Sweet Dreams is absolutely amazing. A new series!!! Nina Lane delivers a tale of a CEO for a candy factory and a struggling owner of a bakery called Wild Child; who wants more in life than what she's been handed due to her deceased mother. The author's characters are very intriguing; not once did I skip any pages. Yes, it'll pull you in and will leave you wanting more. Readers won’t be able to stop reading until the very last page. It’s just as special as the Spiral of Bliss series, so far.
Polly gave up college after finding out that her mother was fighting a deadly decease and her sister Hanna didn't want anything to do with it. Polly feels that in order to make her mother happy, she needs to continue with the business. As for Luke, he's a CEO, who is a workaholic. Who can't offer more than a notch on his bedpost, no long-lasting relationships for him; it's always been that way and he isn't planning on changing it anytime soon. Or so he said. He meets Polly at a dive bar called Troll's House, where she gets intoxicated, spewing words that are so out of her character, such as, "I really want to have sex with a man who knows what to

After they both agree to their plan, they end up spending so much time together that, Luke's plan comes to a halt. Catching him off guard and not a clue how to go about it. With Polly to the rescue, she shows him how it feels like to do something, outside of work. To just be able to have fun without worrying about Sugar Rush. Together they experience something they didn't plan to happen.
Sugar Rush is the perfect start to the new series. I love Nina and his characters. She knows just how to lure her readers into another world full of emotions and steamy scenes, that is not to be missed. I am looking forward to reading about Hannah, Polly's sister and Evan, Luke's brother. LOVE IT
After putting off reading this book for over a year, I decided it was time (plus it was just sitting there on my shelf, waiting to be read so I HAD to.) Bold Tricks just wasn’t as good as its predecessors. I am not one for angsty novels but if there is anyone who can make me enjoy one, it’s Karina Halle. She knows how to make angsty situations come off as realistic rather than annoying and bothersome. It’s what sold this series to me in the first place.
Have you ever had a dream that you have been really committed to? Has something or someone ever stopped you short of that or any dream of yours? These questions are quite relevant to the main characters in the selections Of Mice and Men and “Only Daughter”. Of Mice and Men is a well-known story by John Steinbeck that tells the tale of two travel companions, George Milton and Lennie Small, as they dream and work hard to gain a small piece of land for themselves during The Great Depression, a harsh financial time. “Only Daughter” is an autobiographical essay by Sandra Cisneros about her struggles on trying to bond with her father while being impeded by her six brothers. The two selections’ main dreams are both corresponding and distinct in various ways. The dreams are also very substantial to the one who holds it. George and Lennie’s dream, in Of Mice and Men, influenced their lifestyle, behavior, and relationship between them. Sandra Cisneros’s dream, from “Only Daughter”, had an impact on the topic of her writing, her writing style, and her relationship with her father, who she has been trying to gain the approval for her writing career for many years.
Storytelling has been used for all of human existence to pass down ideas and morals. Writing was just the next step in allowing additional individuals to have access to the multitude of new stories being created. When different people read the same story, they are able to glean different things from it. This is due to the fact that people read the stories on different levels and with differing viewpoints. Upon the first reading of “Dream Children”, by Gail Godwin, a reader may view the story as a timeless, boring love story. However, if a reader dives into the story from a feministic approach, one sees a deeper plot where Mrs. McNair is imprisoned by societal norms and longs for an understanding of her feelings and desires.
The Language of Dreams by Belle Yang features the role of memory, language and story-telling in human lives, especially those displayed and complicated by the movement and the blending of culture (pp 697) whereas, Death of Josseline by Margaret Regan encourages a reconsideration of how the immigration issue is discussed in the media (pp704). Both the article describes about change in one’s life because of immigration.
Most people from an early age have a dream; yet often people give up on them and most of the time around middle school or late elementary school. It is the prime time where everyone gets discouraged by bullying and the realization that life is tough that dawns in the child’s mind around this time. The discouraging factor could also be due to an unsupportive family, which is shown primarily by the short stories “Everything Will Be Okay” by James Howe and “Stray” by Cynthia Rylant. The main characters in each story have a conflict over a desire. In “Everything Will Be Okay” Our main character loses the argument in the end and the kitten he desperately wanted to keep the cat, but he learns the invaluable lesson not to give up on your dreams.
In Embattled Dreams, author Kevin Starr explains the decade that begins with World War II and ends with the growth of states that were part of the war, concentrating on the United States specifically California. The book speaks about the changes that the war brought into California and how it was a catalyst for major changes in the state’s economy and society. It focuses on the development of California. Many books show the major events that changed a country, but there were smaller stories within the country that demonstrated to the development as well. The author wants to show readers that California contributed much to the war cause, building machinery and such, but this book emphasizes the effects these jobs had on society. Kevin Starr
The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don’t like to
Animal Dreams, by Barbara Kingsolver, which revolves around reverence for the natural environment, and Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992, about the Los Angeles Riots of 1992, by Anna Deavere Smith, present different sides of human behavior. Animal Dreams is a novel about Codi, a woman who returns to her hometown and helps the townsfolk protest peacefully against a mine that damages their water supply. The preservation of nature and the ability to make a difference by protesting peacefully are major themes in the novel. Twilight is a play that consists of edited interview transcripts of various people who observed and experienced the Los Angeles riots of 1992. The riots began in response to the acquittal of a group of white police officers who were videotaped beating Rodney King, an unarmed black man who had been driving under the influence at dangerously high speeds. Violence escalated among the people of Los Angeles until it was declared a disaster area only a few days later. Thousands of businesses were damaged, and dozens of people died. Twilight and Animal Dreams have contrasting major themes when it comes to how people will act in response to having their lives threatened. The people of Twilight and Animal Dreams have similar motives but opposite responses. Twilight shows the brutal nature of humanity when motivated by injustice, while Animal Dreams highlights the peaceful nature of people even when faced with powerful, oppressive institutions.

I am currently reading Wide Awake and Dreaming: A Memoir of Narcolepsy, written by Julie Flygare. The book is about a young adult experience the early signs associated with narcolepsy and the effect it has on her daily life as a law student. While this book doesn’t directly tie to a particular field, it does tie well with my life as well as future plans in similar career fields. One thing I can say is that I have so far learned a lot from flygare stories based of the 100 pages read out of 209 pages’ total. I learned that law school is the most stressful time of an individual life and that there really isn’t time for much sleep. Also, the best way to get ahead is to sit the closest to the professor
Their relationship becomes harder to maintain there and scandal begins to erupt. The storyline of this movie focuses on Jefferson and Sally’s relationship. Sally is sent to accompany Jefferson’s daughter Polly on her travels to Paris. In the movie Sally and Polly look to be around the same age.
I love the dynamic that is the Chubby Chasers Inc. The ladies are a tight knit, they are funny, caring and so sexy in their own way and added Javi to the mix. This book is pretty amusing and off the hook, but kept my interest.
Each chapter of the book starts off with a dream that Alison has. The dream sequences take up 3 pages. The first page is a single full page panel, the only text being the title of the chapter. The next two pages are typical rectangular panels, placed on a black background, portraying what occurs in the dream. The last panel loses its border and appears to float in the black space of the “gutter”. The majority of the chapter is contained in rectangular panels of varying sizes. The third-to-last panel reverts back to the black background of the dream sequence. The last two pages of each chapter share one single panel in the middle, surrounded by the black void.
Dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep. Everyone dreams, whether they remember it or not. The real question is why some people remember their dreams and others do not? The art of remembering dreams is influenced by the first few minutes after waking, the health of a person, environmental, and biological factors. A person has a large impact on their ability to recall dreams along with what they dream about, even though many people do not know about this.
