Cedarville University is a college I would like to attend. There are almost 3,500 undergraduate students currently attending Cedarville. It has several large academic departments, including nursing, business administration, and education. Cedarville has a presence in 47 states and U.S. provinces, as well as 28 countries, including France, Germany, Ireland, and Wales. (Supplee 41)

Cedarville University started out as Cedarville College, founded on January 26, 1887. Through the vision of five men and the help of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Cedarville built their first building known as “Founder’s Hall.” Under the leadership of the college’s first president, David McKinney, Cedarville attracted students because of their Bible teaching and liberal arts programs. The first fifty years of the 20th century proved to be hard on Cedarville. The college’s trustees tried several times to revitalize the college before realizing Cedarville was not sustainable any longer. The trustees had to choose between finding a college to merge with and closing down entirely. Jeremiah’s leadership, the college began to grow. In 1959, Cedarville had 255 students and had begun to add faculty and staff. In six years, the enrollment had grown to 763. In 1978, at the end of Dr. Jeremiah’s stint as president, Cedarville had more than 1,200 students. After Dr. Jeremiah finished his run as president, Paul Dixon became the next president. The college continued to grow during his time as president. In April of 2000, Cedarville’s trustee board voted to change Cedarville’s designation from “college” to “university.” The change was made on September 1, 2000. By the end of Dr. Dixon’s time as president of Cedarville in 2003, the enrollment had grown to almost 3,000 students. 100 new fields of study were added and new facilities were built.
