This handout is specifically designed as an aid to you as the employees explores your mind and uses your ideas in favor of everyone within the company. Creative problem solving can be accomplished in a simple, systematic process. Use the following process to your advantage as a leader!
EXPLORE THE CHALLENGE! o Determining the Objective: Determine the desire, the goal or the challenge o Analyze the problem that needs to be solved.
Fact Finding: Necessary data are gathered o Point out the “w’s”, who, what, when, where, and why it is important.
Problem finding: Clarify the existing problem o Make certain of the problem and make sure you are focused on the right problem. Find all the facts, data and opportunities

6. Involve your employees in a decision making process that affects them. Employee involvement means commitment!
7. Encourage progression through learning and growth. Show them how to be optimistic and focused on achieving their goals and guide them to be in line with the organization’s goals.
8. Provide employees with a sense of ownership, actual or symbolic, e.g. business cards (whether they need them or not).
9. Strive to create an open, fun, and trustworthy work environment. Be a manager who learns from rather than punishes for mistakes.
10. Celebrate the success of the company, the department, or the individual. Take the time for team meetings and boost morale (TG & Associates, 2012).

In order to create an innovative culture, look no further than these six steps:
Attitude: “We are a team and everyone on our team innovates.” This statement should resonate with your attitude. Not a single person can innovate or motivate on behalf of the whole organization. You don’t have to be manager material but have a mindset that one day you will become a master manager. Encouraging employees to be trained and moved in different departments constantly to broaden their opportunities to be knowledgeable in all areas. Offering opportunities for employees to express ideas to help run business smoothly and actually incorporating them within those job duties. Encouraging team work by letting employees resolve minor issues without the assistance of management as long as they are aware of the problem. This lets employees come together and problem solve giving them somewhat of authority. If an employee doesn’t agree with a manager or supervisor, encourage employees to speak up and fear no one. Always keep a professional demeanor and proper voice tone when bring up matters. We all are human and make mistakes and as a manager, we may see things differently from employees in which they may offer great advice so be open and honest.
Be that employee who, when someone asks you to do something, will feel confident that the job will be done, and done right, without a doubt. Dependability goes a long way in the workforce, and having the reputation of being the employee that everyone can count on is a compliment.
