Celebrities As Role Models

The definition of a role model is a person whose behaviour, example or success can be emulated by others, especially young people. Their values, actions and behaviours are upheld as an ideal and to be desired. Being a role model may not be taken in its entirety. It can be broken down allowing a person to be a role model in one area and not another. Being a manager is not a guarantee to be a role model. Good leaders will model behaviours that encourage employees to endorse organisational goals and objectives. By modelling the behaviours you find desirable and that will help reach company gaols others will also begin to model said behaviours.

True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would want to have in the near future and those who interest us in a way that make us want to be a better person. They teach us more about ourselves and encourage us to make better choices. A role model is not just someone who is successful, but someone who has had similar experiences that we have had. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee demonstrates that Atticus Finch is a true role model. Over the course of the novel, Atticus stands up for his beliefs, respects everyone despite who they are and behaves as a true father. Atticus is truly the ideal role model.

My role model is Alex Wassabi but to start off I am going to talk about what it means to be a role model. A role model is a person you admire. They may inspire you or you may want to be like them. Most role models have a positive influence on you and make you feel something inside.

From the opening line of “The Fall of the House of Usher”, there is a gloomy and dark tone that Edgar Allen Poe places on the story. The narrator often describes the scene as shadowy and that foreshadows the horrific events that are to come right off of the bat. This story is written about the main character, Roderick Usher, and the mental illness that falls upon him and his mansion. He invites the narrator to visit him to help cope with this overwhelming fear that consumes him. Throughout the story Poe uses the rhetorical device, symbolism, to depict his feelings and to give a sense of foreshadowing and to give insight into his thoughts and feelings. Poe uses symbolism and imagery in a way that foreshadows the events to come and throughout the story these rhetorical devices give insight into the shifts of Roderick’s feelings and to the components of the story.

A role model is someone who lights the way you can’t, and inspires people to create their own path. They ignite your truth, and know how to turn that flame into a wildfire. A role model doesn’t have to be famous or a hero because they are your hero. They are your familiar face in a sea of unfamiliar souls.

Reasons for being a role model can range from someone giving money to charity or someone saving a cat from a building on fire. You can also be a role model for being courageous, compassionate and caring.

Lupe is a role model because Lupe is a good sport when she is playing marbles, Lupe is hardworking when practicing for marbles, and above all Lupe is smart and strategic. Role models are individuals that set upon a good example. You went above that, threw your own life in a ditch just to save those who cannot possibly think twice of what they do. The unthinking ways of a teenager can lead to a torn family, or an illegal issue. If only we payed more attention to the ones who stand so much taller than us. We could learn to stand just as tall, or even taller.

Ernest Miller Hemingway was an American novelist, short story writer, and journalist. His great understanding and interpretation of writing had a strong influence on 20th-century. A Moveable Feast written by Hemingway describes his life throughout Paris when he was young. He struggled as a young writer and encountered many people like Stein, and Ezra. John J Botta, the author of the book “AMF: A Study in the Genre of Memoir” was very detailed about Hemingway life. Botta states, “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man[…]for Paris is a moveable feast.” (Botta 3). Hemingway knows that Paris made him the man he use to be. True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would like to have. Role models are those who have affected us in ways that influence us to be better people. They are people who others imitate, emulate or look to for guidance. There are good role models who inspire greatness in others and bad role models who are bad influences. There are even anti-role models, pegged by the media as "bad girls" or "bad boys" who serve as good examples of what not to do if you want to become a successful, respected person. With the majority of my time spent as an athlete throughout high school and college, I believe athletes should pose as role models.
