I came to Canada on dependant work permit with my loveable better half. I came here around six months ago. At that time, I did not have knowledge about Canadian Education system. I did research to get job as a teacher. On basis of that, I found that I should upgrade my education in Canada for teacher job. Therefore, I took admission in centennial college in Community Child Studies and Foundation (CCSF) program. I like this program because it is totally based on human life. Moreover, CCSF course itself open door for students to get jobs in following fields like; Childcare worker, …show more content…
As English is my second language, I am not fluent in English language. When I attended my first class, I was a very afraid and nervous to talk with my professors and classmates. At that time, I decided to improve my communication skills. My classmates and professors are very helpful by nature. I told them about my fear and they agreed to support me. They correct me while I am speaking wrong English and explain me how to get good score in assignments. Furthermore, Professor gave us some different types of the assignment like to go service fair and to found out the answer of few questions. I went there and I talked with people at service fair and I got my answers. These kinds of assignments always gave me opportunity to improve my communication skills. Now, I have a confidence to talk with the people without any …show more content…

On the surface, Canada’s education system appears to revolve around a well rounded and efficient structure. This notion, however, is far from the truth. Although Canada’s standard system of education may seem like a well balanced and efficient system, there needs to be major adjustments made to repair the holes that it has created. These problems include how schools are demanding students to learn unnecessary information that will not benefit most of them and how schools are preventing many students from doing what they truly desire. The government must change the mindset of our current education system so that it focuses less on mathematical and scientific fields and so that it provides more diverse career paths. Doing so will prevent the further destruction of the creative minds of students.
Much of my lower division courses have helped to prepare me for the upper division courses, much of the material in my upper division courses are based upon these lower division courses. Throughout my college career I have met and made many friends not just from the campus that I attend, but from other larger institutions as well, such as Sac State and UC Davis. Upon communicating with them I have gotten a lot of insight as to what is expected of a student at these different universities, such as what has helped them become a successful student, the barriers they have faced, and as well as the do’s and the don’t s. The community college that I attend has blessed me with a great experience and amazing professors who have so much experience and
Although the Canadian economy is in need of serious progress, nevertheless, Canadians should be proud of the their education system. For instance, Canada is the second most literate country among the ones selected; she is just 0.9% under Sweden. This achievement demonstrates the fact that people receive better education in Canada than in other countries. Not only that, because young Canadians are the ones who benefit from the Canadian education system the most and they are the ones who shape Canada’s future, the country has a brighter future than most of the countries in the world.
In my opinion the general education courses are a very important part of a college student development. When a student starts the college process, he or she is exposed to many different areas of education (general education courses). With these courses the student receives a scope of basic knowledge and skills that will provide a framework for his development in any other areas of study, helping him be more successful in the rest of the program.
When reflecting on what I have learned in my general education courses, it is tough to know where to begin. After moving overseas, my first anthropology course initially comes to mind. Even though I am now an anthropology major, when the class was taken, I was studying under another major. Anthropology has enhanced my communication skills in that it has taught me to suspend my own pre-misconceptions and to look at and accept other cultures with a more open mind. Relative culturalism can be described as “A moral stance that requires anthropologists to suspend moral and ethical judgments when interacting with a culture different from their own” (Nowak & Laird, 2010). This has the advantage of setting aside one’s predispositions and allows for
My communication skills have just leveled up during my diploma years, as I become a working committee in the student representative council (SRC) and during my volunteering I converse with so many people with diverse background and religions. I do fail sometimes, make mistakes, but that never ends my spirits in pursuing my dream and I learn from my mistakes and try
The curriculum that Ontario students were taught is important in order to understand the experience of youth during the nineteenth century. As school attendance began to increase, the curriculum became more regulated and structured. During the time when the curriculum was being designed during Ryerson’s tenure as superintendent, there were questions and debates concerning the content that children were taught, as well as assessment methods. The main debate concerning content was centred on textbooks (resulting in Ryerson eliminating the majority of American textbooks) . The curriculum was critiqued by reformers, who believed it was highly impractical. However, the view that the majority of government and educational officials held was that
The Australian Higher Education quality assurance framework, introduced in 2000, had the core function to ensure that quality assurance policies added value to the higher education sector and positioned Australia as a major stakeholder in the global trend to towards “for profit” higher education. In 2005, the Australian Vice Chancellors’ Committee (AVCC), after reviewing quality assurance frameworks, committed itself through the ‘code of Practice and Guidelines for Australian Universities, to the principle that; “the provision of education services to international students, both on-shore and off-shore, brings with it the ethical commitment that quality education be provided and that value be given for the investment made by international students”
I want to be good at communicating. I learned that no one is born a competent communicator because to communicating competently requires skills that we have to learn and practice. I always thought that I can’t ever be a good communicator because the communication trails in my family is weak. We are shy and are not sociable. It is a good thing that “no matter which traits we’re born with, we still have to know how to communicate competently.” The book define communication competent as to communicating in ways that are effective and appropriate for a given situation. Communicating effectively is to use behaviors that achieve your communication goals. Communicating appropriately is to use behaviors that apply in a social situation. In other word,
give me more confident to social with other person and how to speak with them.
The development of good communication skills take time, patience, and practice, but is highly beneficial. In order to continue climbing the career ladder, and to increase your chances of success in life, you need to be mindful of effective communication strategies. (Lewis et al.). Knowing how to communicate with people effectively will make your job as a paralegal much easier. Understanding how to read a client and control how he will perceive you will get the results you are looking for in an interview. Not only will effective communication skills make your job easier but it will make communication in any other environment easier. Practicing these steps in daily conversations with others can help to teach you how others perceive things when they are being spoken to, also teaching you how to be a better listener when you are on the receiving end of a
Effective communication with others whether it be personal or professional is important because there is more power in our words than we often realize. Oftentimes when speaking with others we are trying to establish a rapport and build a relationship. Neither of those can be done and be of any importance or serve any purpose if you are unable to use your words and actions to let the other party know exactly what you mean. As students to move our academic careers forward it is critical to learn not only how to speak with your peers and instructor but how to also listen and use the feedback that is given in ways that can benefit you. Essentially communication is not just about speaking,
As a French major who has minors in both business administration and multi-age education, I feel that I have a broad area to call my discipline. Here at Mount Union, the professors have designed a French program that includes not only language, but a program that gives students a better understanding of the cultures and histories of French-speaking countries. Logic, interpretation, and criticism are all necessary in mastering not only the language, but the discipline as a whole. Logic and interpretation are needed to learn the basics of the language (vocabulary and grammar), and then interpret them into everyday uses. Criticism is used to help learners compare things such as cultural differences between France and other countries. It is also
The communication challenges I had in beginning of this class was learning how to break habit's for example using filler words. In my first intro speech sometimes I would use words like "um or " so during breaks and pauses during a speech. I would sometimes blank out in a middle of a speech in combination with filler words . Also this would bring anxiety while speaking
In addition, the university can help me mature and allow me to become more ready to live on my own and be more of an adult. With this program it allows me to see if the life of university would be a good suit for me. Unlike high school when its free, university is not government paid so the person having to manage the cost of schooling would have to be me, in return, I hope that the thought of having to pay would push me even harder to succeed. In regards to the payment of schooling, I would also have to know how to budget when I come to university due to the high pricing and multiple ways I would have to use my money for. With myself I live about 4 hours away and do not have a car present on campus which results in me getting my own groceries , preparing my own meals, trying to figure out how transit works, and trying to find whenever the bus will decide to show up. I found this way it helps me become way more of an independent person and more able to live on my own without the help of my parents. University when properly used also can help you with getting a career quickly, many people are at the availability of anyone who wishes to use
