While it’s true—I had a blast using the Civic Mirror, and as much as it taught me about how Parliament passes laws and the political process, it has some serious omissions: there is no Governor General, there is only one level of government, and there is no Senate.
The Governor General in Canada represents the Monarch (Queen Elizabeth II) and acts as the Head of State (the highest ranking position in a sovereign state) in Canada and abroad. This is a significant position because it is the highest position in Canada and because it represents the Monarch, which has the highest authority. Personally, I do not think this is a position that needs to be included in Civic Mirror. Firstly, there is no Monarch in Civic Mirror. However, for the purpose of the game, the Governor General could act on his own without the Monarch, but that wouldn’t be as accurate to real life. Plus, what would …show more content…

This level, as it is named, deals with laws that affect Provinces or Territories. This level usually is involved with health care, education, natural resources and road regulations. The significance of this level is second to Federal government, but should not be ignored. This level controls entire provinces, including the cities within them. Now, Civic Mirror isn’t large enough to effectively support provinces, and so a provincial government wouldn’t really fit in a classroom. However, if a much larger scale version of Civic Mirror was developed… Again I’ll get to that at the end of this review.
Last but not least is the Municipal government. The Municipal government has everything to do with cities, towns or districts (municipalities). Municipal government is responsible for parks, libraries, water systems, local police, roadways and parking. Municipal may be the lowest scale level of government but some things they are responsible have the potential to affect many citizens more
