available in our classroom. Take for instance wanting to have a class trip to the Guggenheim. Now, this is possible with virtual field trips. The Guggenheim offers a free app that lets individuals explore works of art with a virtual tour and an audio tour. There are several other museums that offer this same feature, such as Musée Du Louvre, The Canadian Museum of Civilization, and the American Museum of Natural History. Say you want to bake a cake with the children in your classroom, but you have a child with allergies. Now, this is possible with a cake baking app called Cake Maker-Cooking Games, and there are number of similar apps that allow the baking of all things imaginable via a tablet. With the invention of iPads, and like tablets came the surge in production of applications or apps. Apps have an interactive nature that allows users to play out real life scenarios, or scenarios that are far from reality. Some may recall the 2009 commercial for the iPhone with the ever popular saying, “There’s an App for that.” Never would we have thought four years later, there really could be an app for almost any and everything imaginable.
