According to Robert Frost once said, “ Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire.” This quotation can link to the concept of global warming. Global warming can be interpreted as an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that induces corresponding changes in climate, and that may be associated with the greenhouse effect. I chose to do my cause and effect essay on global warming because I believe it has a significant impact on humans, not only today but especially in the future.
Greenhouse gases are the main reason that causes global warming. Nowadays, a lot of human activities happening that produce greenhouse gases. For example, burning of fossil fuels and deforestation will produce carbon dioxide, exploitation process of coal and oil, leakage of natural gases, landfill, cow-raising and rice planting will release methane. Moreover, the usage of fertilizers will result in the production of nitrous oxide. Furthermore, refrigerators coolants will create chlorofluorocarbons. Last but not least, aerosols are also one of the most severe greenhouse gases that lead to global warming. Aerosols are a material contained under pressure and able to be released as a fine spray, typically through propellant gas. An aerosol can range from hairspray to dust particles in the air. The new worries that are starting to show influence in society today are the increase in carbon dioxide from the use of
Humans are pouring carbon dioxide into the atmosphere at a much faster rate than the rate at which plants and oceans can absorb it. Global warming is the increase in the overall temperature of the Earth 's atmosphere; global warming is a delicate topic because it is happening right now no one can stop it from happening. It is already transforming life on Earth, shifting the seasons, raising the temperature and rising the sea level. Other effects of global warming include stronger storms, extinction of species, rapid disappearance of Artic ice, and the increase of the ozone hole. It became an issue in 1988 when a scientist from NASA found that "Global warming has reached a level such that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause and effect relationship between the greenhouse effect and observed warming" (Hansen). James E. Hansen testimony was a big thing that everyone start to worry about it and everyone was talking about global warming because the media contribute to it. Global warming is a big thing happening right now but we don’t listen to others and we continue with our life’s without looking around us and without helping to stop the cause of it because as a humans we make errors during life but we learn from the errors and the bad choices. Although some people believe mankind is not responsible for global warming, it is a serious problem worldwide and measures are need to help slow the problem.
“The warnings about global warming have been extremely clear for a long time. We are facing a global climate crisis. It is deepening. We are entering a period of consequences” (Al Gore). Global warming is a nationwide problem that is affecting people and the environment by the greenhouse gases. Global warming increases the atmospheric temperature. For instance, the solar radiation is reflected by the Earth’s atmosphere. Earth 's surface absorbs most of the radiation, and it warms it. Part of the invisible light traverses the air. A few are immersed and transmitted in an outright direction by pollutants molecules. The effect of global warming is an increased temperature of the earth’s surface and the lower atmosphere. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) “which measures long-lived greenhouse gases increased 37 percent from 1990 to 2015, and of that, carbon dioxide accounted for 80 percent of the increase” (Keating 2). The greenhouse gases are causing that the temperatures rise. Global warming is a huge problem that we face today; it is caused by the greenhouse effect that leads to climate change and the extinction of many animals.
Human life have been significantly affected by the industrialization of our planet, consequently resulting in an increased emission of greenhouse gases. These gases have contributed to the increasing temperature of the Earth which is known as Global warming. Of all the greenhouse gases, Carbon dioxide emission have the largest impact that contribute to Global warming. In addition, increasing carbon dioxide emission has become a growing trend in developed countries. The evidence of global warming are glaciers retreating, extreme weather patterns occurings, and animals that depend on cold climates for survival are at risk of being extinct. Even with the evidence of Global Warming, there are some people who does not believe in global warming or see it as an issue that should be addressed. One of the common arguments by non-believers of global warming is that the earth surface temperature was always increasing in the past.
One of the most severe issues facing the world today is global warming. There are several scientists who argue that society’s production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are having an intense heating effect on the earth’s atmosphere and that this would eventually mean catastrophic effects for human life. Global warming is the gradual heating of the Earth’s surfaces, oceans, and atmosphere. Most of the leading scientific organization in the world acknowledges global warming as a global threat, 97% of climate scientists agree that the rate of global warming trends the planet is now experiencing unnatural occurrences, but it is primarily the result of human activity. The effects of global warming are visible as climate change continues to endanger the Earth’s atmosphere, along with the inhabitants, industries, and ecosystems. To decelerate or end global warning we should give tax breaks …, promote the manufacture eco-friendlier vehicles (such as eco-boost, hybrids and electric), and relying on natural resources.
Global warming is the long term trend in the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This entrapment of greenhouse gases is what is causing average temperatures around the world to rise. Global Warming is responsible for the increase in natural disasters, because since the global climate has been continuously increasing over the years it has increased the chances for natural disasters to occur around the world.
Global warming, often confused with the term “climate change,” is a problem of worldly proportions that knows no limits and if it continues unchecked, the effects felt around the planet could be devastating; everything from human society, to the environment, to the world economy would be altered in one way or another. The purpose of this research paper is to understand the topic of global warming, its causes and effects, in order to help understand better what actions we can take to slow down its progression and become part of the solution. Global warming, as it stands, poses a monumental threat to the planet and all of its occupants; while mega polluters do not have an incentive to stop greenhouse gas production, we can, as individuals
The earth is getting warmer, animals and their habitats are declining, human health is at risk and the cause of all this terror is Global Warming. Global warming will cause many parts of the world to change. In the next 50 years climate change could be the cause of more than a million terrestrial species becoming extinct. Sea levels will raise which means more flooding and is not good for the plants. With too much water the plants will die and herbivores will lose their food source as well as their habitats. As a result the food chain will be broken and survival for any creature is slim to none. In conclusion, Global Warming is an important issue, but before we can devise any solutions we must first understand the causes. This paper will focus on the causes of global warming and argue that excessive carbon dioxide emissions is the predominate cause.
Global warming has been a hot topic for many years and the climatological phenomenon was the subject of 2006's An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary focuses on Al Gore's campaign to bring attention to the problem of global warming through a slide presentation that he has developed and lectured on around the world. This documentary brought to light global warming and the effects that it is having on the environment.
The average temperature of the earth continues to rise over the years and we as humans have not conquered a win with this beast. We ourselves are adding more fuel to the fire as one would say. It is happening in communities all around us, from the constructions taking place to the cars driven on our roads, even the mass production of our products has an effect on climate change and contributes to global warming. Yet people tend to turn a blind eye to global warming and label it as a myth, whether they do not believe in it or it is not in their best financial interest to believe in it. Let us take a closer look at global warming and the effects it has on our people, homes and environments. Global Warming has become a rising problem in our
The number one cause of global warming is the large amount of greenhouse gases being released into our atmosphere on a daily basis. So, as the amount of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere increases, global warming increases. You may be asking how greenhouse gases are associated with the increase of global warming. Greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. These are all formed through the process of burning fossil fuels. Methane traps the sun 's heat in the earth 's atmosphere with the help of the other greenhouse gases through a naturally occurring process known as the greenhouse effect. During the day, the sun shines through the atmosphere. Earth 's surface warms up in the sunlight. At night, Earth 's surface cools, releasing the heat back into the air. But scientists have noticed a high increase in the amount of greenhouse gases being
Global warming is what happens when Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gets trapped in the atmosphere and does not get released into space like it should. Carbon dioxide is a colorless, odorless gas produced by burning carbon and organic compounds and by respiration [13]. Instead
Global Warming is a huge issue that affects the people, environment and world. If it doesn't stop now, results could end up disastrous. What exactly is global warming? Global warming calls attention to the global temperature levels increasing which results to the change in the climate. It is not until recently that people are recognizing the many affects the climate change has made on the atmosphere. Luckily, it isn’t too late to fix the issue but there is still a lot of work to do.
Due to the warming of the Earth and the changing climates, more major shifts in the weather could happen more frequently. Many scientists worry that the continuous warming of the atmosphere in the future decades could causes destructive storms and extreme climatic events to occur more often. El Nino, the Pacific coast phenomenon that causes a warm current along Peru’s coast, has occurred for the last four years in a row. It has led to crop failures in Australia and floods in California and has affected the monsoons of Southeast Asia (Bender 77). Meteorologist Gerhard Berz states that global warming is affecting the severity and frequency of natural disasters. The amount of destructive storms in recent years is four times more than there were in the 1960s (Bender 77). These temperamental storms could have vast effects globally, wiping out countries, and taking lives of all kinds of species on Earth.
Aerosols have two major effects on the climate. They include direct and indirect radiation. “ The cooling or warming of the atmosphere due to the reflective or absorbent properties of the particles are considered direct effects. Reflective particles cool the atmosphere by scattering energy from the sun back into space. Absorbent particles have the opposite effect. They add to atmospheric heating by absorbing the sun’s energy.” (Calipso Outreach) An indirect effect of aerosols is their roles on cloud condensation nuclei, CCN. The use of aerosols has a huge relationship with the amount of CCN present in a cloud. Clouds with more CCN, from the higher use of aerosols, are larger and more reflective than those with fewer CCN (Calipso Outreach). Since the clouds are more reflective, light is being trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. Ultimately creating the earths temperature to rise. In Calipso Outreach they explain, “ The particles pushed into the atmosphere from a dust storm are made of minerals with both reflective and absorbent properties. The ability of the particles to absorb sunlight is thought to have a net warming effect on area of the atmosphere they occupy.” The particles from the dust storm get trapped up in the earth’s atmosphere, creating almost a mirror for sunlight to be reflected by. With the more sunlight being reflected, the hotter the temperature will be on Earth. Aerosols are a huge cause of global
Greenhouse gases are compounds in the atmosphere that can trap and hold extra heat, which increases the temperature in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases is the cause of the greenhouse effect that leads up to global warming. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun’s warmth in the lower atmosphere that is due to the visible radiation from the sun. The solar radiation reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, then the rest of the sun's energy is absorbed by the oceans and lands which result in the heating of the Earth. After that the heat from the Earth goes towards space, some of the heat is trapped in the atmosphere by greenhouses gases which make the Earth warm enough to tolerate living life. The burning of fossil fuels and land clearing start to increase the number of greenhouse gases which travels into the atmosphere. The result of trapping extra heat cause the Earth’s temperature to rise. Scientist's has proven that the constant increase of heat in the atmosphere is caused by humans. The reason humans are proven guilty for the increase of global warming is because of the amount of carbon that is put into the atmosphere. Carbon is released from burning coal, oil, and gas or cutting down and burning forests. Carbon (CO2) is known as the main source of heat-trapping gas which is mainly responsible for the increase of warming over the years. The removal of trees is another cause of global
