My brother was bullied during this middle school and high school years. Yet, my brother learned martial arts as a way to defense. However, I was more of an resorted in listening to music and keep all my emotions to myself. I learned over the years the power of speaking out and having a great support system.

In the article Big Bad Bully by Hara Estroff Marano she discusses the main components of behavior that make up a bully, who can be a bully and why people choose to bully others. In the beginning of the article she focuses on suicide victims who could no longer take the mental, physical and emotional abuse of bullying. Marano (2017), “Months later, in Cherokee County, Georgia, 15-year-old Brian Head grew tired of the same teasing and deeds. The denouement was only slightly more remarkable. He shot himself to death—in front of his classmates. He walked to the front of the classroom and pulled the trigger.” The same teasing and deeds Marano is speaking of is being tripped in the hall, various name calling and being physically bullied. The article goes into depth of how the Western society treats bullying. We are prone to often dismiss bullying as kids being kids and, teachers are in denial that any such behavior exist in their class. However, the sad truth is that more times than not there is always a classroom bully. Because we often overlook the severity of bullying choosing to close our eyes we get a harsh reality when someone commits suicide. It forces us to acknowledge the hard truth with open eyes that we have chosen to close for too long.

As I mentioned before, kids may become a bully because they are having trouble at home. For example, there mom could have grounded them for no reason. So then the next day, they go to school and take it out on another kid. It is a fact that, kids may become a bully to feel like they are fitting in, or they might think that they are part of a group. It could be this way because they see other people bullying kids, so then they bully to feel like they are a part of the other kids group.
Kids hurt others and they don’t even realize what bad things they do. Teens think that bullying is just a funny game when it really does hurt people. There are all kinds of victims of bullying and here are some of them. “All four of September’s bullying-related suicides involved young people who were either out of the closet or were assumed gay” [Cloud page 3]. This is important because the kinds that are bullied possibly go through depression. The people that are around them everyday might not notice what they are going through because they might not approve of what they like . People that get picked on have a better chance of hurting themselves than others do. Young people that are messed with on the internet get easily hurt [Kaplan

After some research, I found out that the main reason for someone to be a bully is the lack of attention, when a parent is absent from a child life, this kid crave attention, wants people too notice him. Another cause can be that the kid is being bullied from an older person that represents power to them, for example a parent, teacher or older sibling. That’s why they look for a less powerful target. It may be difficult to grasp, but “How does a bully victim think?” It’s hard to imagine children living in pain, both physically and emotionally. This is how bully victims feel every day. Every time they are confronted by their bully, they feel more and more worthless. Imagine being laughed at, pointed at, and talked about and made fun of on a continuous basis. The impact of these abuses can be devastating. Bullied victims may feel like there is no escape, from the pain and torment. They dread getting out of bed on school days, and they look for ways to stay home.
