Abstract
Since the world is becoming more computerized, the software industry is growing at a steady rate, with the prospect of even more rapid growth in the future. This report therefore analyses the business environment which is surrounding the software industry, and how the companies which are operating in it can be affected by this environment. The basic findings of the report include the following: the software industry is a very competitive one, and the consumers have a lot of bargaining power. The industry is also affected by the rapid change in the general computing requirements. Moreover, the report analyses the software industry in the context of Intuit Inc., a company which perennially produces financial management software.

Application software is essential to make workers more efficient as well as maintain company information. However, determining the best software to use is often difficult. Your course readings provide an IT Performance Model to determine how software contributes to the company. What are the individual areas in this model and how would they be used to determine the type of software needed for an organization? Are there any areas that were left out and how would they be incorporated in this model?
The IT staffs were certain that the existing SAP software will provide all necessary computer support. They believed that even if the SAP would not fit their business processes precisely, it may be an investment that provides greater long-term flexibility and better solutions to the company’s problem.
The challenge is some of the past development work was done by a consultant. We have option to scale the current work which is not an industry standard and end up paying more money and band aids fixes or develop a new program that we can design and manage for our future growth knowing future growth is inevitable. Software Decision and Negotiation. With the understanding of what is needed from the software, it will be time to start shopping for the best programs that can fill the needs of the staff. The office manager will be in charge of finding two to three of these software programs that will fill the needs. These programs should not only hold the necessary tools, but they should include good reviews, customer service, and competitive pricing. After the programs have been found, the office manager needs to call all three of the companies and see if any are willing to negotiate or offer special discounting for selecting their software. Once the best software and deal is found the office manager needs to schedule a time for their company to come in and install the software and provide a training lesson in how to operate the system. The payment for the system will also need to be arranged.
For the long-term objective, Lenox should reach out to different academic resources so that the top managers can be aware of how IT systems can bring value to their company, and holds great importance for future growth. Having the top executives understand the full benefits and functions of the IT systems will prove to be a substantial long-term solution. The overall lack of knowledge in regards to the new IT systems has resulted in the competitors surpassing Lenox. The Riordan Industries corporate office has been performing a research project to consolidate their financial processes and production software packages. Not one of the three offices or corporate use the same system, which makes data collection, verification, and reporting difficult at best. They need to have a uniform business system throughout all the facilities, as well as procedures implemented in order to attain this goal of seamless data collection they are hoping to achieve.
