Have you ever thought about what a little research could do to help explore your approaching career? The things that will be discussed in this paper will give a clear example of what research could help you. The website that my classmates and I used to explain our Career Research papers, was cfnc.org. I hope, that through research, to discover more about a certain career that may suit my interests and things that I am skilled in.
For myself, I would say that I am interested in many types of art. I like mathematics and technology as well. I took a survey to determine a career that may be suitable for me. By taking this survey, I found out that I was strongest in Human Services, Manufacturing, and STEM. STEM stands for Science, Technology,

This survey resulted that I was a good active listener and a good writer. Having both of these skills is excellent for writing accurately while listening and doing it all in a timely manner. Two other things I scored higher in were Mathematics and Critical Thinking. I assumed that I would get a higher score in these because I can solve grade-average Mathematical equations without thinking much about the actual problem’s process. I love to analyze little things I do on a daily basis. This survey showed me the skills I scored lower in as well. I knew I wasn’t such a good speaker, but I also found that I wasn’t a very good …show more content…
I’ve thought about this, and made myself aware that the extra writing and reading could be helpful for the type of work I may be going into. Throughout high school, I plan to take classes that involve types of art that may help me with a job such as this one. I’ve signed up to take a Visual Arts class and Drafting 1. Drafting 1, I have found, could help with the aspect of sketching, as well as precision and technique in it. This could help the with the job of an Industrial Designer, as they need precision in their work. I do not plan to play sports in high school because, as I have mentioned earlier, I do not work very well in heat conditions. I’m trying to get into an extracurricular class of Jazz band because I’m interested in music as well. When it all comes down to scholarships, one or two that I may want to get, would be a scholarship for Art or Mathematics. I doubt that I would be anywhere close to being that skilled in my art and mathematics to be able to acquire any type of scholarship, such as this one, but getting a scholarship would only require practice, a certain mindset, and a will to get
When I was young I wanted to become a teacher; however, that all changed throughout the years. What had motivated me to become a teacher was all the supplies they had like the whiteboards, the markers, and the construction paper. It seemed fun and interesting to me to have all the supplies. I no longer wish to become a teacher. As I grew older I realized that I wanted to do something that has me going to places, seeing new things, speaking with diverse individuals, and for that reason I chose to be involved in Real estate.
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
“I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile” (Walter Chrysler). Deciding on what one wants to be in life can prove to be a demanding task. There are so many, yet limited, different opportunities in the world to have an excellent career and make a decent living while doing something one loves. It is limited because there are only a few specific career paths that someone could take to make good money. It is very difficult to make a fulfilling living being a garbage man. There are many different opportunities because, within these specific careers, there are usually various paths to take. Someone who has dreams to be a
Through my research I have found multiple jobs that interest me, but there are two that stick out the most: Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist and Psychiatric Technician. Before researching, I had no idea about these jobs, but now I know good deal about them. After researching, I found out in what settings people in these positions work, how much they make on average annually, what their job entitles, what the education requirements are, what the growth rates for these occupations are. The jobs’ settings are very similar, but their salaries and duties are very different. I was able to find that if one just looks at the average, annual wage for each occupation, Psychiatric Technicians make about $28,000 while Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialists make about $34,000. The growth rate for Rehabilitation Counselors, in general, is faster than Psychiatric Technicians, but only by four percent. The overall tasks of each occupation, however, differ greatly from each other.

To further elaborate, individuals in the social aspect are the helpers on the career field. Individuals with an artistic work interest are known as the creators on the career field. Furthermore, individuals in the investigative work interest are known as the inquisitive thinkers. Each of the three work interests contribute to determine the occupations that would best suit my passions. Much to my surprise, however, I discovered that I am most suitable to peruse a career as a college professor – more specifically with a concentration in art. I can understand how my work interests equated to an art professor – after all, an individual in pursuit of this occupation would need to work well with people, acquire artistic abilities, and provide proficient teaching methods in an investigative manner – nevertheless, I do not agree that I should peruse a career in this
The right career path begins with the right college, and the right college should take me to the right path. I always wondered what I was going to do with my life ever since I was 12 years old. When I turned 14 I wanted to become a video game designer but then I looked into it and learned how much I hated it, how much it wasn’t like playing video games. So as I always told myself “if it isn’t right for you then go with the next thing in life you enjoy.”. So that’s when I started my journey of life mentally, looking to the right career for success. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making the decision.
My first and top area of interest was investigative. This describes me well because I like thinking things out. I've always enjoyed watching detective shows where the detective has to look at clues and think about everything to figure out the crime. My second interest area was social. It made sense to me when this was one of my interests because I enjoy helping people. I like tutoring kids and I could see myself being a teacher one day as a backup plan, if things don’t work out with medical school.
I am Shayla Padgett and I am an Assessment and Career Exploration Specialist/Job Preparedness Instructor at South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation. My interest in rehabilitation was accidental, and my own need for a Career Exploration Specialist will be obvious.
INTRODUCTION- Material Handling and Distribution Operation is the career I’m pursuing. The reason I choose this career is because it is inspiring and actually interest me. MHDO is a great career to be in. It’s a great career to pursue because you can learn things that can help you through everyday life. This career also includes forklift driving which can help earn extra pay. When I was working my first job I always watched my friend drive a forklift through the work site. I watch how he focus and move boxes and heavy equipment around. It motivated me to get my forklift licenses and make extra money besides I think it’s very interesting. At the time it was a factory I was working in which is kind of like a warehouse. Ever since then I were determined to get my forklift licenses and I had a plan to get them. Now that I have them I’m coming up with more plans to do things with them.
I have given a great deal of thought to the next leg of my academic and career journey. As I reflect on the road I've taken to get this far, I realize that I have not only learned a lot there were many late night papers, team projects and plenty of reading I have also grown a great deal on a personal level. I think that the best part of reaching this juncture is the realization that I set a goal and achieved it. It is a good feeling of personal triumph. I know that once my degree is officially completed and conferred it will be an accomplishment that can never be taken away.
Due to the increasing competitive nature of the employment market, graduate coursework remains an important aspect of an individual who desires to achieve professional and career development. As an actress, I have gained skills from the performances and exercises that I have done in the past that impacted my development. The skills that I have acquired throughout prier classes are compromising, creative insight and commitment. While I was working on the improvisation unit as the character Mindy, I worked together in a massive group and during that unit we had different ideas, so I decided to combine everyone’s ideas together and compromise with the whole group, until we were all satisfied with the script and the staging. Another skill that I possess is having creative insight. Back in grade 9, my group and I put our intake on a poem called “Escape”, in this poem that we reenacted, I played as a demon. The poem was about someone who is being chased by a man, but after analyzing the poem. I told my group that we could do it about mental health and about someone who is being haunted by their “demons”. Another skill that I have as an actress is commitment. Commitment is crucial when it comes to acting, putting in time and effort into a play is very important. For the final exam that I had last year which was about 9/11, I played the role as a caucasian girl who had a muslim boyfriend that her parents did not approve of. The play that we had was something that was something that took a lot of time and effort. My group and I would stay afterschool to change up scenes and I would stay up late writing the scenes. It was a lot of commitment that my group and I had to put
Finding a specific career path can not only be difficult, but it can also induce bouts of anxiety, anger, and sadness over a crucial part of an individual’s life. Settling on a career can be unnerving when thinking about the fact that this is the career that you spend thousands of dollars on in college, that this is the career you will work in until you retire. With this course, I’ve found that it has been easier to narrow down a goal towards finding a career. Through career assessments, different assignments and discussions, I have realized what my barriers and strengths are. Overcoming these and improving these skills or applying them to an actual career assisted me in narrowing my goal as well. I am now able to clearly see the advantages and disadvantages of my career goal and to think clearer about the next steps that I will take after this course.
My career path was rerouted after the birth to my son. I was managing a 24-hour Alarm Monitoring Call Center with two years of college education in Psychology. Due to an inconsistent work schedule and difficulty locating Psychology courses that worked around my schedule, I decided to change my career path to Business Management, since I already had nearly 8 years experience in supervision and management. My mentor introduced me and made me familiar with the Dictionary of Occupational (DOT) following high school. The DOT is comprised of all occupations and job titles, salary ranges, responsibilities, and industries (Berry, 2003). As I prepared for my new journey, I evaluated my decision, researched, planned, applied for new occupations that interest me, and prepared for my new career in Management.
