One of the first things a supervisor should do prior to filling a position is to understand what the requirements of the position are. Secondly, the available position should be posted internally on the organizations electronic employment board, website or bulletin board. This internal posting not only allows present employees to submit an application for the position, but shows them that the company wants to promote current employee whenever possible (LaTour, 2013). Another would be to contact the local chapters of these organizations, this would recruit a member of the community who is invested in the region. When recruiting for positions that require an expertise, certification or degree than the recruiter would want to research the authenticity of the credentials list on their resume. That can often be done through online verification services. Although a resume may list the applicant’s education, credentials and job history, verifying them is essential to hiring a qualified employee.
