Family Guy has a strong resemblance to The Simpsons in the way the structure of the family works along with their dysfunctionalities of the characters. Although they are close in character design Peter Griffin is far more narcissistic than Homer Simpson even in the way he places his faults and his wrong doings on Meg. As oppose to Homer who is more childlike in his actions yet is caring towards his family. In season 4 episode 6 – “Petarded” it shows Peters rationality is almost non-existent, from locking his keys out of the car to questioning what color is the red firetruck. He does realize that trivial pursuit makes him feel stupid until Lois switches his cards to preschool edition to let him win. By winning the game Peter has now assured himself that he is in fact the intelligent, until Brian convinces him to take part in the MacArthus Fellows Program where he takes a test and rather than using a calculator he uses a toy that makes animal noises, he is later declared mentally retarded. We see here that Peters antics affect Lois even though she suppresses the way Peter acts and it shows Lois has a small tumor from all of this. Peter goes as far as wishing for him not to be retarded and closing his eyes while driving, this ensues in Tom Tucker being ran over by Peters negligence. Peter is quite unaware of himself, Season 4 episode 17 – “Fat Guy Strangler” Peter is shocked to hear after his physical that he is in fact fat. He tries to deflect his fatness onto others by
Jersey Shore was a television show that aired in 2009 it was a reality-based look at the vapid lives of several Italians in their twenties and their respective friends and hookups. Throughout the series, there were numberless acts of the violent outburst, alcoholic behaviors, and sexual content all on camera. In a journal written by J. Johnson, he states that “evidence suggests that television’s influence on children and adolescents is related to how much time they spend watching television” (Johnson) and when a child is constantly watching these inappropriate shows they tend to pick up the behavior. First to take a look at the explicit language and violent outburst which can be categorized together as aggression. The show often displays aggressive
This paper analyzes and assesses the personality of the character Felix Unger (played by Jack Lemmon) in the movie, The Odd Couple. "The Simpsons" basis, a father, a mother, and three kids, is far from unusual. The "typical" American is a blue-collar worker not unlike the father, Homer, who works a mindless job at the local nuclear power plant in the Simpsons' hometown of Springfield which is basically Anytown, USA. Marge, the mother, is a fairly typical housewife besides her large blue beehive hairdo. Bart, is the rebellious older son; Lisa, the under-appreciated middle child; and Maggie, the adorable baby. The Simpsons don't live in luxury, but they are a generally happy family that encounters the problems of everyday, and not-so-everyday, life, something that millions can relate to. But there is something that sets "The Simpsons" apart from the

Peter stops criticizing women but, but he never stops being an idiot. Peter also represents wholeness. Wholeness means a system functions as a unit. Without one part the whole system is useless. That is how Peter is. Without Peter, there is no Family Guy. Peter's antics and slanderous comments are what keep the television show afloat. Mark Lilly states," the homophobic critic will resort to raw abuse, with a vehemence that is normally uncharacteristic of the writers I will cite" (Lilly,7).Peter can also be offensive gay, lesbian, and transgender people. He is impulsive, and he does not think his thoughts all the way through. In episodes like "You May Now Kiss the... Uh... Guy Who Receives" and " Quagmire's Dad" Peter criticizes Jasper for trying to marry the same sex, and criticizes Quagmire's Dad for getting a sex change. He constantly harasses them, and causes them pain and hurt.

The show that I decided to watch and analyze about the elderly was Everybody Loves Raymond. I choose Everybody Loves Raymond because it is very relatable and understanding. The show is based on an Italian family living in Long Island New York dealing with everyday life situations. the main character Raymond must deal with his everyday life while dealing with his elderly parents who live right across the street as well. today we see that there are many stereotypes when it comes to the elderly, stereotypes such as the elderly can’t remember things, they’re nosey, or that they know it all. In the show, we see that Raymond’s parents do fall into some of these stereotypes, but also, they do things that make us think that not all elderly people fall into these known stereotypes. We are so accustomed to leaving the elderly in places such as nursing homes whenever we feel like we have no need to take care of them anymore, or if they can’t seem to do things on their own. Raymond’s parents Marie and Frank are still able to do things on their own they still joke around and make fun of their kids. Even after retirement, and helping Raymond raise his kids, they still have Rob who lives with them. Even though their kids essentially make fun of their age, Marie and Frank somehow make the best out of situations.
Today I received a referral from a family who is seeking help regarding their dysfunctional family structure. The Simpson’s are a nuclear family that is having difficulties living as a family. I have already spoken to Marge Simpson and agreed to find a way to get her husband and children to therapy. She has very high aspirations of attending therapy with her family because she has longed for a “normal” functioning family in which her husband and children interact in a much healthier manner than they do now. She described her husband of being careless, her son uncontrollable ate times, and her daughters disconnected from the family. We have set up the meeting for next week, Wednesday at six, when she believed her family
Everybody loves Raymond is a show that was first released during the year of 1996 and ran all the way to 2005. The show is centered around Ray Barone, a talented sports writer who constantly has to put up with his wife, brother, kids, and even parents. Raymond is generally very sarcastic, no matter what the situation, and he does just about everything in his power to not have to deal with his kids. Instead he leaves most of the responsibilities of child care and cleaning to his wife, Debra. Although Everybody Loves Raymond manages to pull off being a wonderful show, it still plays into the stereotypical behavior of Gender roles, which ultimately prevents society from making any real progress.

Final, Steve the last character plays a big part in this theme because of his life.
The author, Tim O’brien of the book The Things They Carried uses events and characters from the memoir in place of some experiences him and the narrator shares. Fictionalizing many emotions and events that happened to Tim through other characters usually that he wouldn’t feel or do. For example Tim talks about how at a point he wanted to run away to canada when he received his draft notice. This feeling of discontent and the thought of war sickened him to the point he was just yards away from Canada but felt as though that would be a coward move. The author and character shared similar ideas however the author Tim didn’t attempt to run away but his character did. O’Brien informs his audience on the difference of the war from the stereotypical
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and when it comes to the television series, Family Guy, everyone does. A person either loves the series or absolutely hates it. Antonia Peacocke voiced her opinion on the hit series in her article, Family Guy and Freud: Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious. At first she was just another addition to the other Family Guy haters, but she eventually came around and saw the humor after the hard to swallow punch lines. “Family Guy does not aim to hurt… creators take certain measures to keep it from hitting too hard.” Peacock says (307). What the creators are reenacting in the shows are not exactly, socially
Thesis: It is the intent of this paper to dig into the life of Peter and see just who this man that passionately followed Christ was. As we dig into the life of Peter we will examine his character strengths, his weaknesses, and overall how Peter was transformed by Christ. We will see how God took a man who more often than not acted without thinking and transformed him into a passionate follower who’s words we read today in God’s very words to us.
Among currently running animated sitcoms, there are a few that have current connections to people and events. Most famous of this genre of shows are South Park and Family Guy. Unlike South Park, which follows a group of friends at school, Family Guy is about a family. The Griffin family consists of parents Peter and Lois, their children Chris, Meg, Stewie, and the family dog, Brian. Instead of showcasing the adventures of an individual struggling to balance impulses and responsibilities, Family Guy focuses on the dynamics created by family members who are extreme in their personality traits and very different from each other. Peter, the father, is impulsive, incompetent, and easily excitable. Lois is the stereotypical responsible mother and wife. Meg is a classic case of a teenage girl struggling to fit in at high school. Chris is your average awkward and immature teenage boy. Stewie, the precocious baby, is by far the smartest and most cunning of the cast. Interestingly, the screenwriters often drop hints that he is gay. He is eager to assume adult responsibilities and motivated to have
