Amy,
I really like the direction you are going with bullying effecting our adolescents and young adults today. Bullying is “unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance” (McKenzie, p. 182). The program that you mentioned in your discussion board is what we need to change a culture. Let’s be honest, bullying is happening beyond school aged children in the U.S. Not taking care of the issue early on results in similar behavior when they get older. I have experienced many people attempting or committing suicide due to the actions of someone else. The programs you mentioned would train students and teachers alike. In orders the change a culture we have to start with our kids.
The concept of bullying in the school system has been linked to many homicides and
This program will teach students how to effectively intervene and stand up for victims of bullying. This program will be run and led by students who want and are willing to make a difference, and will be a biweekly FLEX activity, where students can learn about all the sides of bullying, why it happens, the effects of bullying, and most importantly how to stop it. Members will sign a contract and must respect the rules and guidelines of the group. Not doing so will result in probation and if necessary expulsion. Resolving the issue of bullying through a student based program is the most effective solution, because students are the most directly involved in bullying, they are the most effective way to resolve bullying, and they are proving they care about the situation and will make a
The New Face of Bullying chapter emphasizes how to identify bullying and understand gateway behaviors. Three characteristics that identify bullying are power imbalance, repeated occurrence, and intentionality. Power imbalance occurs when bullies are bigger and stronger than the victims. Victims are vulnerable targets since they’re physically weaker and can’t defend themselves. Repeated occurrences occur when bullies constantly harass victims on numerous occasions through different components such as physical bullying, verbal bullying, and cyber bulling. Intentionality occurs when bullies have a negative agenda to cause visible hurt or harm towards victims for their enjoyment.
Over the years bullying has become a problem. It affects kids to even adults. Bullying is a problem here a Buhach and the students should be aware of how to handle a bully. Don’t think that it can’t happen to you because bullying can happen to everyone regardless of your age.
This program can be customized to fit your school needs. There will be an assembly at the beginning of the school year to teach the students about bullying and how to stop it. This program will supply the “ Be A HERO Award” this will be an encouraging act to keep students motivated to be nice to one another and to stop bullying if they see it happening. Another program is the Olweus program. The goals of this program is to cut down on bullying among students and preventing new bullying issues, also achieving better relationships with other peers at school. half of students report to being bullied and or bullying others. Most of the time the person that reports it is anti social behavior, which triggers them to do illegal things. There are many influences that play their parts within Bullying that many of us are not always aware of. Social roles, cultural beliefs and biases, social inequality, and even excising social conditions fall within social issues of Bullying. For starters, a victim and Bullies are considered the social roles of Bullying. The victim often describes the person being bullied as opposed to the bully is the person initiating bullying.
With males all of the things described from the female perspective can also occur. A lot of it has to do with the physical aspect of
“Bullying occurs in school playgrounds every 7 minutes and in classrooms every 25 minutes” (Bullying Myths 2009). This shows that bullying is no small issue, and it is not going to decrease without community support. When the people who lead our country, say horrible things about its people it is hard to understand that bullying is wrong. How can adults, parents, or teachers expected young people to understand that bullying is wrong when they see the most powerful people in America doing it on CNN. Even though, politicians are saying hurtful things to the American public that confuses America's youth, there are resources working to spread awareness.
In recent years, bullying has gained attention due to school shootings and the increased awareness of mental illnesses. It has led people wanting to know why people become bullies and why others become victims of bullying. To answer those questions, it is important to look at bullying from a sociological perspective. It shows what behavioral patterns and norms occur between individuals and their society that leads to bullying.

I have just reached my one millionth hit on my YouTube video! I created this video to share the depths of bullying and abuse to those worldwide. I am extraordinarily passionate about anti-bullying, and I hope to share my ideas with numerous people. Abuse is happening worldwide, and it is an action that might not ever be resolved. I wanted to construct this video because there is an abundance of harassment happening in my own town. People are getting bullied at school due to their style or certain interests they posses. Although bullying takes place everywhere, I wanted to focus my video on one specific event. This event took place in Chicago.

Most people would do anything to make even a small change in this bullying epidemic, so why not start a program to prevent bullying in the first place, rather than deal with the consequences later? Anything is worth a try to stop the tormenting of everybody and just try to realize that we are all human, no matter our race, religion, gender, etcetera. Instead of just telling children to not take the bullies seriously, or to stop bullying, we can teach them. Teach them the effects, teach them to be kind, and teach them that it is wrong to relentlessly put down each other. By implementing a bullying awareness program, one is teaching children about bullying and teaching them how to project their opinions in a considerate manner. Change needs to take place, and it starts with
