Thinking for a change (T4C) trainers: This position requires that the facilitators are certified and by the NIC (National Institute of Corrections) and are able to deliver the training in various group settings. Duties include providing online training via WEB-X and face-to-face training.
Correction and Probation officers should be working in the criminal justice field and have knowledge of the types of cognitive behavioral therapy interventions (CBT) including T4C. It is important that these participants have experience with computers and any other related technologies.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is preferable but not required. It is also required the MSW have some technical experience with webcam, internet, and any other related technologies. Two program assistants will be required to make arrangements, get supplies, make copies, and any other duties needed to help with the success of the program. Program costs: Laptop computer equipped with WEB-X, headphones, and Internet: 53 participants will be in the initial program. This will require the purchase of 30 laptops installed with WEB-X, headphones, and access to the internet. According to "Social Work Licensure.org" (2004) a prospective LICSW must complete a CSWE-accredited graduate program. Later the LICSW candidate will seek associate licensing and complete 4,000 hours of supervised practice. This must include at least 1,000 hours of direct client contact. The direct supervision requirement is 130 hours. At least 70 hours must be under the auspices of a qualified LICSW. I am pursuing an MSW at this time with the goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker in order to provide advanced substance abuse and mental health counseling in western North Carolina. I have many work experiences that contributed to my choice of social work as a profession. I am currently a certified substance abuse counselor intern as well as a certified minister. This essay discusses what we understand by case conceptualization which is also called case formulation ( this paper refers to it in that term) in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and reminds us of some historical background and conceptual underpinnings of CBT case formulation. It then discusses why it’s important, as well as how we use it, in CBT approach. Further the paper draws some differences with Psychiatric Diagnosis. The essay includes some critics from different disciplines and what they say about CBT formulation. It discusses its strengths and weaknesses, and how we work with these. It offers an opinion when and how a case formulation is helpful.
As a probation officer, the officer balanced approach between the use of evidence-base practice and maintaining a responsive officer-offender working relationship is necessary. According to, (Landenberger, and Lipsey, 2005), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been shown to make a positive change on inmate’s actions and socially acceptable behavior by restructuring the way an inmate thinks through new cognitive skills involving therapeutic techniques. While inside the Criminal Justice System, inmates receive the opportunity to take advantage of medical care and receive therapeutic treatment that may not have been available to the individual prior to incarceration.
Probation staff at all levels must have the appropriate skills to working effectively with antisocial offenders. They also should be familiar with the construct of the alliance that will allow them to develop a robust bond with their clients.
To be in this field of work, a proper education is required. The Child Care Career Book says “a masters degree in social work is needed if this person would like to go into the mental health, research, or supervisory positions”.
