While my responsibilities included teaching, I spent most of time mentoring 122 students through the test plan development and experiments required by the lab’s seven modules involving topics ranging from material property characterization, flow loop, and performance testing of vacuum cleaners. In addition, I trained new graduate lab assistants; developed two new lab modules addressing industrial safety for operating lathes, drill presses, and milling machines; and developed a presentation on the technical writing skills required for the content and format of the lab reports. Due to my 6 years research and educational background in engineering design, I am interested to teach various courses across the mechanical engineering curriculum including MECH 220 Mechanics, MECH 202 Graphics for Design and Manufacture, MECH 222 Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Lab, MECH 353 Solid Mechanics, MECH 355 Manufacturing Processes, and MECH 302 Finite Elements in Analysis and Design immediately after starting. Moreover, I am interested to teach thermo-fluid courses because my Master of Science concentration was on experimental heat transfer and thermo-fluid sciences.
In both my teaching and mentoring, I practiced and used a student-centered learning approach. I make sure to ask students a series of guiding questions lead
Out of all of the skin care products in the world, your bathroom cabinet needs to be filled with products researched and designed by me. When I entered high school, I discovered my passion for selecting lip sticks, lip glosses, lotions, perfumes, and makeup foundations. You name it. After learning about the connections between the information in my chemistry class and these items, a light bulb went off! I maintained an A average in chemistry throughout the whole year! Additionally, in 2014, I became a student in the Academy of Engineering and Technology, which also heightened my interests in chemistry. In a science fair at that academy, there was a chemistry course where we made colorful slime, and during that process, I learned that I get an adrenaline rush when I am mixing different chemicals together to see what the outcome is. Majoring in chemistry at Norfolk State University will definitely prepare me for a very successful future in chemistry! My ultimate goal is to conduct research and development for chemical cosmetics. I plan to obtain employment at the greatest companies in the world such as L'Oréal and Avon.
I do this through challenging, supporting, and providing guidance to them through sincere human interaction. I challenge their assumptions and push them to be authentic. I support their growth along their own unique path. I provide guidance to them by offering insight and lessons I have acquired on my own journey. I strive to ask the right questions and give the right feedback to help students understand WHO they want to be as opposed to WHAT they want to be and decide what kind of legacy they want to leave behind.
The contributions that I will bring to West Chester University all have to do with the ideals by which I live. First of all, I have been told that I have a friendly and inclusive nature. I am a very driven and motivated individual who derives much satisfaction out of leading and helping others. I feel these qualities contribute when I participate in the various activities and community services which are a part of my life. As part of the executive board of the Health Activism and Awareness Club we have been able to successfully raise attention to various life-threatening diseases. My nature and drive allowed me to recruit over one hundred volunteers for the club’s annual 5K to raise awareness towards different charitable organizations such
As a transfer student, I want to feel California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) such as my home. Being ambassador, it is the best to learn about my school, share my experiences, motivate other students to work towards their goals, look for help if they need, show other students our school's resources, and make others feel special for being part of CSUF.
The pursuit of knowledge helped me love books and which brought me to Creighton University. Since my childhood I was eager to learn as much as possible, specifically the environment. I was fascinated about wildlife and how beautiful it looked. Being a native from Nairobi, Kenya; I was able to go to the safaris and learn about the different animals. These are the memories which I vividly remember and keep close to me. When I went back many years later, I was disappointed to see how my city has changed. This was disheartening because the city didn’t change for the best. This caused me to go for a minor in Sustainable Energy. The Energy department at Creighton is being cut back on and is limiting our class options to learn. Northeastern University
I would love to be a part of Central Michigan's athletic training program. I have a deep love and passion for sports. After High School I would still want to be in the sports field and I also like caring for people which would make Athletic training the field for me. I am currently a captain on my basketball and track team. I make others around me better and take on the role of being a leader. My goal is to graduate and get my degree. After that I envision myself being a strength and conditioning coach or an athletic trainer. I want to be a good athletic trainer at a college or pro level.

Who we are is a concoction of our life journey, relationships, tastes, goals, and countless other things. I am a family girl from Mexico who is a first generation college student. My family is the greatest part of who I am. They would give and do anything for me and vice versa. Life has brought me to the construction science program at Texas A&M and I could not be more excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
As a current student at Brazosport College, I am extremely honored to be nominated for the 2017 Distinguished Student Award. I will be graduating in May of 2017, and I can proudly say that completing my first two years at Brazosport College have been an amazing start to my higher educational career.
Since the 8th grade, I’ve known I wanted to be a student at Howard University. Howard University has cleared every major specification that I so very looked for in school in a way no other school could ever. From the moment I stepped on campus the beginning of my junior year, I knew this was the place that I would be able to thrive and inherently become a better “Me”. Howard exudes a certain liveliness that attracts me… Whether it’s the prestige and notably, the mass opportunities presented to all of its students, or the noticeable ambition that exude off each student; I Matthew Smith want to be part of it.
I am an instructor who have a passion for guiding students through the learning process, in addition, my passion is the material I present. One of the best ways to foster learning is to demonstrate those feelings to my students through positive encourage learning by creating a comfortable environment for students, stimulating an open discussion about concepts being presented and organizing material in a way that makes it easiest to understand. I treat subject matter as interconnected, emphasizing that everything students are learning fits together into a holistic understanding of the world, from which they develop their personal experience. I believe this is best accomplished when I am demonstrating general research methodology. I demonstrate that learning how to find information applies to all areas of life and I use topics and examples that are multidisciplinary. Finally, I believe that respect for my students is one of the most important things I can show - not only to encourage their openness to the material I am presenting, but also to encourage them to respect each other and all other
I did not realize I wanted to be a physician until three years ago. Once this realization occurred, I worked very hard to overcome the shortcomings in my undergraduate studies. I have maintained a job in order to pay for undergraduate and graduate coursework. This has forced me to enhance my time management and multi-tasking skills, which in turn have allowed me to be exposed to countless experiences and activities.
I feel by attending at Colorado Christian University will give me opportunity to advance my career with Frontier Communications. I am wanting to go into training which requires intensive communication skills along with leadership and organizational skills. I also want to continue my education to display and model to my 2 children that you can reach your goals no matter what obsicles that may come to try to deter you. I was pregnant with my first child at 15 years of age. The struggle from having a child at a young age was a very difficult and challenging time in my life. During that time I had no thoughts of continuing my education beyond high school. Some days I had no energy, I no focus, and even determination, I was at a point where I was only surviving day to day was
I have taken and loved a variety of my media classes here at Ball State University. I have taken courses in video production, audio production, news production, copywriting, scriptwriting, newswriting, interviewing, reporting, photography, graphic design, media analysis, and media law. I have really enjoyed getting familiar with all of the different journalism, telecommunications, and news departments at Ball State University, and have aspects of each program that I enjoy. Although many of my classes have been very challenging and time-consuming, I am not discouraged. Instead, I feel as though I am more excited graduate, get my degree in Telecommunications with a Concentration in News Production, and start a career in the industry. Even though some of my required courses have been for print media, I have enjoyed my courses for broadcast media more. I feel like there are aspects of video and audio media that can’t be told in writing, and that is why I am working to get into
