If I were to disagree with the author's opinion my argument would mainly be about the positive effects of bringing cell phones to school. The author had made a powerful argument on why cell phones should not be allowed in school settings nevertheless, there are also many positive reasons why cell phones should be allowed in school settings. One example in particular is for emergency reasons. Most children's parents would like their children to bring their cell phones to school in case of emergency. Cell phones really could keep you safe believe it or not. The number of 9-1-1 is a very useful number that could save many people's lives. During school, it could happen to be that there is a very serious and life-threatening situation that takes
The “Mother Hens Cluck” article is better after than the “Trust Your Gut” article. Because First of all, it gives a lot of information about why cell phones should be aloud. Additionally, this blog gives at least 4 reasons like. Many kids struggle in school with homework and stuff but cell phones and electronics help them so much to understand what they are doing. Or it tells us that her students have the same right to use their phones as much as she does. Some of the evidence is she loves her cell phone and she thinks her students do to which makes her let them use their cell phones. Also, there is so many tools that her students can use to help for instance, apps for the children's behavior management, receiving feedback on their homework,
The tone of the author to me is extremely solemn. My reason for this is because the author really wants to get his point across. The subject of bringing cell phones to school is very serious. The author really disagrees that kids are allowed to take their cellphones to school. He gives us many supporting details and a lot of supporting evidence in order to get his argument to the public! Bringing cellphones to school is a negative effect towards learning says the author. He’s saying that if you do not bring your cellphones to school, the level of intelligence would increase juridically. Basically the author wants to put this issue to an end,
Primarily, schools should not allow cell phone use during school hours for a number of reasons; cell phones cause distraction and affects the student’s participation in the classroom. In the article “Should Schools Allow Cell Phone Use During the School Day?”, Punoinoin states, “Many
Why have cell phones a good or bad thing for kids minds? Banning cell phones in school would limit students learning by more things coming from the teacher and having better grades. According to the text, "Banning Cell Phones in Schools" has evidence for the following side.
These are the reasons why I think that students should not be allowed to have cell phones in school. Losing a phone is a major problem for young phone users. Texting is very addictive and may interfere with school work. Another reason is that students may attempt to play a video game instead of paying attention in class. Cheating is also a very worrisome possibility in middle school. In the next paragraph, I will go into detail about the reasons I have just stated.
Cell phones should be allowed in school but some people say it is a big distraction but on the other hand it is also a big resource. Some resources the cell phone have are calculator, definitions, calling, and last is google. Another one is that people uses it during class but you could people could use it it they have discipline. Also another thing is that you could use it to call your parents in case of an emergency.
As you can see there are more good facts than bad ones but not only that. I also think kids should have phones in school because they could be helpful to school work, they can also be used to calm the mind while it's at work. Plus think about it, could you imagine that we had no cell phones at all and your family is in danger! Like said before, there are many many reasons why you should not ban cell phones in school. Studies show, that most people that work (at home, in an office, government, or even construction workers) have cell phones! So why shouldn't kids have them in school? Makes no sense! Another reason kids should have cell phone in school is that they can be used in math class for a calculator, or used in language arts to look up vocab words, and even used in spanish, english, and or german to study the other
All people are on these days are their phones, so it makes sense that teachers say that cellphones cause a distraction among classmates. However, many children and even some parents want phones to be allowed in schools. Believe it or not, phones can benefit students as well as the school! Cellphones can actually serve as a learning tool both in and out of the classroom. On the contrary, some schools already have tablets or laptops for their students to use for educational purposes, so why are phones needed? Phones aren 't necessarily needed, but they can make a huge impact on the school and its community. Despite what people say, phones can actually be helpful by saving the school money and giving students a ticket to their safety in case an emergency were to occur.
Oh my gosh! I think I am about to die! I just found out that some schools do not allow students to have cell phones in school. Modern cell phones are capable of much more than sending text messages in class, now they are capable of calling someone in case of an emergency. If someone is in need of help and no one has a cell phone, there is no way anyone could get them help, if someone is bleeding a lot more than likely they would die if no one calls the emergency center. There is an average of ninety-four percent of students who goof around and play on their cell phones during class or school hours, that is only six percent of students who could manage to not play on their cell phones until the end of the day. If someone would like to see if they could manage to get through the day without using a cell phone, they could try the "no cell phone for a day" challenge. The "no cell phone for a day" challenge is when someone gives their cell phone to their parents and they could not have their cell phone back until twenty-four hours are up, if they could get a day without their cell phone, then they should be proud of them because they have proved they could get through the day without their phones, If you do not pass it then you are addicted to the phone and you need to get help. Teachers and principals should let students have phones at school.
Critical Essay: Having Cell Phones in Elementary School Today’s new generation is referred to as the iGeneration because of such technologies as the iPhone, iPad, iTouch, and so forth (Rosen 8). As recently as the past decade, schools have had to determine their stance on students with personal electronics in the school, from the use of storage devices such as the flash drive, to the use of iPods for listening to music and podcasts, to the use of cell phones. Many schools quickly developed policies against the use of any personal electronic devices. The policies were aimed mostly at the high school level but trickled down to the lower grades. Very recently, though, educators have come to realize that student use of personal electronics may alleviate the stress of not having available enough computers, tablets, and other electrons in a timely, readily accessible manner for individual student use. They also have come to realize that banning cell phones in school may be too difficult to enforce. Parents want immediate access to their children, for example. However, addressing cell phones in high school, or even junior high school, is somewhat different than addressing it for elementary-aged students. A major concern for children’s use of cell phones centers on the issue of electronic bullying. Students on all grade levels encounter bullying, whether they are witnesses to it, are victims of it, or are perpetuators of it. What makes electronic bullying even more of a concern is
In today’s society, college students spend a lot of time on their phones in the classroom, rather than paying attention in class. “Students are more distracted than ever. They tend to check their digital devices, particularly, their smartphones, on average of 11.43 times during class for non-classroom activities.” (Schaffhauser) Students do not pay attention, their grades go down, miss the lesson, some students even do it because they are bored and trying to make the time go by faster, sometimes your professor will call you out. “College professor have fallen into two camps: those who believe cellphones, laptops, and tablets should be allowed in class, to assist with instruction and to model responsible usage of the devices, and those who believe the devices should be banned, to eliminated distractions.” (Gose) Students are get digitally distracted by texting, checking their social media pages, or even playing games on your phone.
Throughout the last couple of years a major world wide debate has been if students should have smart phones. It has been said that cell phones have been very helpful to not only the students but some of the teachers as well. The podcast states “But these devices are being integrated into lessons.”(00:18) These devices can be just as helpful during class then after class. Many students need the cell phones to do calculations, research, show up on time, and to keep up with their schedules, buy parents also want their children to have cell phones so they can directly message them in case of an emergency and so they can just communicate with their children. Technology can be a powerful tool to help students learn and many students benefit each day from technology use. The podcast states “I feel like it is important for them to learn how to cope with having a powerfully addictive engaging device”(15:38) This teacher stated that he mostly teaches college bound 18 year olds, so this quote means that for these soon to be adults smart phones are a big responsibility step into becoming an adult. In short many teachers believe that smartphones are a big help and a big tool in the classroom and they help with the development of these students.
