I was sitting stationary in the parking lot of Public works observing Casey's gas station. Officers received a report from earlier that a suspicious white vehicle had pulled into the parking lot and left on several different occasions.
While observing the gas station, Ofc. Lazic and myself observed a black pick up truck pulling a black trailer traveling north at the 200 block of S Colfax st.
The trailer's rear ramp was down and was dragging on the street. Officers could not observed any license plate on the trailer due to the ramp being down.
Ofc. Lazic got behind the vehicle and was able to detain the vehicle at the 1500 block of east Main St. I pulled in behind Ofc. Lazic to assist. I made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was

Ofc. Tharp. During the interview Caston stated that he was paid $100 by John
Staples to retrieve the trailer. Caston stated that the trailer was located on the side of the road on Colfax st just south of Casey's gas station. Officers know this to be false since officers had already patrolled that area heavily from the suspicious vehicle report from earlier. Officers never observed a trailer to be on the side of the roadway in that area. Caston further stated
Julie Zima had nothing to do with what was happening and wanted us to let her go. Caston provided me with the telephone number to John Staples. I called John on the department telephone. John answered the phone and identified himself as

Murphy was interviewed by myself and
Ofc. Tharp in the audio and video recorded conversation. Murphy was read his constitutional rights. Murphy waived his rights and stated he would talk to officers. Murphy signed the waiver form in the presence of myself and Ofc.
Tharp. Murphy stated that he had met up with Zima and Caston at John Staples house. Murphy stated Caston then said he would give him a ride home. Murphy stated that they drove straight from Staples's house and did not stop anywhere until they were stopped by police. I confronted Murphy with the fact that Caston and Zima were both providing two completely different stories about what they were doing this night. Murphy could not provide a real reason why their stories would not coincide. Murphy maintained that he was being driven home by Caston and that they did not stop anywhere after leaving Staples house. Murphy further stated that the trailer was already attached to Caston's truck when he was at
Staples's house.
I have probable cause to believe that Caston, Murphy, and Zima knowingly and intentionally stole Brian Watkin's trailer, which was parked to the rear of
Hudec Woodworking at 148 S Ivanhoe Ct. Caston, Murphy, and Zima are all charged

Your truck's gross weight rating is how much it weighs without any cargo. A pickup’s payload rating is how heavy the cargo you place in the bed before the back end starts to lean too close to the rear tires. Weight distribution is also important to be aware of and is important in gauging the safety of the load.
