All the students were required to participate unless they had a valid excuse approved by the coach. In all of the activities that I observed and participated in, the goals were challenging but obtainable. It was obvious that some students were far more or some far less athletic than others and the coaches were able to adjust their respective goal accordingly and did so without drawing attention to them. All the students knew what was expected of them before they came out to the PE area. They would not begin until they were all assembled and quiet. Once they found out which coach they would be with, the students were required to run or walk one lap around the PE field and meet at the predesignated area. It was both cute and amazing watching the …show more content…
Though some students seemed to require occasional reminders. They knew what to do at the beginning and end of class, when and how to git water and restroom breaks. Sometimes thought it was much like trying to control a group of cats,
What is the quality of interaction between the student and teacher?
The Coaches definitely have a hands-on approach with the students. They demonstrate every skill to the students that they expect them to master as many times as necessary for the students to comprehend. Every piece of equipment or apparatus it kept in good working order, if not, it is removed for repair. The only thing that I noticed was the basketballs that the students had to use were not age specific, that is they were the same size that an adult would use. Coach Davis did in fact have smaller, more appropriate size basketballs ordered.
All the coaches had all the students working with different students trying to avoid the students just hanging out with their friends. That sometimes led to friction or squabbles, but any of that was addressed immediately.

Unfortunately we still had tension among players. It even got as far as one player taking the ball from another on the field in the middle of the game. As the season progressed, this problem practically solved itself as we bonded at practices, pre-game get-togethers, and voluntarily spending time together on weekends. We grew from barely tolerating each other to being such a tight-knit group that even schoolmates noticed.
We as coaches must learn to bridge all the elements around us to make one functioning unit.
I have critically reviewed both coaches’ A and B comparing them to each other. I will use Gibbs (1988) model to help me reflective critically on the coaching shadowing I had to undertake as part of my Sport Studies degree with the University of Hertfordshire during semester A. The reflection is for both experiences with Coach A and B.
I like organization of the practice and the way it flows. I like that coach constantly points out the mistakes, and pushing them to correct those mistakes. I like the relationship between coaches and players, especially the head coach. I think that coach should praise some athletes (not only to show them where are they making a mistake), in order for them to do something better. I get feeling like they need to have more fun.
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to see how he handles his team in high-pressure situations.
While Maryland struggled in its first year in the Big Ten, Rutgers seemed to have a little smoother transition in its first year in the conference. On offense, the team showed a lot of discipline to squeeze out a total of 390 YPG of total offense on the way to scoring 26.7 PPG. By limiting mental mistakes, the Scarlett Knights were able to score enough to keep them in games that led to victories and a place in the post-season.
Since I have been with the team since the start, I have been able experienced the evolution of the group development for the team. The team formed last February when a couple of sales students were elected to compete at a national competition. From there, coaches and student support formed around the competitors in order to have a purpose at the competition. The word ‘team’ was then tossed around, because this cycle then repeated itself at the next competition Bryant was invited to participate in. After that, meetings then became a regular routine, and each member began to understand their role on the team. As the team was able to receive more opportunities at competitions, conflicts began to arrive. What determined who was able to represent and compete, who was able to go to the competitions, and lack of focus during competition preparation were the usual conflict topics. When conflicts emerge, there are usually two ways to handle them – let them help build the team, or destroy the team. Luckily, the Sales Team let the conflicts help create norms so there was a common establishment that helped toward succeeding our team goals. The norm was very simple, if we continue to practice hard and get along with each other, we will be able to do great things at the competitions. That
Participants discussed how a coaching culture could be created across the Health Services and spoke of models used in other organisations where the line managers are trained in coaching skills and approach supervision and management of teams with a coaching approach and style. Managers in some organisations engage in this managerial style which complements the coaching service and embeds a coaching culture within the organisation.
In sports, young athletes interact with adults and peers; social relations and perceptions are related to fundamental psychological dimensions of a well-being (White 2007). In this regard, the leadership displayed by the coach can influence motivation and satisfaction of young people in sport (Horn, 2002).
I would recommend Coach needs to continue to explore new technologies such as social networking websites as a cost effective consumer communication opportunity to increase online and store sales and build brand awareness. As part of Coach’s direct marketing strategy, the growing number of entering to the Coach’s websites provide an opportunity to increase the size of databases of each country’s households.
At this time, James would be considered an underperforming employee. However, Alex has seen James potential through working with him on a previous project. To help James realize his potential, Alex will need a well-executed coaching plan. Coaching is an ongoing, collaborative process. It involves observing, complimenting, and seeking opportunities for improvement. The first goal of coaching is to establish trust between the manager and subordinate (Southwell, 2015, Unit 7).
Economic factors- If the economy is strong, people spend more money on luxury items. If unemployment rates are high, less people will be spending money on unnecessary items like luxury handbags and accessories.
PE teaches children how to participate in many sports and activities and introduces new fun ways to be active. A student might not know he or she likes a sport until being taught at school. For example, I was not fan of ultimate Frisbee growing up. I was made to play it in PE class and I ended up loving it. Now I own a few Frisbees—which are extremely cheap—and I play Frisbee every chance I get. This is just one example of an easy to learn, fun, low cost sport that PE taught me. A school can also add a lifetime sport requirement to their curriculum. This will give the students an opportunity to learn a sport that they can play its entire life and will increase their chances of living an active lifestyle. According to Figure 1, students who take P.E. in schools are far more likely to be active outside of school. Life time sports not only act as a way to stay fit but also as a social outlet (Emerson). Many of them require a partner or an opponent. Lifetime sports are great activities to strengthen relationships with people. If a student knows a lifetime sport, it increases their chances of living an active lifestyle.
Basketball is a way of life for several individuals; it actually would be a “crime” to assume that this sport only matters to a few sets of people. Keeping this in mind, the saying, “Ball is Life” must immediately come to mind since it describes the seriousness of the sport to those active within its realm. It is the highly competitive nature that draws individuals to the sport. Competitiveness and the desire to acquire professional level skill is what brings the young students to Bracy’s Basketball Skill Clinic in Vallejo, CA. Under the tutelage of Brandon Bracy, varying aged young boys are taught basketball skills, from the basics all the way to fine tuning for college level play. What I witnessed within this learning environment is a
Students need all the required attention. This does not always have to mean in a negative way or wrong way, but it is just how kids are. Students need to be reminded of what to do on a daily basis or what is expected from them for each day. In the second-grade class, I observed if the teacher did not tell the students not to talk they would talk even if it was during the pledge, morning work time, or during their testing times. I believe that having routines and rules implemented these students would not do these types of things like talk... etc. I also think that it could help the teacher. It was the second-grade teacher's first year teaching so I believe that implementing procures and rules that could stop in upcoming years. The first-grade teacher I observed has taught for several years, and the class is more structured in routines for each of the days. Having a structured classroom, I believe that could help me when I become a teacher myself.
