Charles Darwin's Argument I Like Best

My favorite constellation by far is the Gemini constellation. The Gemini constellation is my favorite because my star sign is Gemini. And it is fairly easy to spot in the night sky, although the best viewing month is in February.

Gemini is the constellation I have chosen to use in my essay. The reason for that is my zodiac sign is Gemini, and it's the constellation I am most familiar with. Gemini is composed of several stars, the most popular being Pollux and Casper, the two 'heads' of the constellation. The greek myth where Gemini is orinated from is of two twin brothers -the stars- Pollux and Casper. The constellation is seen between the constellations, Taurus and Cancer.

The constellation that I have chosen is Capricornus. Capricornus is one of the twelve zodiac constellations, and it symbolizes the sea-goat. The best time to see this constellation would be at ten o'clock at night in September and October, especially if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. I chose this constellation because according to Astrology I am a Capricorn and thought it would be interesting to know more about the constellation relating to my zodiac sign. Capricornus has five stars with planets in it's constellation.

My chosen constellation is Gemini, a constellation of the Zodiac. I chose it because both me and my father, who had an important role in my interest for Astronomy, are Gemini. The constellation of Gemini, which means "twins" in Latin, was discovered by Ptolemy in the second century A.D. and it has 85 stars. The Alpha star is Pollux and the Beta star is Castor, which are the names of the two twin brothers that are associated with Gemini.

My favourite constellation is the Aquarius one. I particularly like this constellation because I love the mythology behind it. It is said the the Greeks connected the Aquarius constellation with Ganymede who was known as the cup bearer to the gods. According to the myth, apparently Ganymede was a handsome young boy who Zeus had an interest for. Ganymede was brought to Mount Olympus by Zeus, where he served as cup bearer to the gods and there he was granted eternal youth after he poured out Zeus wine and water which caused a great flood because he didn't want to serve drinks anymore.

I have chosen the constellation Scorpius. I chose Scorpius because it is one of the most interesting looking constellations (in my opinion), and it contains many bright stars. Scorpius means scorpion in Latin, and it is a zodiac sign, although its name is changed to Scorpio. It is in the southern hemosphere, and it lies between Sagittarius and Libra.

Its name means “the twins” in Latin. Gemini is one of the zodiac constellations, first cataloged by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century.The constellation represents the twins Castor and Pollux (Poly deuces), also known as the Dioscuri in ancient times, in Greek mythology.

I chose the constellation of Aries because of it's fascinating history and it's story in mythology. It's located in the northern hemisphere between Pisces to the west and Taurus to the east. It's name is latin for ram and because of that it's sign represents ram's horns. This constellation possesses only four stars: Hamal(Alpha Arietis, second magnitude ) , then Sheratan ( Beta Arietis, third magnitude ) and at last Mesarthim and 41 Arietis ( both of them Gamma Arietis, forth magnitude ).

The constellation I have chosen is Hercules. The reason I have chosen him is because, Hercules signals strength and will. Which are two things I think everyone should have. Another reason is because, he was one of the original 48 constellations found by one of my favorite astronomers, Ptolemy. Today it remains as one of the 88 most common ones. It is also the fifth largest of all the major constellations.

My favorite constellation is Scorpius. I have chosen Scorpius because that is my Zodiac sign, and I have come to learn about it a lot in the past few years. Scorpius is Latin for "scorpion," and Scorpius is in between the constellation Libra to the west and Sagittarius to the east.

The constellation I have picked is The Wolf or Lupus. I have chosen this constellation because I have a fascination for wolves and I find that this constellation is a good representation of that.Wolves are strong, fearless, and don't back down from a fight unless injured or killed.

I honestly do not know much about the constellations and am taking this class to learn more. I am choosing Capricornus because it is my zodiac sign and has some interesting mythology behind it. Capricornus is represented by a creature that is half fish/half goat and the name means "goat horn". The constellation itself is made up of three main stars that form a triangle and within that area there are many mysteries. There are star clusters and galaxies that are over 400 million light years away from Earth and even a planet (Neptune) contained within Capricornus.

The myth associated with the Gemini zodiac is the myth of Castor and Pollux. Castor and Polydeuces, born from Leda’s eggs, had a very strong brotherly bond even though Castor came from a mortal father and Polydeuces came from Zeus (Daly, Kathleen N.). Castor and Polydeuces are known from the Jason and the Argonauts expedition. Castor is killed eventually killed in battle and sent to the Underworld, while Polydeuces was granted immortality by Zeus, but wanted to share it with his brother (Daly, Kathleen N.). Zeus was apparently touched by their brotherly love and allowed Polydeuces and Castor to move back and forth between the Underworld and Olympus (“Castor”). The constellation I choose was Leo The lion. I choose Leo because it is my zodiac sign. The constellation Leo is one of the earliest recognizable constellations. The constellation Leo is also best visible during April. Leo is one of the 13 sings of the the zodiac, and is the fifth sign, representing those born around July 22 until around August 22.

I've chosen the Canis Major constellation, I've chosen this one because I fancy dogs and I love the name Sirius and the star by itself; Canis Major contains Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, known as the "dog star", its bright because of its proximity to our Solar System. The constellation is best visible at 21:00 (9 p.m.) during the month of February and visible at latitudes between +60° and −90°.
