Cell phones are amazing things that allow us to so many great things, but are causing us to loose sight to what really matters? Cell phones should not be allowed to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make us lose touch with reality. Although phones help with the learning process they are used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don’t, the ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a chance to be more independent(Doc #3). On the other hand they are used as a status symbol. Jesse Scaccia says, “when their phones ring while the teacher is talking everyone laughs”(Doc

Cell phones are distracting in school and disrupt learning. Students should always be giving their teacher their undivided attention. Cell phones in school create problems and they affect students’ grades. Although some may claim these reasons to be true, they are undeniably wrong. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school argue, “We know for a fact that the use of cell phones on school property around the country has led to a number of problems around safety.” This is wrong because cell phone use on school grounds is only beneficial to individuals on and off school property. Cell phones do not necessarily prevent problems, but they do help in times of emergencies. They promote safety in situations such as school shootings or hostage situations. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school also argue “Student’s whose minds wander during a lecture or discussion may find the temptation of texting instead of listening hard to resist.” While this is true, it is up to the student to pay attention. However, texting instead of listening is the same as doodling and not listening, or playing on a school issued laptop even after being told to put it away. It is up to the student to restrain from texting in class. The more schools put an emphasis on no phones in school the more
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
We should not get rid of phones. Ballaro and Beverly claim that ”policy changes, driven by safety concerns of both parents and teens, fueled a national debate over whether the safety benefits of cell phones outweighed their potential to create a nuisance that interferes with learning.” Also, they believe “after the 1999 shootings at columbine high school and the september terrorist attacks, however, many schools eased restrictions on cell phones use in middle and high schools.” Supporters point out that vast numbers of parents and children depend on cell phones to communicate their daily life whereabouts and activities.” We should not get rid of cellphones there are many uses for phones. One thing students want is to be able to get on there phones in school. They know having phones in school would help them out a lot. One half of many states let their students in the school district use phones in their classes. That is why they know it is right for them to be able to get on there phones in school and classes to. Cell phones are very helpful. There are people who think they are a distraction, but they are actually helpful, useful, and needed by students.
Many teachers and adults don’t think cellphones should not be allowed in school because of the distraction they cause. Although people believe students shouldn’t be able to use their phones in classrooms, cell phones should be allowed because music helps students concentrate when working, also they could be used for research purposes, and lastly students could use their phones to communicate with parents, and others.
Many teachers believe that cell phones don’t belong in a classroom because there are several disadvantages. An example maybe a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intension in listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span who cares about socializing more than his/her education. Cell phones can be very disruptive; they can invade people’s privacy and can also be used as harassment or bullying. The usage of cell phones is creating a huge problem particularly when they are used in school.
More and more kids are getting cell-phones every year, and because cell-phones are gaining more educational abilities, some people are suggesting that phones be allowed for more use in school. Although cell-phones can be an useful learning tool, they should not be allowed in schools because many kids would abuse the privilege, there are many other technologies available for use, and phones are also not available to every person.
Cell phones teach us responsibility because we have to keep track of our devices. Students can benefit from having these and using them in the school day. They are great learning tools for use to use that are quick and easy If one of us is going off task like going onto social media their device should be Confiscated. Like before a test student should be required to put their phones into airplane mode.
Cell phones in class, if used the right way will help teach the class. Cell phones are more modern and it's a good way for the students to interact with the class. There are a lot of different apps that will help you in school, there is even an app for you to check your grades on. The apps can help you in your class if your teacher involves them. Everyone has a cell phone so let's use it to help us in school.
Did you know that insomnia, confusion, and headaches are produced by the radiation off of your cell phone. I feel like cell phones should not be aloud in school. If students brought their phones to school they would be on themwhen a teacher is teaching, not paying attention to the lesson therefore inception to fail that class. Researchers have found out that if students did not bring their phones to school their grades would begin increasing, moreover their test scores would improve by an average of 6%.The reason I understand why phones should be outlawed from school is they can become a distraction in school, students would desire to cheat, then students would be able to cyberbully during school hours.
Nowadays, everyone and their mother has a phone, even those who cannot afford them get them solely because they have become a social norm. However, in terms of school, phones have become both the biggest help, and the biggest nuisance, to teachers everywhere. The real question is, are they more of a help or a hindrance to teachers and schools. Phones help in terms of using things like kahoot and the internet to help with questions that the teacher cannot answer, or while she is busy, but can also hurt the progression and the learning that the children should be receiving.
School is a place where students go to gain an education, but school it is also a place where relationships are built and where people go to converse. With so many different ways of communicating to one another, it is easy to just take out a cell phone and to use it as a tool for just about anything, but the use of cell phones at school can lead problems for not only the student but for those around him or her. The use of cell phones during school hours can cause distractions to the student and even the class, with these distractions cell phones can also create bad learning habits that would not of been there if cell phones were not in use, lastly while in school, students are provided with necessary materials which makes the use of cell phones almost redundant. With all those problems cell phones cause, schools should have the right to ban cell phones during the school day.
Cell phones. Mobile devices that allow millions across the world to communicate and reach out. They can be used for business, to call your great-grandma Ethel, or for some people, more sinister and malicious reasons. Almost all of the American teenage population own a smartphone or some sort of cellular or mobile device, but what is their place in the classroom? I believe that they have no place in schools. I think that they are a huge distraction to students, lead to bullying and gossip, and are a very viable way for students to cheat on assignments
